Bring the sky indoors – the ultimate sound absorberWe now spend almost 90% of our time indoors, where we are exposed to unnatural sounds and sound reflections. In order to improve the indoor sound environment in classrooms, we should strive as much as possible to resemble the natural outdoor sound environment.

This publication shows products from Ecophon’s product range and those of other suppliers. The specifications are intended to provide a general guide to which products are most suitable for the preferences indicated. Technical data is based on results obtained under typical testing conditions or long experience in normal conditions. The specified functions and properties for products and systems are only valid on condition that instructions, installation diagrams, installation guides, maintenance instructions and other stated conditions and recommendations have been taken into consideration and followed. Deviation from this, such as changing specific components or products, will mean that Ecophon cannot be held responsible for the function, consequences and properties of the products. Supporting teachers and pupils by a better sound environment

Creating the best possible conditions for students and teachers requires an understanding of how sound affects people and how to design the room acoustically. Ecophon has, over many years, developed competence and solutions that contribute to:

• Reduced stress

• Increased concentration and memory

• Improved speech clarity and learning

• Speaking and listening comfort

• Better interactions and attitudes by students

Bad acoustics in classrooms lead to poorer performance

Many school children spend their day in an environment that is too noisy to allow them to perform at their best. This may lead to both poorer learning and lower grades.

“It is likely that noisy classrooms mean students do not perform as well as they could, affecting both grades and knowledge gained. Students could perform better if schools invested in better acoustics,” says Lily Wang, Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction, USA.

Support the voice and the health of teachers

How to create speaker comfort for the teacherWhen teachers have no need to raise their voices to feel properly heard, the situation is more comfortable for everyone in the classroom. The Ecophon solution includes a reflecting area above the teacher to support speaker comfort.

Taking care of economy and environment

System designThe new Ecophon system fulfils the needs of the learning environment, such as impact resistance, design and optimised acoustics. The system also ensures that the ceiling tiles are secured in the Connect grid system, but are still demountable from below.

New strong surfaceWith the school environment in mind, Ecophon has developed a new reinforced surface, 10 times stronger than the previous generation surfaces. This leads to an extended life time and reduces the need to replace damaged ceiling tiles.

Care for the environment Ecophon has developed a revolutionary technology in the field of mineral wool acoustic ceilings. The 3RD Technology uses at least 70% recycled household glass content and has the benefit of replacing the traditional, petroleum based binder with renewable plant based binder agent.
