Junior, how many times have

I told you not to play in nets?

A Clear PurposeAs Jesus passed by a fishing village one day, he spotted several fisherman in their boats mending nets. He got into one of the boats and asked its owner, Simon Peter, to cast off. Later, after teaching a large crowd of people, he told Peter to drop his net into deep waters. It turned into the catch of a lifetime! In the end Peter and his brothers decided seriously to follow Christ.

A Simple MessageIn all of history, no message has had a more powerful impact on people than the simple, clear message of Jesus Christ. You are in a position to take His story to your campus. Since you are a student, you’ve got the edge on being a missionary to your friends.

But let’s be honest. Sometimes we avoid the real issues, talking about spiritual stuff, but never really get around to actually leading someone to Christ. That’s why knowing what to say to communicate your faith can be so helpful. Using an evangelistic tool is very helpful in communicating clearly.

Have any of you ever seen a tool used in evangelism? Tell us about it. talkabout

Read Luke 5:1-11 and discuss the questions below:

How many fish did Peter catch the first night?

How did he feel about it?

After Jesus gave him instruction, how many fish did Peter catch?

How did Peter respond to this amazing catch?

What did Jesus tell Peter he would be doing from now on? What did Jesus mean by that?

Jesus told Peter that from now on he would be catching men instead of fish. In other words, he would be telling others about Him. Peter at once saw the purpose for his life, dropped everything and followed Jesus.

What does it really mean to drop everything and follow Jesus?
