Teacher as a GuideGuidance - help and advice about how to do something or about how to deal with problems connected with your work, education, or personal relationships Start to be implemented in school in 1963; which was inline with UNESCOs charter The main purpose is to provide awareness among the teachers on the important in giving attention toward the students ability (mental, physical, interest, talent)

Meaning- A process to help the students to identify, to understand the experience/situation, value and behaviour which are acceptable in the societyRespondents- Students that faced problem(intellectual, spiritual, emotion or social )Example of common problems- Academic & socialSolution - Students will be given guideline & advice how to solve their problem(s)

Crow and Crow (1983)Within the education context, counseling refers to the aids given or actual support given to the students.Counseling service at school level must cover the counseling aspect such as social, learning, vocational and program such as (Prevention Program)

Principle in giving guidanceEvery students should be given equal treatment Teacher and students share the same responsible while having the guidance session (keeping the information only for themself)Teacher needs to obtain support from the school and the students parents in order to solve the problem(s)The purpose of the guidance is to develop oneself to be a better person

Approaches in giving guidanceGuidance is given for the students self development- Motivation talk, Guidance is given as prevention step- Teachers role to prevent or reduce the discipline problems (escape classes, drug-abuse, hangout) in school Guidance is given as remedial- To improve the students performanceGuidance is given to face the crisis which occur among the students- Crisis refers to the critical cases such as (fighting, murder-trial, drug-abuse) / some cases need to be refer to those who have higher authority

In conclusionTeacher plays an important role as a ordinary teacher or as a guidance teacherTeacher should be aware about his students progress and provide guidance if necessaryTeacher should be able to acquire good communication skills, instill moral values among the students and be a good role model
