    Socio economic groups

Socio economic groups basically consists of 6 different categories, which

divides the population based on their occupation/job. The six socio

    economic groups are:

A- Higher managerial, administrative, professional e.g. Chief executive, senior civil servant, surgeon

B - Intermediate managerial, administrative, professional e.g. bank

    manager, teacher

C1- Supervisory, clerical, junior managerial e.g. shop floor supervisor, bank

    clerk, sales person

C2 - Skilled manual workers e.g. electrician, carpenter

D- Semi-skilled and unskilled manual workers e.g. assembly line worker,

    refuse collector, messenger

E - Casual labourers, pensioners, unemployed e.g. pensioners without

private pensions and anyone living on basic benefits

After examining the 6 groups we have decided to target group E, which is

classified as unemployed individuals such as students. We believe that our

short film is likely to appeal the lower groups of the socio economic groups

due to the fact that the younger generation tend to fit into group E, and

therefore they are more likely to understand and enjoy what we have tooffer. As well as this the themes we portray such as young and in-love are

more commonly found within teenagers and young adults who are just

    beginning their lives.

We also decided to aim for the slightly older adults aged around 28 who

are most likely to fit into group D, considering that they have most likely

experienced the themes that we aim to portray in our short film. It also

means that they will naturally understand the synopsis/narrative of our film.

    Age

We will be targeting young teenagers from the age of 12 to adults aged 28.

From a viewers perspective our short film will be meaningful yet inspiring to

young people who may still not have found love. It will be created to remind

the youth of what true love is and to the older generations, what it was like

when they were younger. The reason we aim to target adults as well as

teenagers is because our film will allow them both to connect to our film due

to the fact that they can relate to it very easily considering its simplicity.

    Gender

We hope to target both males and females to watch our product, however I

believe it is most likely better suited for females, as further research indicates

that the most common viewer of the genre we are doing is mainly females,

therefore it makes more sense for us to produce something that they will loveby adding additional features that isnt so common in other romances.

However we feel it is important to follow the conventions of a romance in

order to target our specific audience as well as adding rare features in the

genre such as the split screen effect, which links both characters so that the

audience can see from both of their perspectives.

    Ethnicity

Similarly, we aim to target absolutely all ethnicities due to the fact that all

ethnicities do experience love. Our film conveys deep emotion andhappiness, which I believe is also found within all ethnicities.

    BBFC

Throughout our film, we decided to maximise viewing potential by having

such a varied target audience from the ages of 12-28. As a result of this

decision we also have to follow the British Board of Film Associations (BBFC)

guidelines on the age ratings. We decided we wanted to target the age

rating of 12 due to the fact that the film wonthave any sexual scenes, at

most a kiss on the cheek, however this shouldnt affect the age rating we

    hope to achieve.
