PROBLEM OR OPPORTUNITY Leader standard work is more general in nature vs. specific step-by-step standard work for operator positions. It is difficult to develop a system to standardize generalized work. COUNTERMEASURE While leaders can and should still maintain their own standard work listing of daily/weekly tasks, the T-card deck of 12 cards is intended to reinforce the basics of supporting a Lean Culture. These visual cards are intended to reinforce the standard leadership behaviors. 1. Floor supervisors have 12 total T-cards that address 12 key “touch points” relative to lean culture that supervisors use on a daily and weekly basis to prioritize their time 2. Tasks are in rough order of normal “day in the life” completion 3. The top six are daily tasks – all need to be green by end of each day 4. The bottom six are weekly tasks – all need to be green by end of week 5. Start day with all red dots showings 6. Flip to green when complete. Check date on back when complete. 7. Flip to yellow if you know you will not be able to complete (signal for “help”) 8. If supervisor is out for day, the supervisor’s supervisor can flip all to yellow… or ideally have tasks delegated to sub-leader 9. At end of shift, the supervisor’s supervisor flips all cards back to green. Communicate with supervisor “good job”. 10. If any were still red, the supervisor’s supervisor should discuss the 5-Why’s with supervisor and note on back 11. At end of month, the supervisor’s supervisor should review back of cards for trend of completion for month and discuss with supervisor. Then wipe back clean for start of new month.
