Vice President urges Indian diplomats to defend
country's interest in turbulent world order Port Blair, July 2
The Lt. Governor, A & N Islands, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM
(Retd) will be inaugurating the Modern Fish Market at Junglighat at 10 am, on July
4, 2018. The Member of Parliament, Shri. Bishnu Pada Ray, Chief Secretary, A & N
Administration, Shri Vikram Dev Dutt and the PBMC Chairperson, Shri. Indra Pal
Singh will also be present on this occasion.
The project of this Modern Fish Market is funded by the Department of Fisheries, A
& N Administration and the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB),
Hyderabad with the objective to provide a modern and hygienic market for the general
public. The market has a Chilled Room facility, a solid and liquid waste disposal
machine for conversion of fish waste to manure and a separate electronic weighing
balance counter where the consumers can check the weight of fish purchased from
the market, a communication from Asst. Director of Fisheries, South
Andaman said.

State for External Affairs,
Shri M.J.Akbar and the
Foreign Secretary were
also present on the
occasion. Shri Naidu
asked the diplomats to
be agile and careful
and defend the
country's interests,
leveraging India's moral and
material strengths to
influence the global
discourse through carefully
strategized diplomatic
response.
The Vice President
elaborated that despite the
acknowledged need for an
Integrated World Order, new
'walls' are being erected to
the free flow of goods and
services and movement of
people as well. He said this
return to protectionism has
the potential to adversely
impact the global efforts
for collective advancement.
Shri Naidu referred to the
enhanced global interest in
India and urged the
diplomats to convert this
global enthusiasm
about India into
investments. He asserted
that India has moral and
material strength to influence
global discourse.

Addressing the gathering,
the Member of Parliament,
Shri. Bishnu Pada Ray dwelt
at length about Saansad
Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY)
and urged all the villagers for
their active participation in
implementation of the
scheme. The responsibility
of the villagers was also
discussed in making village
as a model village.
Earlier, the DCSA/Secretary-
cum-Director, Directorate of
RD, PRIs & ULBs, Shri. Udit
Prakash Rai highlighted the
activities conducted at Gram
Panchayat Ferrargunj under
Saansad Adarsh Gram
Yojana (SAGY) through a
Power Point presentation.
He also desired that similar
model projects may be
executed at Gram Panchayat
Wandoor with the support
of line departments for the
development of Gram
Panchayat Wandoor under
Saansad Adarsh Gram
Yojana.
An interaction session with
the general public was also
held whereby various
demands & issues of the
villagers were heard and
genuine demands were
approved by Gram Sabha for
inclusion in the Village
Development Plan (VDP), a
communication from ADM/
Charge Officer (SAGY)
South Andaman said.

published by the Boys'
School Alumni
Association was released
by the Chief Secretary,
Shri Vikram Dev Dutt in the
conference hal l of
Secretariat here today.
The Magazine, t itled
'Footprints', is a collection
of memories and
reminiscences gathered
from various sources,
penned by pioneers, who
walked the corridors of the
School at different stages
of their lives.
Releasing the Magazine,
the Chief Secretary
expressed happiness over
the compilation of the
Magazine, which, he said,

Lauds Boys’ School’s role inevolution of education in Isles
is a collect ion of the
memories and experiences
of the wr iters and
contributor s, who had
their education in the
School. He said, the
history of this school is
linked with the history of
Port Blair as it is the
history of evolution of
education in the Islands.
He in formed that the
contents in the Magazine
will be integrated in the
archive materials of the
Islands.
The Chief Secretary said
that Boys' School has come
a long way in educating
Islanders. Many senior
citizens, of whom many
have held or are holding
good posi tions in the
society, are the products
of the School, he said. This
is the time for them to give
back to the society, the
Chief Secretary remarked.
All the alumnus of the
School have made a mark
in the respective fields, he
said.
The Chief Secretary also
assured to initiate and
monitor the establishment
of a museum and a
multipurpose hall in the
school. The foundation
stone of the said museum
has already been laid.
The Chief Secretary also
gave away awards to the
best performer students of
the School for the
academic year 2017.

alumnus of the School and
a member of the Heritage
Committee, A & N Islands,
in h is int roductory
address informed that the
School is the oldest
school in the Islands. He
also st ressed for
establishment of a
multipurpose hall for the
School.
Briefing the gathering
about the Magazine, the
Secretary, Boys' School
Alumni Association, Shri
Basudev Dass said the
Magazine, compiled in
English, Hindi and Urdu
has gained a right to be
kept in archives, libraries
as also in the bookshelves
of those, who would love
to know the history of
these Islands.

'Marine Biotechnology,
Biodiversity and Fisheries'
(WMBBF-2018) organized
by the Andaman and
Nicobar Centre for Ocean
Science and Technology
(ANCOST), National
Institute of Ocean
Technology (NIOT),
Dollygunj was held
recently. About 65
participants from various
research institutes like
Pondicherry University,
Central Island Agricultural
Research Institute,
Zoological Survey of India,
Fishery Survey of India,
Botanical Survey of India,
Indian Council for Medical
Research, Rajiv Gandhi
Centre for Aquaculture,
Ministry of Earth Sciences
etc. participated.
The workshop was themed
to discuss critically about
the challenges facing in
A&N region. In particular,
the discussion was focused
on importance of blue
revolution and the
technological development
that needs to be addressed
to utilize the potential of our
ocean to the fullest without
over exploitation and the
steps that our community
can take to ensure that
oceans could be more
productive in the future. Dr.

(ICC) Hall of fame on Monday.
The fourth highest run scorer in
Test cricket, Dravid became the
fifth Indian Cricketer to enter the
ICC Hall of Fame. Praised as
'The Wall' of Indian cricket,
Dravid was one of the finest Test
cricketers in the world. He
continues to serve Indian cricket
as a Coach for India’s Under-
19 team and has been
instrumental in nurturing young
talents on the big stage. Dravid
was also associated with the
Delhi based franchise as a
mentor, in the IPL but decided to
part ways, after being accused

Bay will also be blown in a similar manner at 1000 Hrs.
Therefore, the general public is hereby informed not to panic during the test of siren and

7. If the intended items are not supplied in the prescribed time by the supplier, the EMD will be forfeited as per GFR 2005 and particular item will be procured from the lowest quotationer with the consent of competent authority.
8. The Gram Panchayat, Paschimsagar will have the right to place orders for their required quantities for 12 (Twelve) months from the date of
opening / acceptance of the quotation as and when required basis as per the quotation.
9. The rate quoted will be valid upto the date of supply of the items as mentioned in the supply order and the Gram Panchayat will not have any
responsibility for hike in the price till the date of supply.
10. Firms should have sufficient stock of the items and should be delivered the same to this office of the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat,
Paschimsagar within 20 days of placing intend on them. Bills will be processed only on completion of the supply order and payment will not be
released, if part of the supply is pending or incomplete.
11. The supplier shall be responsible for the quality of the item.
