Today is Monday, August 27, 2018 Are you singer? Are you passionate about performing? Then you might be the next Tavares Idol! Those interested in this years Tavares Idol competition are encouraged to attend an informative meeting during Learning Opportunities today. At this meeting we will discuss the audition process and how to prepare to be the next Tavares Idol! Auditions will be held after school on Thursday, September 6, and Friday, September 7, with the show being performed on September 13 at 6:00 PM in the THS Auditorium. Tavares Idol is being sponsored by the THS Chorus and Theatre Department. See Mr. Batko if you have any questions. There will be a mandatory Junior Class Officers meeting during Learning Ops on Tuesday in Mrs. Newman’s room – 2-105. We will be discussing homecoming. If you are interested in helping out your community and learning leadership qualities please come to the informational Key Club meeting today during learning ops in Mrs. Dean’s room, 6-222. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Special Olympics is looking for volunteers to assist with the county bowling competition on September 8th at Breakpoint Alley from 7:30-1:00. Please see Ms. Vineyard in 5-101 for more information.

A less disparaging meaning is merely "wandering." But stop before you try to tie in all of this with errand; that word has a different story to tell.

1660 - The books of John Milton were burned in London due to his attacks on King Charles II.

1789 - The Declaration of the Rights of Man was adopted by the French National Assembly.

2001 - Work began on the future site of a World War II memorial on the U.S. capital's historic national Mall. The site is between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
