    TARIFF REGULATIONS

    FARES

    Unless otherwise instructed, fares are payable directly into a Metro Bus fare box or MetroRail Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) by the passenger. Cash fares are payable in lawfulUnited States currency only. Fares may be pre-paid by:

    Purchasing Metro 30-day, 7-day, or day passes on TAP cards.Purchasing Metro Rail-issued day passes in paper form.Annual or specific term passes on a TAP card offered through Metros CommuterServices department.Tokens as directed in this document and/or in Operations Advisory and Tariff Notices.

    All sales are final.

    GENERAL FARE PROCEDURES

    Fare procedures on the Metro transit system are governed by the MTA Board of Directorsand separate contracts with adjacent counties in which transit service is provided. Thefollowing is a description of the fare procedures as applied to the various types of service.

    On Metro Bus lines operating terminal to terminal in local service, a base fare applies to anydestination on the line. The base cash fare is:

    Regular - $1.50

    Senior Citizen and Disabled - $0.55 peak, $0.25 off-peakCollege/Vocational Students pay the regular cash fare of $1.50.K-12 Students with a TAP card pay $1.00 cash fare ($1.50 cash fare without a TAP card).

    Limited service Metro Bus lines are those operating partially in local and partially inrestricted-stop service. These lines are not operated via freeways. Distance increments(zones) will not be charged on this type of service.

    Express service lines are those operating partially in local and partially in restricted-stopservice with portions of their trips operated via freeway or busway. Distance increments(zones) are charged on all cash fares, regular Metro 30-day, 7-day, and Day Passes based onthe number of zones traveled (maximum of two zones). There are no distance incrementscharged for passengers 1) using Senior/Disabled, Student and College/Vocational TAP cardswith a valid 30-day pass as denoted by a GoSr/Dis, Go K12, or GoColleg message when thecard is tapped, 2) using TAP cards with a valid zone 2 30-day, annual, or I-TAP pass asdenoted by a GoRegZ2 or GoColleg message when the card is tapped. Operators must referto line tariffs for fare instructions printed on the back of the summary map.

    PRINTED TARIFFS

    For each line that requires special instructions (i.e., multiple fares, service restrictions,transfer notes, etc.) a fare statement or individual tariff/fare tables are printed on the reverseside of the summary route map.

    A line with no printed tariff indicates the base fare applies on that line from each terminal toall other points on the line, and that all basic fare and transfer rules apply. To identify a linein this category the words Reverse side intentionally left blank are placed on the map sideof the route of line map.

    METRO TOKENS

    Metro Tokens may be substituted for cash in paying Metro base fares. Metro Tokens aresold in bags of ten for $15.00. One Metro Token is valid as base fare.

    Metro Tokens may be used to pay zone increments. The first Metro Token used is valid asbase fare, and each additional token is accepted with a value of $1.50.

    Change will not be given when tokens deposited in the farebox exceed the required fare.Under no circumstances will tokens be redeemed for cash. Metro Tokens will not beaccepted towards the purchase of transfers. However, they may be used to purchase a DayPass on Metro buses (see Metro Day Pass under Metro Passes).

    FARE MEDIA REGULATIONS

    All fare media is the property of Metro and may not be reproduced, altered, or resold. Useand possession of any Metro fare media is conditioned on compliance with the agenciesagreements, policies, laws, ordinances, regulations, and tariffs (for information checkmetro.net or call 323-GoMetro). Violators may be removed and suspended from transitproperty, and their use and possession of fare media may be terminated, confiscated, orrescinded. Valid fare media must be shown on demand and is not transferable, refundable,or replaceable. However, TAP cards enrolled in the Balance Protection program may bereplaced if lost or stolen (subject to a fee). Valid fare media shall not be honored more thanonce on any individual bus or train. Fare media will be confiscated if the user marks, tags orvandalizes Metro property, or uses fare media illegally.

    FARE REGULATIONS FOR METRO RAIL SERVICE

    Metro Rail service is operated on Metro Blue, Gold, Green, Purple, Red and Expo Lines. Foreach rail line a base fare applies to any destination on the line. The base cash fare is: Regular- $1.50; Senior Citizen, Disabled, and Medicare Peak hours - $0.55; Senior Citizen, Disabled,and Medicare Off-Peak hours - $0.25. College/Vocational Students cash fare is $1.50, andK-12 Students with a TAP card is $1.00. All passengers must have proof of valid fare in theirpossession when on the station platform and onboard Metro Rail.

    Additional rules apply to the purchase of Metro Rail tickets:

    Passengers must purchase a Metro ticket or Metro Pass before entering the stationplatform.

    One-way tickets are valid for one boarding only on any individual Metro Rail traintraveling in one-direction away from the station of origin. Passengers transferring fromone Metro Rail line to another Metro Rail line must purchase a new ticket for the secondMetro Rail line or use a valid Metro 30-day, 7-day, Day Pass or EZ transit pass.

    One-way trips must be completed within two hours after purchase of ticket - theexpiration time is displayed on the ticket.

    Metro Day Passes may be purchased on the bus and at a Metro Rail Ticket VendingMachine (TVM) for $5.00. A day pass plus TAP card can be purchased on buses for$6.00. Senior/Disabled patrons can purchase a day pass for $1.80. Metro Day Passes arevalid on all Metro Bus and Metro Rail lines on the day of purchase until 3:00 a.m. thefollowing day.

    Tokens may not be used to purchase a Metro Day Pass from Ticket Vending Machineslocated at Metro Rail or Metro Orange Line stations.

    Authorized law enforcement officers patrol Metro Rail Lines. Rail passengers are required todisplay valid proof of fare when requested by officers. Passengers without valid proof of farepayment are subject to a citation and a fine of up to $250.

    TAP CARDS

    Transit Access Pass (TAP) cards are currently available for a variety of products including

    annual and specific term passes available exclusively to employees of participatingbusinesses or to students and employees at participating universities, colleges, vocationalschools and other institutions; Metro 30-day and 7-day passes; Metro Day Passes; and, Metroemployee, retiree and dependent passes; and stored value (i.e., electronic cash). TAP cardsare honored on all Metro Bus, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Rail lines, though zonecharges may apply.

    TAP cards must be tapped on the farebox, Metro Rail faregate, or Metro Rail stand-alonevalidator (SAV) for each trip. TAP cards may or may not have a photo in the upper left handcorner. TAP cards do not require a validation stamp and are not required to carry a Metrologo. A valid TAP card will produce a beep when tapped on the farebox, and the operatorsOCU (Operator Control Unit) will display a Go message followed by the rider category ofthe cardholder, and the number of zones included where zones may be required (i.e.,GoRegZ0, GoRegZ1, GoRegZ2, GoSr/Dis, Go K12, GoColleg, GoEmploy, GoRetDep,GoAccess, or GoAccs+1). Day Passes will display GoDyPass or GoSD Day when tapped on afarebox. Zone upcharges are required when a Day Pass is used with the exception of Line910 on which a Day Pass is valid fare. Where a zones paid indicator (i.e., Z0, Z1, or Z2) isnot present, the pass on the TAP card is valid on all zones. TAP cards with stored value (i.e.,cards loaded with electronic cash that is deducted for each ride taken) will display the valueof the fare paid (e.g., $1.50) when tapped on the farebox. The operators OCU display will

    show Passback when a valid TAP card is tapped more than once on a single farebox withinseven minutes.

    TAP cards with photo and name printed on the card may also be used as valid reduced fareID for Senior/Disabled cash-paying customers. Patrons using TAP cards with no photo orname printed on a TAP card that displays a Reduced Fare message (i.e., GoSr/Dis,GoS/DZ0, GoColleg, Go K12) when tapped must present a valid photo ID with their TAPcard. The exception to this is Students in grades K through 8.

    Use of a TAP card is subject to the TAP cardholder agreement available at taptogo.net .

    METRO PASSES

    Regular Fare Metro 30-day Pass is valid as base fare on all Metro Bus local, limited-stop,express service, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Rail services to any destination for anunlimited number of rides in Los Angeles County for consecutive 30 days after first use. ATAP regular fare 30-day pass will display GoRegZ0 when tapped during the period for whichit is valid. A TAP Regular fare 30-day pass that includes pre-paid zones will displayGoRegZ1 (one pre-paid zone) or GoRegZ2 (two pre-paid zones). If GoRegZ0 or GoRegZ1displays when a card is tapped, a passenger must pay the appropriate cash zone charges.The price of the Regular 30-day Pass is $75.00. If an individual qualifies (i.e., has provenresidency in unincorporated Los Angeles County and received a County buydown punchcard), the price of the County Metro Pass is $61.00.

    Prepaid express zones are not good for partial payment of fare on special event lines.

    Metro 7-day Passes are valid as base fare on all Metro Bus local, limited-stop, express service,Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Rail services to any destination for an unlimitednumber of rides in Los Angeles County for 7 consecutive days after first use. A valid 7-daypass will display GoRegZ0. A zone passenger using this pass must pay the appropriate cashzone charges. The price of the 7-day Pass is $20.00.

    Metro Day Pass is available in TAP form on Regular or Senior/Disabled TAP cards on MetroBus and TVMs on Metro Rail, or in paper form on TVMs on Metro Rail and is valid forunlimited local rides on Metro Bus, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Rail service.Additionally, Day Passes may be purchased in advance from a retail vendor. Day Passespurchased on Metro Bus or Metro Rail are valid until 3:00 a.m. the following day. DayPasses purchased from a retail vendor are valid on the day when first tapped until 3:00 a.m.the following day. When on a TAP card, a Day Pass will display GoDyPass or GoSD Day. AMetro Rail paper Day Pass is valid until 3:00 am the day following the date indicated on the

    pass. A TAP Day Pass must be tapped on the farebox, Metro Rail faregate, or Metro RailSAV. A paper Day Pass must be presented to the operator unfolded, unaltered and in onepiece, upon boarding. Any zone charge, if applicable, must be paid separately. ASenior/Disabled patron desiring to purchase the Metro Day Pass at a reduced rate on Metrobuses must have a Senior or Disabled TAP card or be in possession of other Senior/Disabledidentification when purchasing a Metro Rail Day Pass.

    Metro Day Passes may be purchased on the bus and at a Metro Rail Ticket Vending Machine(TVM) for $5.00. A day pass plus TAP card can be purchased on buses for $6.00.

    The price of the Metro Day Pass on the bus and at a Metro Rail Ticket Vending Machine(TVM) is $5.00. A day pass plus TAP card can be purchased on buses for $6.00. The price ofa Senior/Disabled day pass is $1.80. Patrons may not purchase more than one day pass for

    each person present at the time of boarding and each person must have their own TAP cardfor Day Passes purchased on Metro Bus. Up to eight Day Passes may be purchased on asingle TAP card at retail vendor locations. Regular Metro Day Pass holders must pay zonecharges of $0.70 per zone (except on Line 910), if applicable. Senior/Disabled Metro DayPass holders must pay zone charges of $0.30 per zone (except on Line 910), if applicable.

    Tokens may be used to purchase a Metro Day Pass on Metro buses. When purchasing a DayPass:

    Metro Senior/Disabled 30-day Pass is valid as base fare for travel on all Metro Bus local,limited-stop, express service, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Rail services to anydestination, for an unlimited number of rides in Los Angeles County. The Senior/Disabled30-day pass is valid for 30 days from first use. A valid 30-day pass will display GoSr/Diswhen tapped. There are no zone charges on express services when Senior/Disabled passesare used. The price of the Senior/Disabled 30-day Pass is $14.00 or if they qualify for theCounty 30-day Pass (i.e., has proven residency in unincorporated Los Angeles County andreceived a County buydown punch card), the price is $8.00.

    A Senior or Disabled TAP card is orange and is printed with the customers photo, name,Senior 2, Senior 5, or LACTOA/Disabled, card expiration date, and a wheelchair symbol forDisabled customers. The 2 or 5 designation on Senior TAP cards denotes whether thecardholder is 62 to 64, or 65 years of age or older. Both are valid Senior ID cards on Metro.Other Senior TAP cards may be printed with a Senior 0 which designates the cardholder as60 or 61 years of age. These cardholders are not valid Senior riders on Metro as MetrosSenior Age is 62. The age designator on the Senior TAP card is needed for other TAPoperators who recognize Seniors at either age 60 or age 65.

    Metro K-12 30-day Pass is valid as base fare on all Metro Bus local, limited-stop, expressservice, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Rail services to any destination, for anunlimited number of rides in Los Angeles County. Student TAP Cards are available tostudents twenty years of age or less who currently attend a Los Angeles County accreditedelementary, junior high or high school. Student TAP cards are only available through the

    TAP Service Center, require a completed Student TAP card application, and are free ofcharge.

    The Student TAP card is orange and is personalized with the students name, Student K-8 orStudent 9-12, and card expiration date. Students in grades 9 12 must have a valid photo IDat all times and are required to show it to Bus Operators and/or Fare Inspectors uponrequest. The student TAP card is not transferable nor is it valid for multiple users. Cardsharing is considered fare evasion and may result in fines up to $250 per incident.

    The Student 30-day pass is valid for 30 days from first use. A valid 30-day pass will displayGo K12 when tapped on the farebox. There are no zone charges on express services for K-1230-day Pass users. The price of the Student 30-day pass is $24.00, or $16.00 if they qualifyfor the County 30-day Pass (i.e., has proven residency in unincorporated Los Angeles Countyand received a County buydown punch card).

    College/Vocational 30-day Pass is valid as base fare all Metro Bus, Metro Rapid, Metro Linerand Metro Rail service. To qualify for a College/Vocational TAP Card, a patron must be afull-time student at a Los Angeles County accredited college, university or vocational school.

    Students can obtain from their school a TAP College/Vocational Application and requireddocumentation as proof of full-time status to establish eligibility. Applications are alsoavailable on the web at metro.net or taptogo.net. The student must present this informationtogether with a 1 x 1 full face only photo of themselves. Approved students will beprovided with an orange College/Vocational TAP card with the students name,College/Vocational, and card expiration date printed on the card. The College/Vocational30-day pass will display GoColleg when tapped. There are no zone charges on expressservices when College/Vocational Student ID Cards are used. The price of theCollege/Vocational 30-day pass is $36.00 or if they qualify for the County 30-day pass (i.e.,has proven residency in unincorporated Los Angeles County and received a County buydownpunch card), the price is $25.00.

    Metro Employee/Dependent Pass is honored on all Metro Bus and Metro Rail lines in allzones when tapped by the person to whom it was issued. The passes are valid as determinedby a valid Go message when tapped on a farebox or a rail station validator.

    A Dependent pass is for children or young adults from age 5 to 22 years old. After 22 yearsold, they are no longer eligible for a dependent pass. Permanent Dependent indicates thatthe child has a permanent disability and is entitled to a pass as long as the parent isemployed by Metro and/or retires. Proof of permanent disability must be presented andfiled in Metro records.

    Employees must not allow their passes to be used by unauthorized persons. Dependentswho allow unauthorized persons to use their pass will loose pass privileges. Dependents arenot allowed to ride on out of service trips.

    Employees and their dependents riding on passes must not occupy seats to the exclusion offare paying customers. The seat restriction does not apply to personnel who are assigned toride for the purpose of checking or instructing.

    A/B/I-TAP Annual, Semester, or Quarterly Pass is available exclusively to employees ofparticipating businesses or to students and employees at participating universities, colleges,vocational schools and other institutions. When tapped, a valid pass will display GoRegZ2for regular full fare cardholders, GoSr/Dis for Senior/Disabled cardholders, or GoColleg forCollege/Vocational cardholders using an A/B/I-TAP product. Zone charges do not apply toA/B/I cardholders as indicated by the valid message displayed when the card is tapped.

    Other TAP Passes such as 3 and 5 day passes are used by special programs. These passeswill display GoRegZ0 when tapped on a farebox and require zone upcharges when used onexpress service.

    EZ transit pass is a regional pass that allows riders to use multiple transit operator serviceswithout having to purchase transfers or pay fare differentials. Currently, the transit systemsbelow participate in the regional EZ transit pass program. Additional local operators in theregion are becoming part of this program on an on-going basis. The EZ transit pass costs$84.00 and the Senior/Disabled EZ transit pass costs $35.00. EZ transit pass premiumstamps cost $22 per zone ($9.50 per zone for Senior/Disabled customers). The EZ transitpass premium stamp is valid only on an EZ transit pass. If a person qualifies, the cost of theCounty EZ transit pass is $70.00 and is $21.00 for the County Senior/Disabled EZ transitpass. Senior/Disabled EZ transit pass holders are not required to pay zone charges whenthey ride Metro Bus or Metro Rail.

    The monthly EZ transit pass is not currently available on TAP cards. However, an Annual

    EZ pass sold through Metros Commute Services Department is available on a TAP card.These passes are available on blue TAP cards personalized with the cardholders photo,name, and company name. When tapped on a farebox, the pass will display GoRegZ2indicating zone charges do not apply. An EZ stamp will be adhered to TAP cards with anAnnual EZ transit pass but the stamp is not an indication of validity on Metro Bus and RailService. The card must be tapped to be valid on Metro.

    OFF-PEAK FARES

    Between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on weekdays, andall day on Saturdays, Sundays, and observed Federal holiday, Metro passengers 62 years ofage and older, Medicare cardholders, and riders who produce identification indicating thatthey have a disability will be charged a base cash fare of $0.25. Customers requesting an off-peak fare for Metro services must present proper identification, as identified below fordetermining Senior or Disabled eligibility, regardless of the method used to pay the fare.Senior/Disabled cash-paying passengers on express routes must pay applicable distanceincrements in addition to the off-peak fare. Passes are accepted during off-peak hours. Off-peak fares are charged based on the scheduled time of arrival. The off-peak fare applies toboth the bus and rail system.

    SPECIAL SHUTTLE SERVICE

    Metro periodically provides seasonal or special shuttle service connecting transit passengersto special events or destinations. Although these lines typically use a shuttle, as opposed to astandard bus, the fare structure is the same as the tariff for regular Metro Bus and/or MetroRail. Therefore, passengers holding a valid Metro Pass or Interagency Transfer may board atno charge. Otherwise, passengers must pay the applicable base cash fare.

    SENIOR CITIZENS

    Customers requesting a reduced Senior Citizen fare for Metro services must be 62 years ofage or older and must present proper identification. One of the following cards must beshown to the operator at the time the fare is paid, regardless of the method used to pay thefare.

    Medicare Card - This is not a photo ID card but nevertheless entitles the holder to areduced fare under Public Utilities Code Section 99155. A valid photo ID must alsobe shown.

    Senior TAP Card This photo ID card is issued by the TAP Service Center. A validTAP product is not required to be loaded to the card when paying cash fare.

    Department of Motor Vehicles Identification Card - The customers photo is affixedto the card.

    Note: Senior Citizens boarding express buses and paying cash fares or presenting transfersmust show the proper identification to receive the reduced cash fare and the reduced

    zone charges. Senior Citizen reduced fares do not apply on certain special eventservices. Senior Day Pass holders must pay zone charges, if applicable, similar to asenior cash fare.

    PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

    Customers requesting a reduced Disabled fare for Metro services must present properidentification. These cards must be shown to the Operator at the time the fare is paid,regardless of the method used to pay the fare. Accepted identification cards include thefollowing:

    Los Angeles County Transit Operators Association TAP Card (LACTOA) -DISABLED and the expiration date must be clearly visible on the face of this photoID TAP card.

    Medicare Card - This is not a photo ID card but entitles the holder to a reduced fareunder Public Utilities Code Section 99155. A valid photo ID must also be shown.

    DMV Placard receipt or proof of SSDI This is not a photo ID card, but entitles theholder to a reduced fare when it is shown with a valid photo ID.

    Identification Card from Other Agencies - Any current valid identification card

    issued to any person with a disability by other transit agencies within the UnitedStates or other appropriate ID shall be honored. If no photo is on the card, anothervalid photo ID must also be shown.

    Customers with Visual Impairments

    Customers who are legally blind will be provided transportation service to anydestination at the same fare payment as customers with other disabilities. One of thefollowing identifications must be displayed when boarding:

    A white cane.

    A valid Braille Institute Legally Blind Identification card.A Braille Institute student identification card.

    ACCESS SERVICES PASS

    Metro accepts the new TAP/VISA Access Services, Inc. (ASI) identification cards as validfare media. The card is green and includes the ASI logo on the upper side of the card and aphoto of the individual pass holder on the left side. The ASI TAP/VISA cards must betapped on the farebox, Metro Rail faregate, or Metro Rail stand-alone validator (SAV) for eachtrip. All operators must allow holders of this card to board Metro Bus and Metro Railwithout charge when the card displays GoAccess when tapped.

    A Personal Care Assistant (PCA) may also accompany the cardholder. When the carddisplays PCA, the personal care assistant has been approved to board free of charge. Anyindividual accompanying the cardholder qualifies as the PCA. The cardholder is notrequired to travel with a PCA. The PCA is not required to show an identification card. Onlyone PCA is allowable per transit trip.

    TRANSFER AGREEMENTS WITH OTHER OPERATORS

    METROLINK

    Valid Metrolink monthly passes and tickets are ONLY applicable as base fare on all MetroBus, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Rail routes as part of the EZ transit pass program.The holders of this fare media, when applicable, must pay zone charges.

    Metrolink one-way and round-trip tickets are only good for travel on the day printed on theticket. Metrolink 10-trip tickets and 4-trip tickets must be date-stamped on the date of useprior to boarding Metro Bus or Metro Rail.

    TRANSFERS BETWEEN METRO AND L.A. COUNTY MUNICIPAL OPERATORS

    Municipal carriers that have formal agreements with Metro will issue Interagency Transfersto customers wishing to transfer to Metro Bus, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Rail.Interagency transfers issued by municipal carriers may also be present on TAP cards andwill result in Transfer displaying on the farebox when the card is tapped. Similarly,customers wishing to transfer to municipal carriers that have interagency transferagreements with Metro will be sold or issued Metro to Muni Transfers for $0.35 for Regularpassengers, and $0.10 for Senior/Disabled passengers. This Metro to Muni Transfer is tobe used by the person to whom it was sold/issued and is not valid on Metro Bus or MetroRail service; it is only valid on other municipal bus operators at any designated transfer pointof the receiving municipal operator. Transfer must be used on day issued during the timeand in the direction indicated.

    Metro Operators will honor Interagency Transfers issued by other agencies as a base fare($1.50 Regular, $0.55 Senior/Disabled). Interagency Transfers will be collected by MetroOperators and therefore, may only be used once on Metro Bus and Metro Rail service.Machine generated transfers will be honored and collected. A passenger boarding a MetroBus using an Interagency Transfer may not then purchase a Metro to Muni transfer; a Metroto Muni transfer may only be purchased when paying a base cash fare or when using a tokenor some other type of Metro Pass to board.

    METRO BUSES IN ORANGE COUNTY

    Passengers boarding a Metro Bus in Orange County will pay the appropriate Metro base fare(and any zone charges, if applicable). The following current fare media are valid for base fareincluding:

    Metro TokenMetro Day PassMetro 7-day or 30-day PassOCTA 30-day Pass (30day pass)OCTA Day Pass (without punch)EZ transit pass.

    Additional zone charges, if required, may be paid in cash ($0.70 regular and $0.30 forSenior/Disabled per zone). Metro 30-day pass holders may purchase zone stamps for $22.00

    per zone (up to two zones). Senior and Student 30-day pass holders are not required to payzone fares for Metro service. Premium stamps for zones are also available for EZ transitpass.

    ACCEPTANCE OF OCTA DAY PASSES ON METRO BUS

    Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) offers a Day Pass for OCTA passengers.The following rules apply in accepting the OCTA Day Pass on a Metro Bus.

    OCTA Day Passes are valid only for the date indicated on the day pass.OCTA Day Passes are valid as base fare only on Metro lines 62, 130, and 460. (Zonecharges, if applicable, must be paid.)If a passenger boarding one of the Metro Bus lines listed above and is using the OCTADay Pass as base fare, the Metro Bus operator will place one punch in the bottom centerof the Day Pass.Once the OCTA Day Pass has been punched, it will not be accepted on additional Metrobuses.

    OCTA Day Passes (punched or unpunched) will not be accepted as valid fare on anyMetro Rail line.Passengers using OCTA Day Passes that have already been punched and that desire totravel on Metro services must purchase a Metro Day Pass or pay the applicable cash fare.

    METRO BUS LINE 460

    Effective November 15, 2004, the $1.00 inter-county (LA/Orange County) charge wasdiscontinued and the base and zone fares were clarified. For example, passengers boardingLine 460 from Disneyland to the Norwalk/Metro green Line Station, will pay Metros basefare. If the passenger proceeds to the 110 Freeway/Manchester Station, one-zone fare must

    be collected by the Operator. If the passenger travels from Disneyland to Downtown LosAngeles, the base fare plus two zone fares must be collected. (See Zone Fare Structureattachment on page 15.)

    METRO PASSENGERS TRANSFERRING TO OCTA BUSES (IN L.A. OR ORANGECOUNTY)

    Transfers are no longer available from any Metro Bus service to OCTA service. If apassenger desires to transfer to an OCTA bus, he will pay the OCTA fare to the OCTAoperator when he boards the OCTA bus.

    ACCEPTANCE OF METRO AND OCTA 30-DAY PASSES ON SELECTED LINESIn November 2002 Metro and OCTA started accepting each agencys bus passes on selectedlines. Metro Bus lines that accept OCTA 30-day (30-day) passes are Lines 62, 130, and 460.OCTA bus lines that accept Metro 30-day passes are Lines 1, 30, 38, 42, 46, 50, 60, 701, 721,and 757. The 30-day passes will not be honored on lines not specified above.

    Metro and OCTA 30-day passes will be applicable for the base fare only. Zone fare chargesmust be paid by the holders of these passes when applicable.

    SPECIAL FARE REGULATIONS

    Metro understands that there are many well-deserving community groups that would like toreceive complimentary boarding on Metros transit system. However, since each boarding isalready highly subsidized, the agency must limit the availability to such programs.

    Metro currently offers complimentary boarding on Metros Bus and Rail for safety and newrider orientation tours and for Metro art tours. The policies and procedures are listed below.

    METRO SAFETY TOURS

    Safetys first for our customers, employees and business partners. To support this mission,Metro provides safety education to the public by hosting Metro Bus and Rail safetyorientation tours. Currently, the following safety tour:

    Metro Safety Orientation Tours for Students (K-12)Metro Safety and New-Rider Orientation Tours

    VIP Safety ToursThe following procedures are to be followed when coordinating and/or participating inon-board Metro Safety Tours.

    Metro Safety Orientation Tours for Students (K-12)

    Metros Community Relations Department is responsible for facilitating Metro safetyorientation tours. Interested school groups are required to submit a written request one totwo weeks prior to the desired date of the safety tour. After a tour is confirmed, Metros Community Relations will arrange to have date-stamped Safety/Art Tour badges forwardedto the requester with instructions for proper use. As a first step, all tour groups must meetat Metro headquarters in Union Station for a rail safety presentation. Safety tours areconducted Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.

    Issuance of Safety/Art Tour badges is controlled by Customer Programs & ServicesDepartment. Community Relations may request badges in allotments of 1,000 bysubmitting a designated tour badge request form. A disbursement log must be kept byCommunity Relations and submitted to Customer Programs & Services before anyadditional badges will be issued for program use. All Safety/Art Tour badges are to be keptin a secure area at all times.

    Passengers wearing a valid Metro Safety/Art Tour Badge may travel on the Metro Bus andRail system at no charge. The badge must be date-stamped and is only valid for the date thatappears on the pass; badges with hand-written dates will not be accepted as valid. Followingthe safety tour, participants may continue to use their badge for the remainder of the day onthe Metro Bus and Rail system at no charge this is offered in order to encourage futureridership on the system. Zones charges do not apply to passengers wearing a MetroSafety/Art Tour badge.

    Metro Safety and New Rider Orientation Tours

    Metros Community Relations Department manages these tours, which are offered to thepublic in general in a similar manner to the Metro safety orientation tours for students K-12,which are described above.

    VIP Tours

    Occasionally, it is necessary to provide complimentary travel on Metro Bus and Rail tovisiting political, public and transit officials when it is in the interest of the agency to extendthis courtesy. Community Relations is responsible for the management of the VIP Tourprogram. These riders are not required to wear a Metro Safety/Art Tour badge. However, atrained and authorized Metro employee must escort them at all times.

    METRO ART TOURS

    Metro commissions artists to incorporate art into a wide array of transportation projectsthroughout Los Angeles County. From bus stops to rail stations, streetscapes to businteriors, construction fences to poetry works, art creates a sense of the past, present andfuture.

    The Metro Art Docent Council, a group of non-profit volunteers, leads tours to increase thepublics awareness of the broad range of artwork throughout the Metro Rail system. Thesetours provide insights to the art, the artists who created them, the processes it took to designthem and the communities they enhance. At present, Metro offers the following art tours:

    Art Tours By Reservation (groups of 15 or more)Art Tours Without Reservations (standing tour the first Saturday and Sunday of themonth, with the exception of holidays)

    The following policies and procedures are to be followed when coordinating and/orparticipating in art tours.

    Art Tours By Reservation

    The Metro Art Docent Council, under the auspices of the Metro Art Department, isresponsible for managing all art tours. The tours are arranged by reservation for groups of 15or more people. Interested parties are required to submit a request at least three weeks priorto their desired tour date. After a tour is organized, a Docent will provide each rider with adate-stamped Safety/Art Tour badge at the time of the tour. Docents are knowledge-based

    volunteers and are in charge of facilitating and accompanying all parties participating inthese tours.

    Please note, student groups must be in the fifth grade or above, and there must be one adultto accompany every 10 students.

    Issuance of Safety/Art Tour badges is controlled by Customer Programs & ServicesDepartment. The Metro Art Department may request badges in allotments of 1,000 bysubmitting a designated Tour Badge request form. A disbursement log must be kept by theMetro Art Department and submitted to Customer Programs & Services Department before

    The Metro Art Department manages this program and offers public art tours on the firstSaturday and Sunday of each month through the Metro Art Docent Council. The Saturdaytour meets at the street level entrance to the Hollywood/Highland Metro Rail Station. OnSunday, the tour meets inside the front entrance to Union Station. Members of the DocentCouncil will be present to distribute date-stamped Metro Safety/Art Tour badges and willlead the tour. Tours are not given on holidays.

    Other FREE FARE POLICIES

    Metro has established policies and procedures when allowing free fare boarding forpredetermined groups of riders. These opportunities are specific to transit-relatedemployment, Metro Programs and certain public groups. The following categories of ridersmay travel on the Metro Bus and Rail system without payment:

    Children under five years of age - A maximum of two children under the age of five (age4 and below), if accompanied by a fare-paying adult or guardian.ASI cardholder - Persons with a TAP/VISA photo identification card issued by AccessServices, Inc (ASI). The card is green and includes the ASI logo on the front side and aphoto of the individual pass holder on the left side. The expiration date is located on thecard.Personal Care Assistants (PCA) , if accompanying an ASI cardholder and only when theASI TAP/VISA card displays PCA. The PCA is not required to show an identificationcard. However, if the ASI card does not display PCA, anyone accompanying the ASIcardholder must pay the applicable fare (Please consult Tariff Notice #00-05 for furtherdetails on the use of ASI passes). The ASI cardholder is not required to travel with aPCA.Art Docents, when carrying an authorized Metro Docent ID may travel on the Metro Busand Rail system at no charge.Transit People is an all-volunteer Los Angeles non-profit organization that conductseducational, one-day trips for children using the public transit system. MetroCommunity Relations will issue date-stamped Safety/Art Tours badges in a similarmanner to the Metro safety tours. Free fare travel is allowed for Transit People tripleaders and their tour group on the Metro Bus and Rail system when wearing anauthorized color-coded Transit People vest in addition to the date-stamped Safety/ArtTour badge.

    Public Law Enforcement Officers - Law enforcement officers of local police agencies, andSheriffs departments in full uniform. Note: Firefighters, paramedics, and securityofficers are not allowed to ride free. LAPD officers in Class A (dress) uniforms withvalid identification may ride the Metro system on a fare-exempt basis so long as officersdo not take seats from fare-paying passengers, and that officers will fulfill theirresponsibilities as peace officers as circumstances require.

    Traffic Control Officers , when in full uniform, may ride in the area bounded byWashington Blvd. on the south, Cesar Chavez Ave. to the north, Alameda St. to the east,and Figueroa St. on the west.Metro employees , their spouses, dependents and permanent dependents with a validMetro ID have access to all Metro Bus and Rail lines. (Employees must not allow theirID to be used by unauthorized persons. Dependents who allow unauthorized persons touse their ID will loose pass privileges. Dependents are not allowed to ride on out ofservice trips. Employees and their dependents riding while using a Metro ID must notoccupy seats to the exclusion of fare paying customers. The seat restriction does notapply to personnel who are assigned to ride for the purpose of checking or instructing.)Other Metro Affiliates such as the Board of Directors, Board Staff, CAC Member,

    Contract Employee, County Council Member and Governance Council Member with avalid Metro badge have access to all Metro Bus and Rail lines. Temporary Consultantswith IDs with an orange border on either side of the photo ID are NOT valid as faremedia.OCTA employees , their spouses, dependents and retirees with a valid agency ID areallowed access to all Metro Bus and rail lines. The OCTA logo and an affixed pictureidentify a valid OCTA ID. Valid IDs are on display in all operating divisions.Omnitrans and Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) employees with a valid ID are allowedaccess to all Metro Bus and Rail lines. Omitrans employee IDs are identified by a bluelogo on a white background. The RTA employee ID is identified by a RTA logo on awhite background. Neither the Omnitrans nor RTA ID has an affixed picture of the

    employee. Valid IDs are on display in all operating divisions.

    ISSUANCE OF ZONE CHECKS

    Zone checks, issued to passengers to identify the number of increments or zones paid, areissued to all passengers paying express fare increments and also to passengers payingminimum fares who must travel beyond a fare limit where checks are collected. Checks willbe issued on all classes of fares, i.e., cash, 30-day passes, employee passes, discount fares,etc.

    On each check issued, the day of the week must be punched.

    COLLECTION OF ZONE CHECKS

    When operating lines in Los Angeles County that require the use of zone checks, unlessexcepted by individual line tariffs, operators will stop their buses at designated limits andcollect zone checks. Overrides are also collected at this time. NOTE: It is each operatorsresponsibility to determine where fare limits and zone check collections are located. Thisinformation can be found with regard to individual lines on the back of the timetable.

    NOTE: On El Monte Busway westbound trips, operators collect zone checks at El MonteStation. On eastbound Busway trips, all passengers are discharged via front door only at ElMonte Station, and zone checks are collected as passengers exit the bus. Before loadingpassengers, zone checks are collected from passengers still seated.

    METRO BUS LINE 450X (EXPRESS)

    Effective June 26, 2005 Metro implemented a new bus line designated 450X (Express), whichtravels to and from the Artesia Transit Center and downtown Los Angeles. The fare on thisline requires a base fare plus two zone fares, or the equivalent of a base fare plus $1.40 forregular passengers and $0.60 for Senior/Disabled passengers. The base fare plus two zonecharges apply to passengers at all boarding points, therefore zone checks are not used on thisline.

    METRO BUS LINE 910 (PREMIUM)

    Effective December 13, 2009 Metro implemented a new bus line designated 910 (Premium),which travels to and from the Artesia Transit Center, downtown Los Angeles and El MonteStation. The fare on this line is as follows:

    Cash Fare - $2.45 ($1.50 Base Fare plus $0.95 premium)Senior/Disabled Fare $1.15 peak or $0.85 off-peak ($0.55 or $0.25 Base Fare plus $0.60

    premium).

    These fares apply to passengers at all boarding points, therefore zone checks are not used onthis line. Premium charges for passes are as follows:

    Day Pass Valid, no premium required (GoDyPass or GoSD Day when tapped)Regular 30-day or 7-day Pass - $0.95 (GoRegZ0 when tapped)Regular 30-day Zone 1 Pass - $0.25 (GoRegZ1 when tapped)

    All other 30-day passes are valid (Regular 30-day Zone 2, Senior/Disabled 30-day, Student 30-day, College/Vocational 30-day). All TAP passes inclusive of premium travel will displayGoRegZ2 or another valid Go message (e.g., GoSr/Dis, Go K12, GoColleg, GoEmploy,GoRetDep, GoAccess, or GoAccs+1).

    REFUND RECEIPTS

    Refund Receipts are issued to customers requesting a refund for amounts greater than fivecents but less than five dollars. The following are two instances in which a customer isentitled to a refund, excluding over-payment with tokens:

    Customers who are unable to provide the correct change for their fare and must depositexcess fare; orCustomers who mistakenly deposited an excess fare payment in the farebox.

    Note: Refund receipts will be issued at the time overpayment is noted. It is not permissibleto make fare refunds by failing to register fares from other customers. In addition, refundreceipts will not be accepted for fare or partial payment of the fare.

    TURN-AROUND LOOPS

    Passengers will be carried on turn-around loops without payment of additional fare unlessotherwise noted on individual line tariffs.

    TRANSPORTATION OF SERVICE ANIMALS ON METRO BUS AND METRO RAIL

    Service animals are animals that are individually trained to perform tasks for people withdisabilities such as guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pullingwheelchairs, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure or performing otherspecial tasks.

    The following regulations will govern the transport of service animals:

    The service animal handler will pay the appropriate fare except when presenting theirReduced Fare ID Card. NOTE: Some persons with disabilities assisted by serviceanimals may present their Los Angeles County Transit Operators Association(LACTOA) ID Cards with a picture of themselves with their respective service animalas a means of facilitating their boardings on buses and trains. However, this photoID is not required to transport these service animals.Service animal owners are not required to pay a fare for the animal.Service animals, including guide dogs, are not required to be muzzled.Guide Dog Puppies (dogs being trained as future guide dogs for the blind) arepermitted on board Metro Bus and Metro Rail. The dog must be wearing a brightyellow jacket identifying it as a dog guide puppy in training. The dog trainer will payfull fare.A passenger paying regular fare may carry a small dog or other pet enclosed in asuitable carrier, the size of which does not interfere with the comfort or convenience

    of other passengers.SERVICE ANIMAL OWNERS AND PASSENGERS WITH SMALL PETS ENCLOSED IN ASUITABLE CARRIER, MUST HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THEIR ANIMAL ON A LEASHNOT TO EXCEED SIX FEET IN LENGTH AT ALL TIMES AND ARE HELD LIABLEACCORDING TO THE LAW. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED ABOVE, DOGS AND OTHERANIMALS WILL NOT BE CARRIED ON METRO BUSES AND METRO RAIL TRAINS.
