VilhelmMarstrand (1810–1873)andLouisGurlitt (1812–1897)bothstudiedat theRoyalDanishAcademyofFineArtsintheearly1830sandwereclosepersonalfriends.MarstrandexecutedatleastoneotherportraitofGurlitt.Twophotos foundamong thepersonalpapersofCorneliusGurlitt inSalzburg show thepicturehangingonthewalloftheGurlittfamilyresidence.In summary, it is highly unlikely that the painting is Nazi-era art. The Lost Art entry was thusdeleted.
