Background

• Tata Steel is looking for year nine pupils who wish to apply for its flagship Industrial

Cadets programme• The 10-week programme will take place during term-time on Mondays between 3 and

6pm• It will take place on the Teesside steelworks site• The programme involves a combination of practical and theory-based classroom

learning, as well as industrial site visits to see how we make steel• Practical tasks include bridge building and wind energy challenges

They are looking for candidates with:

• A strong interest in manufacturing, engineering or business

• Basic literacy, numeracy, speaking and listening skills

• High standards of behaviour

• Commitment to ten-week programme

• Good time-keeping skills

• A positive, mature attitude to learning
