SmartPlug®

Reduced Down TimesThe primary advantage of pressure isolation is the ability to minimize production down time by keeping the contents of the pipeline in place, maintaining product flow and pressure during repair or tie-in work.

The SmartPlug® system is a piggable, remote controlled, tetherless, high pressure isolation tool. It is designed to isolate sections of a pipeline allowing repairs, tie-ins or inspections whilst maintaining pressure elsewhere in the system. Through-wall communication is achieved using the market leading SmartTrack™ system. The Smart-Track™ system is used for operating the SmartPlug® tool and for reliable tracking and accurate positioning of it.

A TDW STOPPLE® plugging machine can also be used to temporarily isolate the product in an operating pipeline by acting as a temporary block valve. When used in conjunction with a bypass line and another STOPPLE® plug-ging machine, product can be rerouted around the isolated section of pipeline, maintaining uninterrupted flow.

Both methods, used separately, or used in combination, enable pipeline repair without reducing pipeline pressure or bleeding down the entire pipeline system. The goal is to provide a solution that minimizes a customer’s production down time.

Enhanced Production ThroughputTDW develops and manufactures customized pipeline pigs for every conceivable application.One of TDW’s specialities is developing pigs for multi-diameter pipelines. Combining the SmartTrack™ system with any TDW pig gives an added feature of highly reliable tracking without the use of isotopes.

With capability to engineer, manufacture and test pipeline pig designs in purpose-built test rigs, TDW excels at solving challenging pigging applications for customers. By focusing on constant innovation in product application development, TDW is always improving pigging performance and reliability.

Tailor-made pigging equipment is developed based on customer’s specific needs. In addition, TDW offers a wide range of pigging products for cleaning, preserving and monitoring of pipeline conditions. TDW also manufactures pipeline equipment ranging from receivers, launchers, closures, PIG-SIG® signalling, and pig tracking products, along with pig handling equipment.

Our proprietary SmartTrack™ system revolutionizes pig tracking. The operators know a pig’s location at all times and can identify individual pigs as they pass monitoring stations down the pipeline. By making isotopes obsolete, TDW provides higher personnel safety, an environmentally friendly and more effective solution for customers’ pigging operations.

Subsea Repair SolutionsTDW Offshore Services provides quick delivery of repair solutions for piping systems, pipeline, riser and caisson. TDW products are typically applied when unusual or extreme situations prevent standard repairs from being performed.

TDW Offshore Services maintains a staff of experienced engineers who excel at the custom design and manufacture of a wide range of specialized pipeline repair clamps. Available as structural or non-structural types, TDW pipeline repair clamps are all full pressure containing and are designed so they can be installed by divers or remotely opera-ted vehicles (ROV). ROV clamp applications are designed to be employed with minimal alignment and packer energizing complexity.

The following benefits have been realized by customers:• Reduced time for dive support vessel (DSV), ROV or divers• Reduced need to excavate around the pipeline for clamp installation• Very quick, integrated installation• Short lead times required to manufacture and mobilize clamp solutions• Prevention of pipeline leaks in environmentally sensitive areas by reinforcing pipelines and platform risers• Ability to fabricate clamps to fit pipeline sizes/pressure ratings that are not available through joint industry programs

TDW Offshore Services’ subsea repair solutions include a hot tap piggable wye, enabling the insertion of coiled tubing, the SmartPlug® tool, inline inspection tool, or pig(s) into the pipeline for remediation of a pipeline blockage, like a hydrate plug or where pigging a long distance is considered risky.

Emergency Pipeline RepairSystemTDW Offshore Services knows that unforeseen problems like an anchor drag, collision with a riser, or a hurricane can unexpectedly damage or disrupt pipeline operations. Believing that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, TDW partners with customers to be prepared and operationally ready for the unexpected.

Every pipeline system is unique, and is exposed to unique risk elements. That is why TDW offers a pipeline system gap analysis. The study will identify the difference in readiness to respond to a pipeline emergency, taking into consideration where the client is today and where that client desires to be in the future in terms of response preparedness. From the data analysis TDW can customize an emergency response package that helps customers outfit themselves with an emergency response kit. The purpose of the kit is to enable the pipeline system to return to safe operation in the shortest time. The TDW solution package is a combination of the SmartPlug® tool, hot tap and STOPPLE® plugging technology and other TDW products and services that, when combined, help ensure the clients are prepared to deal with what comes their way in a pipeline emergency.
