FINAL HOME GAME FOR TCU SENIORS A WIN The TCU Lacrosse team was able to send the 2011 senior class off with a win. Facing off against reigning LSA Division II champions Sam Houston State, the Horned Frogs knew they would have to give a tremendous effort to come away with the victory. In the final home game for the 2011 season, the Horned Frogs would receive a sterling effort from their senior laden defense and many goals from their young offense. The TCU defense led by John Willis (15 saves) would hold the hot shooting Bearkats to 9 goals, Sam Houston’s lowest total of the season. Playing great defense all day, sen- iors Shea Pearson and Grant Eason would hold the offense in check from the start of the game. Another great individual performance on defense and on ground balls junior Pat McDonald would constantly harass opponents and create transition for the Horned Frogs. That transition game sparked the Horned Frog Offense throughout the day. Freshman midfielder Mac Kelly (4 goals) had a career high in goals and constantly keep TCU in control of the game. Timely goals by freshman David Carlton, James Williams and Luke Lossau would also keep the momentum with the Horned Frogs. Two key units also helped TCU assert their control of the game. Coach Miller’s Crease April Edition The end of the regular season is upon us. This has been the most emotional and dynamic season during my time at TCU. With a solid core of upperclassmen lead-ing the way I hoped that our young freshman would come along quickly. Our growing pains have been many this year and at times we struggled to find out just who our team is and how tough can we be both emotionally and physically.

Uniting a team for a purpose is very tough, just one or two problems or surprises can upset the balance, however I have been astonished by the sacrifice and sup-port of all the players of TCU Lacrosse. It has not been a smooth journey, just ask anyone of the players on the team. Between personal life, classes at TCU and life in general we have hit plenty of rough patches. Some seem to come back to back to back.

These conflicts help to build an individual and a team. We learn that you don’t have to break down barriers in front of you. You have to learn to see them as a way to become better. To create your own success and to become stronger through the development of individual strength and character. Sometime that character needs support and all a player has to do is look left or right and see that he has someone that is willing to help him.

We may have the chance to play in the LSA Playoffs for the first time ever. The thought of it both scares and excited me as a Coach.. I hope that our true team character will show in the upcoming practices.

If I think about it about it too much I feel that I will lose it, if I try to pack in the back of my mind it keeps coming to the front. No matter what happens next weekend I will always look back at this year and see how hard all the players worked to get to this point. I hope that they get to experience the thrills of post-season and playing for a championship. They surely deserve it.

Lone Star Alliance Play-

off Tiebreakers

Currently TCU stands at 2-3, Texas Tech at 2-3 and Oklahoma 2-2 in the LSA North. The only remaining game in division play is between Oklahoma and North Texas.

The first tiebreaker for the LSA is head to head competition amongst tied teams. In our case we lost to Oklahoma but beat Texas Tech. Texas Tech beat Oklahoma, and lost to TCU.

This creates a three way tie amongst the three teams so head to head competition will not work. The next tiebreaker is goal differential among common op-ponents.

Games against UNT, SMU and Oklahoma State (with an 8 goal limit) will be factored in. Cur-rently TCU leads that category and will be the team selected if UNT beats Oklahoma on Satur-day April 10th.

The face-off unit of Oliver Slocum (LSM), wing middies Jeff Pellett and Jordan McFarland always found themselves

in the right positions for freshman faceoff man Brian Riazzi(10 GBs). Riazzi’s dominant play facing off continued

late in the season and kept the ball in TCU’s hands.

The TCU extra man unit would also provide the difference for the game. Given multiple opportunities the EMO unit

punched in four of TCU’s eight goals in the second half. Tied 3-3 coming out of halftime the Horned Frogs turned

up the pressure all over the field. Junior Cameron Deptula would score all four of his goals in the second half to

key an 8-6 run by the Horned Frogs.

TCU will be idle next weekend as they wait on the results of a final LSA conference game. Upon completion of that

game TCU will learn if they will receive an invite to the 2011 LSA Post Season Tournament.

The TCU Men’s Lacrosse team

was founded in 1983. They cur-

rently compete in the Lone Star

Alliance Conference of the Men’s

Collegiate Lacrosse Association

(MCLA). The team provides an

outlet to players on the Fort

Worth Campus where they can

compete in a highly organized

and competitive environment.

TCU Lacrosse works to produce

players who will contribute to

both TCU Lacrosse and the Uni-

versity. Each player is non-

scholarship and their time and

energy are focused on the devel-

opment of a championship team.
