All of the kids have settled well in to their new classes and lots of great learning and fun has been happening. Parent Teacher Interviews will be held this week. Dont forget to check your appointment time. Thanks so much to all of our volunteers that have been helping with canteen and home readers. Your time is very much appreciated. Congratulations and well done to our super swimmers who attended the zone swimming carnival last week. Please see the report later in this newsletter. I will be taking Long Service Leave this week to head up to Hervey Bay for the memorial of my Dad s passing. Mrs Doyle will be relieving for me while I am away. Please call the office if needed. If you haven't already, head up through the school to the top side of top field and explore our new education track built by Synergy Trails. We'd love to hear your feedback! Here are some photos to entice you up there! The construction of the second part of the project, the natureplay area, has been held up by wet weather but we're excited at the way it's shaping up. The crew from Synergy Trails has been working in the mud trying to get it finished. Please encourage them on social media and on your way past the site fencing near Rofe Street - they've been doing a fantastic job. Hopefully the project will be done soon, we can take down the fencing and the kids can explore the new natureplay area! The project is funded by the NSW Government under the "My Community" grant program. We're always appreciative of school/teacher/parent input. Simon Conway is busy designing/building a picnic table (thanks Simon!). We're likely to have a volunteer planting/landscaping day in the near future so please let us know if you're interested in participating or being involved in other ways. We also need to have an official "opening" to comply with our grant requirements (Covid-willing). If you love party planning this will be a good reason to celebrate! Thanks for the support, The Environment Team (Lindy, Libby & Sarah)

Harmony Week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia

home. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. It is a day for all Australians to

embrace cultural diversity and to share what we have in common. Our diversity makes Australia a great place to live.

The central message for Harmony Week is that ‘everyone belongs’, reinforcing the importance of inclusiveness to

all Australians. Harmony Week aims to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious

diversity and foster sense of belonging for everyone.

Our cultural diversity:

Australia is a vibrant and multicultural country — from the oldest continuous culture of our first Australians to the

cultures of our newest arrivals from around the world. Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at

the heart of who we are. It makes Australia a great place to live.

Multicultural Australia is an integral part of our national identity. All people who migrate to Australia bring with them

some of their own cultural and religious traditions, as well as taking on many new traditions. Collectively, these

traditions have enriched our nation.

Countries represented at CPPS:

Greece, Spain, UK, NZ, Argentina, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Poland,

Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Canada, Lebanon, Thailand, USA.

On Tuesday, 16th of February 2021, 18 students from Coal Point attended the

Zone Swimming Carnival at Speers Point Swim Centre with Miss Frost and Mr

Freeburn. The students stood out wearing their yellow Coal Point swimming

caps as their heads bobbed up and down in the water. Our school was

represented by: Tyler D, Leo P, Liam L, Hayden W, April M, Ruby B, Heidi P,

Tahlia T, Abby L, Connor M, Taylor G, James S, Nicholas K, Sienna D, Lieve P,

Victoria H, Helena M and Riva W.

A huge congratulations to each and everyone of these 18 students who

demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, courage and spirit in each of their age

races. It was also fantastic to see and hear students cheering on their peers as

they were swimming in their age races. The students had a very enjoyable day

and participated enthusiastically.

Congratulations to Riva for competing in her first Zone Swimming Carnival.

Congratulations to Tyler D, Leo P, Liam L, Hayden W, April M, Ruby B, Tahlia

T, Abby L , Connor M, Taylor G, James S, Nicholas K, Sienna D, Lieve P,

Victoria , Helena and Heidi P who have qualified for the Regional Swimming

Carnival being held at Lambton Swimming Pool on Tuesday 2 March.

Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who came along and could be

heard cheering loudly for the Coal Point team especially during the Junior and

Senior Boys and Girls Relays. Thank you to Miss Frost for all her hard work in

organising the Zone Swimming Carnival.

Well done Coal Point,

Mr Freeburn

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We desperately need some more volunteers to help us in the canteen, otherwise we may need to cap orders or

sadly have to close for that day.

Volunteers are rostered on Thursday and Friday mornings from 8.30 until roughly 12pm, but if you only have an

hour we can make that work too!

Contact us on [email protected] for more information.

Thank you
