"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened,

and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

Recently, a father and his five-year-old daughter came into Operation Reach Out for assistance. The dad was weary and heavy burdened. His daughter was precious but also weary and heavy burdened for her dad. We gave his daughter a coloring book and markers as we met with the dad.

Although he was working the night shift at a local company and his wife had recently gotten a job waiting tables during the day, the family was in transition and had no home, no place to stay. The dad had just spent his last few dollars for a hotel over the weekend and now had no money to provide shelter for his sweet family.

As he spoke, he hung his head and cried. He was so embarrassed and ashamed that he couldn't care for his family. As the tears ran down his face, his five-year-old daughter came in quietly and wiped them away.

This family was weary and heavy burdened. God allowed us to give them some rest for the next two nights at a local hotel. We set up mentoring opportunities for him with Pastor Eddie and Pastor Kevin, and, most importantly, we prayed with them.

This is a situation we are seeing more and more. Young families with children, in diffi-cult transitional times, and living in their cars. Weary and heavy burdened for their children, they come to us at Operation Reach Out, needing rest and needing the peace of Jesus.

It is truly a blessing to be used by God to offer them rest and peace! Thank you for "Reaching-Out" with us to be the hands and feet of Jesus! ~Sharon McFadden Director ORO
