Self Expression: Expression of one’s own personality, feelings or ideas, as through speech or art. Self expres-sion is shown in many different ways including painting, drawing, music, and fashion. These mediums are the most contemporary forms of expres-sion; however, another form of art and self expression is making its way though the halls of D-West. Tattoos.

Although times have changed, many people have viewed tat-toos as horrendous and danger-ous, but not according to a few individuals attending DWHS.

Senior Chris Peuker has just got-ten his third tattoo finished. One of his tattoos that is located along his side is probably the one that means the most to him. “My side tattoo

Peace, love, and coexistence are just a few of the things that can make the world an improved and uncomplicated place to live. But at the core of a quality life, many people don’t realize that technology is the thing that is improving existence.

The world and all of its inhabit-ants are always adapting, and with this sought out change new tech-nology is created and new ideas are born. With as simple of an idea as bringing people closer through a so-cial website to eventually bringing people to interact in space, the op-portunities one gets from innovative technology are seemingly endless.

Technology has exploded on the scene in the recent decade with companies and individuals creating works to benefit the world around them. Bill Gates, a major contribu-tor to charities around the world, has recently given a portion of his riches to different companies in all different countries. With these funds, these countries were asked to build… THE TOILET OF THE FUTURE. This year there is the big competition between Facebook and Twitter. Many people have loved Facebook throughout the years, but now that Twitter is here, which one do they choose?

Facebook has many great qualities. It is easy to find people and their email addresses, and it is easy to make connections through instant messaging and video chat. Also, many people have reported that they would rather use Facebook to chat with people rather than email. Facebook has a huge, rapidly growing installed user base. According to “jeffbullas.com” Facebook has more than 650 million active users.

Doniphan West junior Aisha Diveley prefers Facebook be-cause it is more personal. She likes being able to message people and talk to them without announcing it.

There are many great things about Facebook, but what is it that attracts people to Twitter instead?

Twitter is very easy to navigate and update. Twitter can go far beyond following friends: It is easy to get updates from favorite celebrities and favorite teams. Twitter is very interactive and has a very rapid response. According to the “Baseline” website, Twitter has more than 200 million registered users, but the number of active users is unknown.

Everything has its great qualities, but with them comes some negative qualities. Both Facebook and Twitter have flaws.

According to the website “squidoo” Facebook is difficult to navigate and update, and it requires a lot of time invested into it to make it beneficial. Also, if people don’t stay logged on to Face-book constantly then they won’t get immediate responses.

Twitter is limited functionally; it’s hard to find people, send short messages, and receive direct replies. Also, Twitter is limited to only 140 characters per update. Twitter can be easily used for spam. It also has a relatively small installed user base according to the website “twitip.”

Not all people find Facebook and Twitter useful, but there are also many people who find them very useful such as busi-ness owners, people who live far from family and friends, and celebrities.

One Doniphan West user, Brandon Caudle said, “I prefer Twitter because it’s faster, but if I was trapped on an island I would choose Facebook because no one listens to me on Twitter.”

Both Facebook and Twitter have pros and cons. But it is the people’s choice of what they prefer. If they like short updates and rapid responses then Twitter is for them, but if they like to video chat and instant messaging, then Facebook is what they’re look-ing for.

them,” sophomore Megan Green said.Another reason some people don’t

play sports is because they lack the confidence it takes to be an athlete and perform in front of other people.

“I used to play sports in middle school but it is different in high school, because a lot of people actually come and watch, and it makes me way too nervous,” Green said.

A big part of being a good teammate and good athlete is attending practices, even though jobs and school work can make it hard to be committed. Some students get behind in school work during sports and it makes it diffi-cult for them to be the athlete they want to be.

Everyone should try and at least play one sport because it is a lot of fun. Even those who feel they aren’t good can learn skills like patience and how to work with others.

At least nine students in every class at Doniphan West play one or more sports throughout the school year.

There are many advantages for playing sports, and one of them is staying in shape. Another advantage would be it teaches peo-ple how to become team players, and sports keep help athletes busy and out of trouble.

“I mostly play sports because it’s fun to me and keeps me in good shape,” sophomore Scotti Twombly said.

Many kids don’t play sports because it takes away a lot of free time. Some students don’t play sports because their parents don’t let them and it takes away their parents’ free time.
