Smart public transport in Ulaanbaatar city

“Ulaanbaatar Smart Card” LLC:

- Established bus control center(BMS and BIS)

- Total 1,300 bus installed GPSdevise, card reader and CCTV

- Total card charger 524 pointworking whole city.

- Build new IST 10 standard.

Under the scope of developing Intelligent Transport System in the capital city, “Ulaanbaatar Smart Card”LLC has been implementing “Electronic payment system, BIS and BMS” project since 2015.

The electronic payment system has been introduced in the public transport in July of2015. Starting from 1st of April 2017 bus operating companies have stopped acceptingcash payment and have started accepting only smart card payment.

Future plan of public transport in Ulaanbaatar city

Ulaanbaatar city’s Master plan (2020) and Development approaches for2030 was adopted by Parliament of Mongolia in 2013. In the master plan, itis stated that Ulaanbaatar city will be restructured from monocentric cityinto multi-centric. Thus, Ulaanbaatar city has developed the feasibility studyof Metro and has established the BRT project implementation unit in orderdevelop mass transit and accommodate the future passenger demand.
