1. The company H&M have used many different celebrities
within their advertisements the reason that big companies like to
get famous celebrities to be part oft heir advertisement is because
it attracts peoples attention to the company a lot more. People
will look at the image of a celebrity wearing a specific outfit and
want to be just like them and wear the same clothes, and then they
will see that the image is from a specific company because it will
include the logo. People will see that the clothes are from a store
which is cheap and available for them like H&M and will go buy
them so they can look smart and have good clothes just list the
celebrities they have seen. H&M have used many different
celebrities to help promote their company. In 1991 Cindy Crawford
featured in hundreds of posters around places. Then Naomi Campbell
featured in pictures shown in a store and the promotion worked as
the shop sold out within a week. Pamela Anderson then featured on
billboard posters in 1995. Yasmin Le Bon featured in the adults
section of H&M whilst bringing her daughter into the shoots to
fit into the kids section helping to promote all areas of the shop.
Then kylie Minogue stopped traffic when she was shot posing in her
underwear in 1998 and after doing this photo shoot she took the
popularity and kick started her singing career again. The way that
H&M have got celebrities is all to do with psychological
advertisement in the way that it makes you want to be just like the
celebrity. You will see psychological advertisement used in many
other advertisements such as in a tooth paste advert, to promote
the tooth paste more the people featured in the advert will have
bright white teeth to physiologically make you think your teeth
will be like that if you use it. Another example is coke. They did
a very clever marketing project during the Olympics. They
advertised free cokes everywhere while the Olympics were on. As
everyone in the world was watching the Olympics it was almost 100%
that the coke sales would increase. This is because people will see
it everywhere and subconsciously want it. They also did a giveaway
including free drinks and free items related to coke such as
glasses. During any Olympic event they would give away one free
drink to everyone who was involved. This will help increase sales
because once they have given away one free drink people will come
back and pay for the next one because they got a free one to start
with and they enjoyed it. To also help with the sales of coke, at
the Olympics you would see the famous athlete drinking the drink
and you would see adverts on the TV and on bus shelters of the
athletes drinking it. Seeing someone famous using or drinking
something will instantly make the public want to go out and buy it
themselves. They see it been used by someone very popular and will
want to be just like them therefore will buy the drink.
