ALT ROCK/ROOTS

With a voice and sensibility that is this country’s most important song line, archie Roach captured the hearts and minds of a nation with his 1990 album charcoal Lane and the landmark song “Took The Children Away”, winning two aria awards and a listing in the us Rolling Stone Top 50 albums for 1992, then going on to release four seminal albums in all by 2002.

This intimate cREaTIon show brings to life for the very first time this majestic body of archie Roach’s early work, both old and found, a homemade gift from the healing hands of our nation’s most cherished storyteller and songman.

This is also a TANK 4 UP LATE evening, with guest artist Kirsty Burchill.

ARCHIE ROACH: CREATION SATURDAY 12 JULY CREATiOn is a collection of deeply spiritual songs gifted to the world by one of Australia’s much loved and revered singer/ songwriters.

seymour’s knack for continually producing songs that resonate is probably due in part to the diversity of his activities, which includes composing for film scores, writing and performing music for theatrical productions, as well as acting – with Mark continuing to draw audiences with his intense, passionate vocals,

delivered with a measure of wry humour. still buzzing from the Hunters reformation gigs on the recent Bruce springsteen tour, Mark is currently touring with his band The undertow, on the back of his 7th album, Seventh Heaven Club.

This is also a TANK 4 UP LATE evening with guest artist, Eddie skiba.

ou HaI QIanG’s residency in June saw him share the art of traditional chinese kite making with local artists, including HayLEy GILLEsPIE, who will now pass on these new skills with this holiday workshop.

RIcHaRd WonG’s workshop will teach the delicate art of oriental brush watercolour - with students surrounded by the artist’s own works that will be hanging in an exhibition in Tank 4 gallery, concurrently.

using sculptural ceramic form and linear monoprint, yalanji artists have worked to express the idea of ‘vessel’ as a traditional and contemporary container of domestic importance. The ceramics forms reference the yalanji rainforest environment. The monoprints are printed from a wooden bench and

made collaboratively from designs developed by individual artists. Minimal in design and approach and starkly black on white, the prints are striking counterpoint to the natural tactility of the ceramics.
