REMINDER - Stored Value on TAP August 2,2013 Tariff Notice #11-007 issued August 15,2011, provided notification to operators of the proper procedure to follow for customers who have stored value on TAP cards. TAP cards are designed to carry Metro and Municipal Operator passes, transfers, and Stored Value (cash purse). To ride multiple TAP enabled transit systems, a customer can simply load passes and Stored Value on the same TAP card. When a TAP card with more than one product (passes and/or Stored Value) is tapped onto a firebox, the firebox will fist attempt to validate ifthere is a pass from that agency or an inter-agency transfer issued from another regional transit operator, then the farebox will look to deduct stored value ONLY ifthere is no valid pass or inter-agency transfer loaded onto the card. If a customer boards a Metro bus with a TAP card loaded with only Stored Value (cash),the Operator Control Unit (OCU)for the farebox will display $1.50 or other deduction based upon the patron's rider'dass (i.e. senior deduction w6d-l be $0.55 for peak and $0.25 for off oeak service). Since the deduction of the Stored Value is automatic. ooerators should s i m ~ l v iontinue to konitor the OCU. STORED VALUE on TAq - OCU will display !are deducted (i.e $1.50. $0.55, $0.25) o If a TAP card with Stored Value is tapped on

any Metro bus in local service, the fare will automatically be deducted from the card.

o If a patron asks for a transfer, the Metro Operator will continue to provide a paper transfer. The transfer can be paid with either cash or TAP Stored Value.

o If a TAP card has NO pass, NO transfer, AND NO Stored Value, then the farebox OCU will display TOO LOW.

o In Zone Operation, a TAP card with Stored Value will displav "ZONES?" when the cad is tapped. The operator should select 0.1. or 2 zones !keys 1.2. or 3) based on customer's desired travel and the card should be tapped agah. If successful. the proper zone fare will deduct fkom the card and a valid Go message wiU display. Issue the appropriate zone check to the customer,
