EducationIntegrating service!learning at all levels in a student#s educational cycle is paramount. Team Peru works with the Primary and Middle Years programmes, at Copenhagen International School, to foster a sense of civic mindedness and build awareness of their place in the global community.

One way in which service learning is integrated is through Motionsdag. Every October, students of Copenhagen International School take to the woods and the streets to raise money for the Centres supported by Team Peru and Kiya Survivors. Students secure sponsors for various physical challenges and donate the funds raised to Kiya Survivors. The students learn that their action, no matter how big or small, has a direct and signi%cant impact on these children.

SupportSponsorship is the most e&ective way of supporting the work of Team Peru and Kiya Survivors. A regular gift 'given monthly, quarterly or annually( enables the organisations to continue to provide seamless love, education and therapy the children of Rainbow Center and Mama Cocha need. In addition to sponsorship, Team Peru raises money for the Centres by organising several annual fundraisers, within the greater Copenhagen community. In April of 2009, Team Peru showcased the World Premiere of The Next Explorers, at the Danish Film Institute. The Next Explorers is a documentary detailing the inspirational purpose and journey of Team Peru.

All funds raised through sponsorships, events or independent donations directly bene%t the children served by Team Peru and Kiya Survivors.

The Centres

Originally funded by the Team Peru DK 2008, Mama Cocha Children#s Home is

home to nine children who were in great need of shelter. Team Peru helps fund the

di&erent costs of the Centre to ensure that these children receive the love and support they deserve. Because of Team Peru#s help,

these children now have a safe and loving environment in which to live.

Team Peru DK 2006 originally funded the Rainbow House, where seven special

children now reside, all of whom have had to be removed from their homes because

of abandonment, abuse and neglect.

The Rainbow Centre provides daytime care to special needs children, ensuring

they receive a proper education and necessary therapies. Team Peru DK does

project work when in Peru, to support the needs of the Centre.

Jose Antonio

Jose Antonio spent most of his life lying on the $oor of a small, dark shack. He su&ers from Cerebral Palsy and had never before received any medical attention. He now lives in Mama Cocha Children#s Home and receives the attention he deserves.

!

Maria

When Maria was found by Kiya Survivors at age 21, she had su&ered severe neglect and had been locked away for years. Due to stress and trauma, she had pulled out her hair and did not recognize her re$ection in a mirror. Kiya Survivors# help and support has meant she is on the journey towards a better life by means of therapy, education, food and love.

The Children

A gift of just 143 Kr. per month will pay for the transportation of the children of Mama Cocha to

school. A gift of 163 Kr. will provide a one month’s supply of nappies for Jose Antonio.
