Teaching Philosophy

¨  Teaching is the most important aspect of my professional career and forms the core of my identity as a professor.

¨  I also strongly believe that effective teaching involves a collaborative and synergistic relationship with the students.

¨  I believe that success – is generated from three critical building blocks: knowledge, critical thinking, and curiosity.

Active Learning Activity 6

Active Learning for course: Robotics Class topic/

subtopic Activity Specific question you will ask Details of implementation Time allotted

Kinematics of robot

Think

Pair

Obtain the position & orientation of the tool point P with respect to the base for the 2 DOF, RP planar manipulator as shown in figure 1.

Each team consists of five students. They were given initially two minutes of time to think about the question individually, and were asked to note down the points in their class note to ensure that they will involve in the process. Later it was announced that they can discuss with their teammates and come to some conclusion. Later the time was kept open for responses from the teams. Some team volunteered. It became easy for me to share the correct answers.

Active Learning Activity 7

¨  For the TPS activity students’ involvement was quite high. ¨  Although time taken was some 5 minutes, it was worth spending

time, because students got convinced quite easily during sharing session.

¨  Initially students were not participating so comfortably in thinking session, but after pairing, things got changed.

¨  I would love to plan such kind of activity for every class. I felt that teaching concepts could be easier this way.

Active Learning Activity 8

¨  For visible quiz also the involvement was good. ¨  Since I made it also a group activity, students were allowed to

chat and murmur, which kept them active.

¨  I think I should make some kind of arrangements for colored cards or cards with alphabets for taking the polls.

Collaborative Learning Activity Plan to Conduct Activity

¨  Formation of team

¨  Dividing team members in to 3 sections viz. people concerned with design part, design calculation and analysis.

¨  Members from different team pertaining to common sections meet in expert group for discussion about their section.

¨  Then the students return to their teams and explain about their section and try to implement the thoughts by working collaboratively.

¨  Each team will present the design concepts of their topic in front of the whole class so that other teams can also learn about the topic.

Conclusion ¨  Student’s feedback helps to design other course to develop the course

projects. Student’s feedback helps teachers and institution to develop laboratories in collaboration with the industry towards the development of students learning skills.

¨  In this we can conclude that students are more attractive towards the course and helps to improve their inter personal skills, communication skills and team management skills in the context of course project work. This also supports students to enhance higher order thinking and complex thinking skills.

¨  Students are more attractive towards the course and helps to improve their personal skills, communication skills and team management skills in the context of course project work.
