months ago, a friend of mine was visiting m: Senator in t6e

hospital in St. Louis. and came back on a Saturday evening

and called me on Sundav morning, and said, *1 have ver: bad

news. I don*t think Senator Vadalabene will live through

the davo* Tbat was a Sunday. :1 don*t think he is strong

enougb. and the doctor doesn*t think he is strong enough to

live through the dav so that he can have his heart

operation the next day.* Senator Vadalabene had a heart

attack. He had a quintriple bypass. Hîs kidnevs failed

when he was in the hospital. After his operationy eight

davs laterm he saidv *Docv l*m going home. I want out of

hereo' He did, and last week he came back to Springfield.
