Huntington Hospital Celebrates 26th Annual Fall Food and Wine Festival In conjunction with the Parkway Grill, Huntington Hospital put on its elegant annual soiree Sunday eve- ning to benefit Huntington Hospital’s Center for Trau- ma Care. President and CEO of Huntington Hospital, Ste- phen Ralph was on hand to personally greet the liter- ally hundreds of guests who support this fundraiser every year. In addition to Hun- tington’s CEO, Bob and P asadena Police Chief Phillip L. Sanchez made inaugural “State of the Police Depart- ment” speech Thursday in front of a breakfast group of- politicians, council members, Police Depart- ment employees and com- manders.. Sanchez proudly point- ed out that an 8 percent drop in Pasadena’s crime rate was indeed something to be proud of at the annual Pasadena Police Founda- tion breakfast at Brookside Golf Club. The motto of the Foun- dation is ‘Helping Cops give Kids Hope’. And that is exactly what they did with the premier presentation of the Bernard Melekian Outstanding Youth Award. The recipient of the award, Anthony Atallah is a Police Explorer. The Blair High School senior received a check for $500. According to Sanchez, the (police) department’s future is in enhanced tech- nology more collaborative efforts with regional de- partments and the General public. Sanchez stated a case in point when the de- partment was desperately search for a missing three year old boy last week. Sanchez also told the audience he would name an Assistant Chief from within the dept. The an- nouncement received thun- derous applause. VOLUME XV, NO. Along with the implementation of a natural dirt surface, it is es- timated there will be a 25 percent increase in over- night purses, making the upcoming meet even more attractive to local and out- of-state horsemen. “With the return to natural dirt and the pros- pect of significantly higher purses, it makes it easier for us to attract quality barns,” said Racing Sec- retary Rick Hammerle. “We’re already sensing a high degree of anticipation for this meet and we’ll be at the Breeders’ Cup next week in Kentucky recruit- ing horsemen to come to Santa Anita this winter. We’re very optimistic.” Director of Racing Mike Harlow echoed Hammerle’s sentiments, noting, “Anytime you’re able to significantly in- crease your purses across the board, it’s a good thing. Along with the fact that we’ve resolved the sit- uation with the main track, we expect a good response from horsemen this year.” Santa Anita’s 76-day winter/spring meet will run through April 17. Comptroller Chiang Highlights Local Government Compensation

California State Comp-troller John Chiang’s office has updated their website with considerable detail on local government’s com-pensation within the state. The website: http://lgcr.sco.ca.gov/ , will show you ev-ery city and every dept’s sal-ary range therein.

In a press release issued on August 3, 2010, Control-ler John Chiang announced new reporting requirements for all California cities and counties, directing them to clearly identify elected of-ficials’ and public employ-ees’ compensation. While many cities have posted some information on their websites, this website up-date from Chiang’s office is highly detailed and makes for some interesting reading.
