In this tarangam Bhoodevi (Mother Earth) sings the praise of lord Vishnu and prays to him to incarnate in the world to save it from the attrocities of evil demons.

Oh compassionate lord, I seek for your shelter. You are the ocean of kindness and you showered mercy on the elephant king who was in deep distress. The attrocities of the demons have become intolerable.

You quelled the demon Madhu. Oh Madhusoodana , dispel my accumulated sins.

You are beautiful with dancing bells on your feet and bracelets on your wrists. You assuage the fears of the learned brahmanas and devatas. You dispel all evil on the earth with kindness. Oh Madhusudana , dispel my accumulated sins.

Your diamond studded earrings shine briliantly and you recline on the Sesha serpent. You are embellished with many virtues and you flourish both in micro and macro forms. The diamond studded pavlion is your abode. Garuda bird is your great vehicle. You live in the hearts of sages. Oh Lord Madhusoodana, dispel my accumulated sins.

C 3 ari bheekara hali sodara paripoorNa sukhAbdhE narakantaka narapAlaka paripAlita jaladhE harisEvaka Siva nArA yaNa teertha parAtman madhusoodana madhusoodana hara mAmaka duritam ||

You are terror to your enemies. You are Balarama's brother. You are the ocean of absolute happiness. You destroyed Naraka and protected all. You ruled the earth and the oceans, Narayana teertha is the devoted servant of Sri Hari. Oh Madhusoodana, dispel all my accumulated sins.

In this Tarangam Brahma and other devatas worship Sri Maha Vishnu before his incarnation as Krishna. Narayana Teertha picturises the form and functions of Sree Maha Vishnu the sole sustainer of the universe.

You recline on Nagendra the king of serpants.

Oh! Narayana, you are the progenetor of Brahma from your lotus like navel. You shine like a bright cloud. You are the embodiment of all movable and immovable objects and all men and women. Narada and other sages bow to you. You are incomprehensible.

Oh! Narayana, You are the repository of countless virtues. The vedas and the other scriptures chant your praise. You are devoid of fear and sorrow. You are pure as the sky and your thoughts are profound. You are like the Sun to the lotus like hearts of devotees.

C 3 karadhruta rathacharaNa kambu pankaja koumOda keeSArgnAya niravadya gaLa sObhi nija koustubha bhooshAya parihruta para paksha pakshi rAja vAhAya ||

You hold the conch, discus, the lotus, the mace and the bow. You are adorned with grand koustubha gem. You vanquish the enemies of Dharma. The Garuda bird is your vehicle.

C 4 JagadEka nAthAya jAta madanAya Jita vyri manDalaya nigama niSvAsAya nityA nanda roopAya nirupama gOkula neeta navaneetAya ||

Oh! Narayana you are the sole lord of the universe. You are the creator of Manmatha. You vanquish the enemy clan. You are the breath of the vedas. You are embodiment of eternal happiness. You enjoy butter in Gokulam.

Oh! Vasudeva, you are lotus eyed. You are the sacred Parijata tree that fulfills the wishes of sages. You are the ocean of kindness. Narayana Teertha bows to your lotus feet.

Sri Krishna was born to Devaki in the prison cell. His divine effulgence revealed that he is the incarnation of Sri Maha Vishnu. Devaki and Vasudeva sing this song in great devotion.

Oh! Lord, You are the abode of auspiciousness. Brahma and other Gods meditate upon you.

Jaya Jaya durgE - durga

Sri Krishna was born to Devaki in Kamsa's prison cell. He was born with divine effulgence of Sri Mahavishnu. Vasudeva in order to implement the divine plan revealed by Akashavani (clairvoyance) exchanges Devaki's child Krishna with Yasoda's child at Nandigram. Kamsa attempts to kill Yogamaya, the child with Devaki in vain. She is none other than the mighty Goddess Durga. She declares that the child who would be death knell to Kamsa is already growing somewere else. Rejoicing with this happy revelation the Devatas and the Sages sing this song praising Mother Durga.

Oh! Mother Durga, the vanquisher of all enemies, victory to you. You create this wonderful universe, the air, the sky and every thing.

Beautiful are your lotusfeet. You rule the vast humanity bestowing happiness. Yogis like Nanda, Sunanda and others bow to you. You are the sister of Sriman Narayana and you flourish in supreme bliss.

Diamond studded dancing bells on your feet echo with melodious notes of samaveda. The celestial musicians, devatas and men sing your praise. Sage Nanda worships you. You are filled with supreme bliss.

Your beautiful body is covered with golden dress. You bestow prosperity and your face is charming. Your divine ornaments radiate like million Suns. You skilfully bestow your favourite devotees their heart's desires.

Introduction.The Gopikas sing this song praising the beauty of Krishna. They recognise him as the incarnation of Sri Maha Vishnu who came to the earth to establish Dharma.

Oh! Sri Krishna, you are Sriman Narayana, you are the abode of auspiciousness.

AP sAdhaka phalada krishNa sabala Sree krishNa ||

The devotees who pray to Krishna along with Balabhadra are bestowed with the fruits of their wishes.

C 1 nanda nandana mukunda sundara mukhAravinda nandita gopikA brunda nata janAnanda indirA hrudayAnanda indu vadana gOvinda mandara dhara sunanda vandya sAnanda ||

Oh! Mukunda the son of Nanda, You are charming with your lotus like face. All the devotees and Gopikas are blessed with perpetual happiness. Your consort Indira's (Lakshmi's) heart is filled with joy. You bore the Mandara mountain on your back(In Koorma avatara). Sages like Nanda and Sunanda bow to you in all reverence.

C 2 divya kastoori tilka deenajana paripAlaka bhavya yOgi bhaya vAraka bhaktO ddhAraka avyaya bhooti dAyaka agaNita lOkanAyaka nava nava neeta rasika nanda bAlaka ||

You are divine with saffron mark on your forehead. You are the succor to the distressed. You protect yogis from all worries. You uplift your devotees. You bestow infinite powers. You are the lord of countless number of worlds. Yet, you are here as Nandas boy enjoying butter.

You run around with beautiful dancing bells on your tender feet. You are the repository of all virtues. You are abosored in sweet music.

The Gopikas sing this song while playing with Krishna. They request the playful Krishna to repeat his pranks.

You are Indra's lord. It is impossible for demons to defeat you. You are the valiant Padmanabha who dispels the arrogance of demons.

In this tarangam Gopikas describe the great qualities of Sri Krishna who is none other than Sriman Narayana. They praise him as the embodiment of Satchitdananda.( truth, conciousness, bliss)

Look at the most beautiful boy Krishna.

Krishna is not attached to the worldly things. He is the splendour of this universe. He is the conquerer of the enemies of Devatas.

Meaning He is the absolute truth. He is the limitless. He is very compassionate. All the devotees are immersed in the ecstasy of his divine dance.

Meaning He is the shore of the ocean of problems. He is the quintessence of all the sacred vedas. He always emancipates the yogis.

He is the embodiment of love. He is absorbed in music and literature which are like the beautiful waves of the river Ganga.

The whole world is fascinated by his presence along with Balarama. Our desires are fulfilled.

He is the great preacher of the four fundamental duties of an ideal man i.e dharma, artha, kama,moksha (righteousness prosperity, desire, salvation) Sri Krishna dispels all the calamities and protects Narayana Teertha.

Kalaya YaSodE - KEdAragouLa - Adi

In this tarangam the maidens of Gokulam come to mother Yasoda to complain about the mischivous deeds of Balakrishna along with his friends.

Oh Yasoda, look at your boy Krishna, He is always playing with mischievous boys.

He steals lots of butter and his mystic sports are unheard of anywhere. He pretends innocence. He plays with his golden ball.

C 2 pathi pathi lunThita dadhi bhAnDam pApa timira Sata mArtAnDam adhi balOdhruta jaga danDam Ananda bOdharasa makhanDam ||

Curd pots in the street are broken by him. He dispels the darkness of sin with the brilliance of hundred Suns. He is the one who lifted the earth in his varaha avatara (incarnation as boar). He is the teacher parexecellence bestowing us eternal bliss.

C 3 malla bAlaka khElana chaturam manasija koTi lAvanyadharam kalyANa guNa nava maNi nikaram kamaneeya koustubha maNi sEkharam ||

He is skilful in wrestling with tough boys. He is more beautiful than a million cupids. His noble quatities are like nice gems and the koustubha gem on his chest is attractive.

C 4 Charanam 4 navaneeta chorabAlaka charitam nandAdi vraja puNya taru phalitam

Nanda and his subjects of Brindavan are fortunate to experience the holy story of this

dhruvapada phala mEta dati lalitam bhuvi nArAyaNa teertha yati phaNitam ||

butter thief because of their pious deeds. Yogi (ascetic) Narayana Teertha sings this Dhruva Padam with the most beautiful words.

Mother Yasoda tied krishna to a grinding stone. When he dragged the stone, it stuck between two trees and uprooted them. Nalakubera and Manigreeva who remained as those trees due to a curse, got redeemed. Then they sang this song praising Sri Krishna.

You have incarnated as the supreme soul with the resplendance of a million Suns. You are the supreme consciousness. The learned have immense faith that you obliterate all sins. You are above delusion and flourish in infinite splendor.

C 2 satya kAmAdi guNakam sarva hrudayA bhAsakam nitya mangala mivaham nirgata mOham pratyaya bAdhita Sokam prati bhAti sarva lOkam mrutyu janmAdi viraham satya lokAdi sarva dEham ||

You are capable of achieving what you want. You illuminate our hearts. You are ever auspicious. You are above delusion. You drive away grief and radiate the cosmos. You are free from birth or death. You are the embodiment of the universe.

Brahma sings your praise. Your glory is infinite. You bestow our wishes. You are unperturbed and you shine with pleasant countenance. Pious yogis know that you are the God born as Gopala in the Gokulam (family of cowherds).

Mother Yasoda was thrilled to see the whole cosmos, when krishna opened his mouth. She sings this song in all ecstasy stating that he is Sri Maha Vishnu whom all the yogis yearn to see.

jaya jaya gOkula bAla - kuranji - Adi

Once Brahma wanted to test the greatness of Krishna and stole some cowherd boys and cows. He hid them away from Gokulam. Krishna, who is omniscient , took their form by his maya and kept them all in the village itself. Brahma realises his mistake and chants the praise of Sri Krishna in this song.

You are the embodiment of the universe and all the galaxies. You are the creator of innumerable Manus. (manus are reponsible for the propagation of the humanity). We are all cows depending on your mercy.

Brahma prays to Sri Krishna stating that Sriman Narayana descended to the earth as human being to obliterate the sins of the mankind. He adds that he is the quintessence of the wisdom of all the scriptures and he is the purpose and the meaning of all the philosophic truths.

In this popular tarangam Narayana Teertha describes the prayers of the wives of the sages. They were very happy to serve food to Krishna and his cowherd friends. It was prasadam (food offered to God) distributed after an yajna (sacrifice) was performed by the sages.
