The Humane Society Serving Clark County, Inc.

Mission: Helping animals in need

ORIGIN AND SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM

New Modern Kennels

Old Wire Fence Kennels

5

WHAT CAUSED THE ISSUE

• Lack of awareness– limited donations– advertising is pricey

• Public assumptions– people believe the organization is funded by tax dollars– society assumes that other people will help

• The facility is understaffed– minimal help is available– time is spent on most crucial matters

6

OTHER SOLUTIONS – SUCCESS/FAILURES

• “Miserable Failures” (J. Straley, personal communication, July 16, 2013)– Garage sales– Golf outings

• “Successful” (J. Straley, personal communication, July 16, 2013)– Selling candles– Discount cards to local businesses– Raffling off a car

• None of these both encourage adoption and raise money for expansion.
