HOST Christmas PartyPrecious Heritage Orphanage

3rd December 2015 SeaTeam Management (Phils) Inc. conducted regular visit to

orphanage supported by HOST, Precious Heritage and give gifts to the 42 orphans accommodated in the center. The kids were served chicken with spaghetti lunch from Jollibee and was treated by a mascot for some entertainment together with senior seafarers and office staff led by SeaTeam Singapore Managing Director Alasdair Smith and SeaTeam Manila CEO Capt. Maniego. It was an eye opener for the first time seafarers meeting the kids they are supporting thru HOST as well as interact with office staff. On 4th December 2015, Alasdair Smith and 56 Seafarers together with office staff and respective family (total 140) attended the Christmas party hosted by STMP in Jen Hotel where all happily participated in parlor games, dancing and good food – Merry Christmas and prosperous 2016 to all.

Capt. Arturo Pacero and the crew of the Golden Finsbury demonstrate pride and comradery in celebrating the year end onboard. As a close-out to 2015, the crew mustered for a Christmas feast onboard, sharing the warmth and hearts of fellow seafarers away from their families during the holiday season. The end of the year provided a perfect time to join together to discuss accomplishments onboard in 2015 and reinforce the crew’s sense of belonging to the SeaTeam family. The end result was stronger bonds and excitement for the future as the crew managed to look ahead to the challenges in 2016. Capt. Pacero and crew send their best wishes to everyone in SeaTeam for a happy and prosperous New Year.

SeaTeam Management making a difference in the lives of the community in Singapore!

Christmas is truly a time of giving and in that spirit I was privileged and honoured to be involved in a project by Tabernacle of Christ

Church in raising funds for Life Community Services Society Singapore. Apart from providing quality student care services, this faith based community services society reaches out to under privileged children and families through targeted intervention and family services.

The Joy To The World Christmas Carnival was held on 19 December 2015 in the premises of Tabernacle of Christ Church in Yishun.

There was a huge turnout of people from all over Singapore, the atmosphere was lively, festive and filled with joy and laughter. My family and I were looking after the “Fishing Pond” booth and it proved to be a big hit with the little ones. Some of our colleagues in our Singapore office attended for a good cause and had a good time of fun with the entire family. There were tons of carnival games, rides, magic shows, dunking tank, bouncing castles with slides, local culinary delights topped with free popcorns and candy floss for everyone to enjoy.

Local celebrities like the legendary actor Li Nanxing, actress Constance Song, actors Eden Ang and Charlie Goh of hit series “Tanglin” graced this event readily signing autographs and taking photos with the carnival goers. There was also a surprise appearance from the stars of local blockbuster movie “Ah Boys to Men” Noah Yap and Maxi Lim to the delight of their screaming fans. Overall, the Carnival was a perfect occasion for all to celebrate Christmas and usher in the New Year!

At the end of the day, the Joy to the World Carnival raised a whopping S$63,000.00 to support the underprivileged children of Life Community Services Society of Singapore!

I am truly proud to be part of a caring company of people in SeaTeam Management that donated S$2000.00 to the Christmas Charity Carnival through the HOST funds. A big thank you to all in SeaTeam for your generosity and kindness in making a difference!

Equator Crossing at New Year on Tiger

As the tiger sailed from Ust Luga, Russia, steaming for Singapore, there was a mystery whether we would go through Suez or all the

way from Cape of Good Hope. Reaching Gibraltar we got the update from charterers to proceed via the Cape of Good Hope. Soon we realized that we will be crossing the equator. All the new sailors who had not crossed the equator were excited to get an experience that will be cherished for life. But before that we had a New Year coming up. She was fully decorated for the celebration of New Year. Galley department prepared a sumptuous

feast for all of us. On 31st December 2015, party with a number of games and joyful activities were carried out as we welcomed 2016. The next day 1st of January 2016, preparations started for the ceremony of equator crossing. King Neptune is the ruler of the seas and this ceremony is conducted to pay homage to the King by showing him respect, to protect us from the menace of the sea and to bring good luck. Jones commenced the “Order of Neptune”. The ceremony included funny costumes, drinking of truth serum (ingredients are kept secret) to speak absolute truth in the court of King Neptune and tasks to test the capability of handling long rough times at sea. We (Cadet Sachin, J/E Devprasad and D/Tr Infant) the land lubbers completed the tasks in the right spirit to rebirth as the Shellbacks, son’s of Neptune. After a long ceremony it was time for the exquisite feast followed by presenting of “Equator Crossing Certificate” by senior officers, which will be kept as the ritual’s legitimacy forever. These are the occasions that keep up the spirits of the men, bind them together as a “TEAM” at sea, and make them forget the difficulties they have to go through in their daily tasks, far from home.

Mission and Vision Onboard

To work safely and efficiently by maintaining high standard and high level of safety and performance quality in all aspect of our operations as a team onboard.

Safe Operation

No job is urgent or important that we cannot take the time to do safely; we are all accountable for our safety and for our colleagues in the workplace.

By following company procedures with the whole operation, carried out tool box meeting before the task to be done to distribute properly the work assignment and discussed the risk and possibility of danger, encourage the team to speak-up, sharing of ideas and experiences.

Report any defective found to assess and rectify as soon as possible by time and weather permit, encouraging individual of their right and obligation to stop the job whenever they see possible imminent danger ahead of time, report to the department head to evaluate and assess of the dangers observed so that possible hazard can be put in place.

Right Tools for the Right Job

To make a good result with the operation, maintenance and safe operation, right tools for the right job was observed.

A newly supplied and now in service as additional tools for maintenance called “Bristle Blaster Pneumatic”, a hand-held non-electric power tools with less vibration and noise ideal for spot-repair, touch-up jobs and removal of corrosion.

Leadership and Motivation

The Master and the department head is a prime responsible for implementing good leadership onboard, encouraging the team in development of proactive safety culture and creating a good operational atmosphere for the best result in the operation and maintenance.

Planned and Maintenance

To do the job safe and simple, proper and advance planning with the maintenance was observed, considering the safety of the team. Ensuring all jobs to be done are well planned so that everyone involved are aware and suggest for the better result.

Professionalism is defined as the competence or skill expected of a professional. Skill, good judgement, and polite behaviour of person trained to do a job well.

Professionalism is evident onboard the Golden Enterprise. Onboard leadership clearly understands the value of attention to detail. Pride is exhibited in the best practices established onboard and a commitment to achieve organizational goals. The result is in realization of the company mission and vision in a way that exemplifies one of SeaTeam’s best.

The E-Class Kamsarmax vessels, are now five years old and in need of regular maintenance to keep the ship up to company standard. Planned maintenance, reactive maintenance and adequate stores and spares are essential. The company will provide the resources, but the monitoring and completion is the responsibility of the men onboard. The company recognizes the efforts expended and will provide support when needed.

SeaTeam Provides Helping Hand during Chennai Flooding

ABOUT SOUTH INDIAN FLOODING:

The 2015 South Indian floods resulted from heavy rainfall of annual northeast monsoon in November–December 2015. They affected the Coromandel Coast region of the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, and the union territory of Puducherry, with Tamil Nadu and the city of Chennai particularly hard-hit. More than 400 people were killed and over 18 lakh (1.8 million) people were displaced. With estimates of damages and losses ranging from �50000 crore (US$7 billion) to �100000 crore (US$15 billion), the floods are the costliest to have occurred in 2015, and are among the costliest natural disasters of the year.

‘Team SeaTeam’ sprung into action once city faced worst flood hit. Humble short note on our deeds during this tough time as below.

‘Team SeaTeam’ with Capt. Ram and turning point NGO have contributed 100 boxes of food packets to Kannagi Nagar and Palavakkam Canal area affected people who were in deep need of help at the time of flooding.

Freshly made parathas, curd rice, lemon rice, sambar rice were all prepared with the help of few friends & colleagues and distributed to Rotary Nagar affected people.

All these aids were collected by ‘Team SeaTeam’ for about 3 days and our team distributed few hundred ready to eat food packets and water bottles to flood hit areas like Rudhrapuram located in Mylapore vicinity.

During such tough times Nature unites us all and Chennai beautifully morphed in to place which witnessed supreme show of Religious Unity and above all Humanity with lending hands with zero bifurcation.

Yes Tamilnadu recorded worst flood in over past 100 years so do Flood of Kindness as the skies opened up.

Year End Celebrations on Front Clyde

M/T Front Clyde under the command of Captain C.A. Pragados Jr. celebrated Christmas and New Year with pride. The master and crew for group photographs and to share holiday spirit with one another in lieu of home and family. Bright smiles and cheeful dispositions won the day as the men faced the reality of Christmas at sea. The distance did not stop the men from enjoying the true meaning of the day.

The Front Ocelot was delivered on the 7th of January 2016 and became the first manned by Russian Officers and Filipino Ratings. The

Front Ocelot is also the first Ice Class Cat in the SeaTeam fleet. Under the command of Captain Alexander Shleye, the vessel departed Zhoushan Shipyard to Singapore for taking of initial bunkers and is on route to Sikka India for it’s first loading.

The addition of Ice Classed Product Tankers to SeaTeams’ Management required extensive planning to manage the risks associated with the change when an extensive Management of Change (MOC) document was produced to effectively

Front Ocelot Deliveredcontrol the risks. Of significant concern was the need for additional Ice Navigation Procedures in the company SMS and the location of sea staff with ice experience. This required the company to expand it’s crewing pool to Prisco in Russia after several short-listed agents were vetted by senior management.

The Front Ocelot is another member of the Cat family and is scheduled to be followed by the Front Lynx, Front Leopard, and Front Jaguar, all to be similarly manned and expected to be delivered into Management in 2016.

Don’t Let a Confined Space be a Coffin

is a helpful method with regards to stress and workload.

• Culture – we might have lots of differences on culture, but we must disregard all these, because on ship there should be only one culture – Safety culture.

• Sleep/fatigue – is always there especially during operation. Using the WRH software we can plan ahead of the job that needed to be done, if ever there is a breach on rest hours, divide the job to the crew who is well rested.

• Operational atmosphere – a team’s operational atmosphere will be affected by the above mentioned factors, because each of them are inter-related and needs to combined as One to serve as a safety barrier againts accident/incident on ship.

Just a piece of advice from vessel Front Lion the king of the jungle (sea), we should never take any chances for accident to happen. Look out for your colleagues, give a helping hand, guide new and less experienced crew. More near miss reporting & follow procedures. Think and work safe in order for us to go home as a passenger and not a cargo.

Confined space entry has been a hot topic for the last few months

on Tanker fleet, there are several accidents on some ships reported involving confined space entry. This

balooning number of incidents were brought up into attention immediately on entire fleet. Since before I joined Front Lion, during my familiarization and basic training on tanker operation, confined space entry was one of the most highlighted topic and it is quite scary as I watched the safety video, looking at the casualty, swimming on his own blood due to falling from a six meter high ladder on the COT. I have instantly imagined myself as the victim, and question myself these... How if I am the victim? What will happen to my future, and my future family with three kids? (Admiral, doctor and president), will the accident kill me?

Every job has its own procedures, from the easiest and most common job such as painting and chipping where there is a standard procedure to comply with. We tend to be over confident and complacent over a repetitive daily job, and here comes the near misses that can attack anytime on us if we do not follow procedure, and eventually it can lead to a serious injury or even death. Such can be avoided if procedure are not to be missed by any steps.

Confined space entry requires a continous training and knowledge to all seafarers and this include familiarisation with the Company’s emergency contingency plan and safety management system, particularly on permits, checklist and formal risk assessment, In reference to ISGOTT and in compliance with our controlled copy SeaTeam Form No. HSQE 007 and as well as applying the MCRM factors.

• Procedure – if we follow procedure such as preparing all the required equipment standby and ready for immediate use, the less accident will happen unless it is a force majeure.

• Communication – if there is a good communication between the crew performing the job, ECR and the OOW, we can established an emergency plan just in case any accident occur.

• Stress/workload - person with heavy workload get stress faster and the focus on job will be affected. Good planning and delegation of the job
