Grants.gov – What is it ?

(from the website) Allows organizations to electronically find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from all Federal grant-making agencies. THE single access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies.

Fills a great need for agencies that do not have an electronic system for collecting and processing grant applications.

Grants.gov & The FTA

Competitive programs posted– Over the Road Bus– Users can FIND the opportunity and APPLY by

downloading an APPLICATION PACKAGE– Completed APPLICATION PACKAGE Materials are stored

on S:\OTRB and Regional Notification is sent

Mandatory programs– System to System (TEAM<->Grants.gov) interface currently

under construction

1. Annual list of earmarks in TEAM loaded for further identification by regions

2. Federal Register publication with ID Numbers3. Grants are associated with Earmarks in TEAM4. Earmark Managers finalize talking points, monitor

balances before reserving funds5. Reserve funds, then send thru Release Process

electronically thru TEAM6. TEAM feeds to GNS, grant is released (FTA/OST)7. Earmark/Grant Manager can obligate

Tracking Earmarks – When ?

2006: – TPM will publish ID’s in the Federal Register– Refer to this ID when communicating with TPM

about obligations, status, etc. (All program tracking spreadsheets will be updated to include it)
