Karingal is a community service organisation which is committed to providing services that enhance the lives of individuals. Our team takes pride in proactively supporting people with disabilities, disadvantages

and those who are aged, to live full and active lives. We have services in Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional areas in Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.

DIVISION DESCRIPTION Karingal Community Living provides a range of services across the Barwon south-western region which support independence and enhance the life quality of people with a disability, acquired brain

injury, mental illness and the frail aged. Through partnerships with people with a disability, their families and the community, Karingal Community Living creates opportunities and choices that inspire and

enable the achievement of personal goals.

BRANCH DESCRIPTION This position is within the Disability Support Services department (Wyndham) which provides

individualised support and small group programs for people with a disability.

Position Specifics

Position Objective:

To provide high quality community based and individualised services that support and promote community inclusion for people with a disability in our Geelong Disability Support services area. This position is to lead the Wyndham Disability team.

Primary Location:

Wyndham (Werribee office)

Employment Status/Hours:

Full time ongoing

Travel: Wyndham & City of Greater Geelong and other as required

Probation: All positions are offered with 6 month probation period

Classification & Conditions:

Karingal Day Services Collective Agreement

Remuneration: Karingal Day Services Agreement The offer includes access to salary packaging provisions Superannuation is paid at 9.25%.

Position Responsibilities & Duties Measurable Outcomes

Position Specific Coordinate all of the intake and referrals for Wyndham

Disability programs including Futures for Young Adults, Individual Support Programs and Create Your Future.

Work as part of the Create Wyndham leadership team to promote the site and other disability support options to prospective clients.

Increase community based opportunities for clients through building productive relationships in the community.

Support staff and management to provide relevant activities and supports for young people with a disability.

Liaise with partner agencies and DHS when required to increase opportunities for people with disabilities.

Participate with management in the business development of disability services, including completion and application for funding and proposals of new growth ideas for the Wyndham region.

Monitor recording and reporting of program and client outcomes including funding, quality and compliance.

Programs and services are run efficiently at all times with timetabled activities occurring as scheduled except by agreement. Site is well maintained with maintenance issues reported to administration in timely and appropriate documentation. Programs and activities operate within relevant legislative requirements, program guidelines, Karingal policies and procedures. Funding applications are lodged and proposals for new business are communicated to the management team. Ensures that programs are meeting agreed outcomes.

Client Responsibilities Oversee completion of plans and complete funding

requests/costing for all clients within Wyndham Disability. Develop and implement behaviour support plans for identified

clients and ensure reporting requirements are completed. Ensure up-to-date client files are maintained and are available

for relevant stakeholders as required. Ensure that site activities are adequately resourced within the

budget by ensuring that relevant documentation is adhered to for program expenditure.

Provide and facilitate supports that maximise independence of clients to achieve objectives.

Individual Plans and budgets are developed in line with Karingal and DHS guidelines and in a timely and quality manner for all clients. Clients are as independent as possible while accessing programs or have adequate individual support. Follow up on incidents and ensure they are effectively reported and managed.

Staff Responsibilities Support staff in the delivery of quality programs and

individualised support to clients Effectively communicate relevant and timely information for

leadership team meetings and management of site, staff, clients, families and carers

Complete annual staff performance reviews in addition to providing day to day supervision and support to staff.

Ensure adequate staffing of programs through backfilling shifts when staff are unable to attend.

Complete staff rostering and hours as required by management.

Attend and participate in leadership meetings and conduct staff meetings for Wyndham disability services.

Ensure staff accurately complete required client documentation in a timely manner.

Drive a positive and proactive team environment by maintaining constructive and positive communication within the site team, the broader staff team and management Staff are supervised and supported in line with Karingal policy and processes Timely completion of staff performance reviews as demonstrated in documentation (as directed).

Work Health &Safety Documentation Complete Incident Reports Complete other documentation and report writing as required. Maintain records to ensure that QA standards are maintained. Complete tasks required for DEECD and DHS audits.

Incidents and accidents are always identified and reported through the correct Karingal channels as directed. All administrative work is completed in an efficient and timely manner as per Karingal policy and procedures.. All required reports are submitted in an accurate and timely manner. All quality requirements are completed on time as per QA guidelines.

Professional Development Actively participate in mandatory training and annual staff

performance reviews. Actively foster continuous professional development through

seeking to broaden and attend training/development that will maintain industry best practices.

Mandatory training is completed in a timely manner and to a high standard. Completion of staff annual performance reviews by required timeframes.

General Work in collaboration with other members of the Create

Wyndham leadership team Operate within relevant legislative requirements, program

guidelines, Karingal policies, procedures and work instructions. Display high level of personal integrity and professionalism

when representing Karingal Other duties as directed by Manager.

Adheres to Karingal staff code of conduct at all times.

Role Challenges and Essential Requirements:

Supporting clients with behaviours of concern including developing behaviour support plans Satisfactory completion of Police Check and Working With Children’s Check Current Level II First Aid Use of own vehicle may be required in some circumstances Current Driver’s Licence Compliance with WHS regulations, legislation and Policies and Procedures

Key Selection Criteria & Skills/Attributes

Essential:

Minimum Certificate IV in a Community Services related field Minimum three years’ experience working in the community services field

such as Disability, Youth or Mental Health. Demonstrated staff management and leadership skills A well-developed understanding and knowledge of community participation

and the legislations and standards for supporting people with a disability Demonstrated high level interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated understanding of current disability and youth issues Excellent abilities in report writing and use of computers (email, word

processing, database use) Fulfils inherent requirements of position as described above, including:
