As many of you already know, Publicis Groupe is the owner of the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society. The Women’s Forum is one of the world’s largest and most impactful women’s conferences in the world. The G7 summit which took place in La Malbaie (Canada) embraced gender equality and women’s empowerment as a one of its priorities and the Women’s Forum took the opportunity to craft a manifesto which is reprinted below.

* * *

We call on the governments of the G7 nations to:

1. Lead by example in the public sectorThe G7 governments must demonstrate their own commitment to gender equality and set the right example, thus increasing their credibility to call on the private sector to follow.

2. Implement and enforce laws and levers for women’s safety and security To achieve equality, women must feel safe in their homes, workplaces, communities and public spaces — and cannot be disadvantaged by violence inflicted upon them.

3. Create the conditions for gender equality in the workforce and employment pipelineGovernments alone cannot achieve key goals for gender equality — although they can help create the right conditions for doing so, working together with the private sector.

4. Ensure equal access to education and technological training to foster inclusive innovation and equal outcomes for women Today girls and women do not have equal access to advanced technological training, particularly in communities of diverse incomes. Education and vocational systems must be reformed to provide such training to achieve equal outcomes for women.

5. Empower women to contribute to solutions to climate changeClimate change impacts men and women differently, therefore climate-focused action needs to be gender-responsive. This requires women’s active involvement at all levels of policymaking.

6. Adopt shared principles in the implementation of policiesThe G7 governments must adopt common principles, such as harmonisation of best practice and transparent reporting, to ensure that recommendations are implemented smoothly and are sustained.

7. Draw on women’s leadership Governments must actively ensure that women’s voices, perspectives, expertise and leadership are included equally in decision-making.

The world needs women’s leadership. At a time when we are seeking to over-come disruption and division, create inclusive societies, and drive sustain-able growth, women’s full participation in our governments, workplaces and communities has the greatest poten-tial to achieve solutions.

At Women’s Forum Canada, hosted May 10 and 11 in Toronto on the theme “Bridging the gap: A call to the G7 for inclusive progress,” the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society asked women leaders what policies G7 nations should adopt to contribute to greater equality and empowerment for women. We call on G7 nations to focus their efforts on these policy areas, drawing from the insights of female leaders from around the world to inform their priorities, initiatives, and agendas for empowering women.

The world needs women’s leadership A call for action

Our manifesto for the 2018 G7 Summit

The Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society remains committed to representing the diverse voices of women’s leadership, and serving as a sounding board for the G7, G20 and other high-level governmental bodies now and in the future. While this manifesto is not designed to be a consensus statement of all the Women’s Forum partners, contributors and delegates, it is endorsed by the Women’s Forum leadership.

Women’s Forum Canada delegates dared to raise their voice.

Publicis Groupe’s Chief Diversity Officer and Chief Inclusion & Experience Officer In Their Own WordsTALENT ENGAGEMENT & INCLUSION QUARTERLY (TEIQ): Congratulations, Renetta, on your new role as Publicis Groupe’s Chief Inclusion & Experience Officer. We’d like to take this opportunity to help bring to life what you will bring to the table in your new role and how this differs from Sandra’s role as Chief Diversity Officer. Can you each please provide an overview of your areas of focus?

RENETTA: At Publicis Groupe, we see diversity and inclusion playing a crucial role in our offering to clients. In a world where the lines are blurring, where business models are rapidly changing and every industry has to reinvent itself, our ability to identify and bring diverse points of views and experiences will make a key difference to our talent and our clients. I will first focus on our most senior talent teams and will assist Business Leaders, Global Client Leaders and Chief Talent Officers in building diverse teams and connecting diversity and inclusion to their clients’ business imperatives.

SANDRA: For my part, I will continue to lead Publicis Groupe’s Talent Engagement & Inclusion Team, which is dedicated to making Publicis Groupe ever stronger and more competitive in the marketplace by promoting an engaging and inclusive work environment for all. As our readers know from previous issue of this newsletter, the Talent Engagement & Inclusion team sponsors a wide variety of industry events that serve as a pipeline of talent into Publicis Groupe agencies. Once in the network, talent have an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of professional development opportunities on topics such as inclusive recruiting, unconscious bias, managing inclusion, and straight talk. And for talent wanting to turbo-charge their experience within Publicis Groupe, there are many business resource groups (BRGs) that are active across the network.

TEIQ: From these descriptions, the two roles are clearly connected. How will you be collaborating moving forward?

SANDRA: You’ve hit the nail on the head when you reference collaboration. Renetta and I have a long track record of partnership via our participation in Publicis Groupe’s Talent Engagement & Inclusion Council. Very much in the spirit of Publicis Groupe’s Power of One positioning, we will make sure that our collective efforts are in synchrony and that we are building on each other’s efforts and successes.

RENETTA: My new role is a testament to Publicis Groupe’s ongoing commitment to and interest in dedicating even more human and financial resources in support of diversity and inclusion. As was reported in a previous issue of the Talent Engagement & Inclusion Quarterly, Publicis Groupe’s win of the USAA business was in part a testament to Publicis Groupe’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

TEIQ: How can our readers stay up to date with your collective efforts, initiatives, and successes?

SANDRA: This quarterly newsletter will continue to serve as a vehicle to report on all things related to diversity and inclusion. Stay tuned for updates in future issues!

Time’s Up / Advertising Letter of SolidarityEarlier this year TIME’S UP/ADVERTISING took flight with the release of a joint statement signed by many senior women within our industry, many of them from across Publicis Groupe’s agency network. Below is a reprint of that letter.

* * *

Hey, Sisters, we know.

At the end of January, a small group of us came together to talk about what was going on in the industry and in our offices and what we could do about it. That long night turned into more meetups and phone calls and hundreds of emails. Many hundreds of emails. Along the way, we have grown from 14 women to 200.

We had a lot of questions. We questioned ourselves and each other, and we shared and heard stories that made us both sad and hopeful. As representatives of both independent and holding company agencies, we saw that we had a lot of different processes and procedures that were designed to help but aren’t enough on their own.

We don’t for a minute believe we found all the answers. We found some. You’ve searched and found them too. The answers are there; they just need to be picked up and realized. Answers need to be acted on.

As women in senior leadership positions in advertising, we’ve agreed that we have the power to change this business we love until it looks more like the industry we want to lead.

As leaders, it’s on us to foster a workplace where people are challenged but still respected.

Sexual harassment is not OK. Never. No exceptions. No amount of talent, missed cues, or being great in the room unchecks the No Sexual Harassment box.

Old power dynamics are a lot of the problem. Power that blurs the lines between what you get to do/have/touch/ask for/expect and what you don’t. It’s time to talk candidly about the responsibility that comes with power.

We look at the lack of diversity in this group of women and see the long-term effect of power structures that encouraged some of us to rise but held others back. We see you. We see your talent. We see the gap. We want share of voice and share of power for everyone.

As we build on the determination of the women and like-minded men in our industry and the agencies who have stepped forward, we’re stepping forward too.

Time’s up, advertising.

Time’s up on sexual harassment.

Time’s up on lack of representation.

Time’s up on inequity.

Time’s up on silence.

TIME’S UP is organizing as a global force for business reform across industry categories. To us, a commitment to reform represents common ground where we can gather in optimism and move forward, together. We’re proud to be the first new industry vertical to formally align with this group and its intentions.

TIME’S UP/ADVERTISING’s mission is to drive new policies, practices, decisions, and tangible actions that result in more balanced, diverse, and accountable leadership; address workplace discrimination, harassment, and abuse; and create equitable cultures within our agencies….

Together, we’ll draw the rest of the road map, which should include:

ACTION:Commit to creating solutions that work, starting with examining the processes and policies that have failed us.

ACTION:Identify and mentor people representing diversity across the board and who are ready to become agency leaders.

ACTION:Adoption of progressive agency training and education that brings this discussion and its solutions out into the open in our agencies.

We’ll post our goals and progress at timesupadvertising.com. Like our TIME’S UP sisters, we remain committed to holding our own workplaces accountable and pushing for swift change. Our companies should be safe and equitable spaces for all.

If you run an advertising agency and would like to commit to our actions to create policy change, contact us. If you would like to support and stand with us, please consider a donation to the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, which will help defray legal and public relations costs in select cases for those who have experienced sexual harassment or related retaliation in the workplace.

In solidarity,

Your advertising sisters

Meet Our New Business Resource Group Portal

By our most recent count, there are now 53 chapters of our nine Business Resource Groups (BRGs) operating across the country. One of the most tedious tasks for any BRG leader is keeping up to date with the people asking to be added or removed from the various distribution lists. For this reason, Publicis Groupe’s Talent Engagement & Inclusion team set about designing a BRG Portal, brought to life by Re:Sources, that would allow Publicis Groupe’s talent to curate their own BRG experience by opting in and out of distribution lists at will.

If you have ever wondered which BRGs are available in your city and how to opt in and out of their distribution lists, we now have a one-stop destination for you to visit. Remember, for the most part our BRGs are open to all members of the Publicis Groupe community, and allies are encouraged to join distribution lists and attend events, too. The one BRG that is a closed

community is Publicis Connects which is for members of the human resources, resource management, and recruiting community.

Need another reason to join a BRG distribution list? Well, the BRGs offer a variety of experience-enhancing opportunities which always have a participation cap. If you want to increase your chances of scoring a ticket to an upcoming professional development workshop, panel discussion, volunteer event, or drag pageant, it’s best to be on the initial distribution list rather than hearing about these opportunities through the grapevine when slots are already filled.

To opt in and out of BRG distribution lists, please visit our new BRG Portal here: https://tinyurl.com/ybq27hlv

A big thank-you goes to the Re:Sources Team that helped bring the BRG Portal to life: Afjal Hussain, Amit Aggarwal, Anjan Dutta, Bulbul Goel, Divij Choudhary, Isha Sabharwal, Loveleen Kaur, Neeraj Jain, Neetu Tanwar, Nirupama Keshri, Nita Gope, Puneet Nijhawan, Ramandeep Singh Soodan, Sarfaraz Alam, and Swati Kansal.

Pan-Asian Annual Event at Starcom“When you learn something from people, or from a culture, you accept it as a gift, and it is your lifelong commitment to preserve it and build on it.”

Yo-Yo Ma

Publicis Groupe has always been a pioneer when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Various cultures and diverse backgrounds surround us here. This is immensely valuable in terms of exposure and needless to say, it is a feeling of joy and unity. Nevertheless, it is very important for all of us here to make the best out of this rare opportunity which is helped by Publicis Groupe’s Business Resource Groups (BRGs) and Starcom’s Employee Networking Groups (ENGs).

Within Starcom’s PAN-ASIAN ENG group we strive to make people aware of the Asian-American community and its culture. We realize how important our cultures are and the immense value they provide. The combination of

this diverse upbringing and the cultural blend makes one special. These skills are usually underappreciated and much more valuable than they might seem to be. The PAN-ASIAN ENG helps one make the best of such cultural opportunities and aims at attaching a sense of utility to one’s culture.

Our annual event on 5/31 focused on two aspects:

1. Preparing for the cultural transition one faces when moving between countries/cultures. These included both the personal and the professional struggle(s).

2. Finding, polishing, and utilizing cultural opportunities at Publicis Groupe. These included both media and non-media opportunities.

Our distinguished guest speakers included Helen Lin (EVP—Publicis Media), Anand Pandya (EVP—Zenith) and Pooja Nayak (VP—Starcom). The speakers took time out of their busy schedules to talk to the audience about their personal journeys, struggles, and suggestions about how to make the best out of this opportunity. The focus was on “never feeling left out,” and more importantly, to realize this as a strength as opposed to a burden. The event became a series of honest and heartfelt discussions, which motivated the audience to get more involved. In addition, the event served as a great source of awareness for people in the audience who were new to the Asian community.

We truly believe in contributing to every aspect of diversity at Starcom and Publicis Groupe. This event did not just bring us together but made us realize what we can do to add value to our community and to the Groupe at the same time.

Women@Digitas Chicago Explores Intersectionality over Tea

Every year, Women@Digitas Chicago plans a variety of events for Women’s History Month that serve to bring the agency together to learn about and celebrate women. This year, I was lucky enough to join the leadership of the Women@Digitas group, along with Sara Nettesheim and Kendall Stemper, just in time to help plan our 2018 events.

As we started meeting and discussing what we wanted to take on this Women’s Month, we kept coming back to intersectionality—and specifically the fact that we wanted to understand it better, what our role is, and how we can be better allies. As white, cisgender women, we knew that we had privilege that many do not share and that we still had a lot to learn about being inclusive of all women and men, and we wanted to bring this conversation into Digitas.

This led to the development of our Women’s Month theme for 2018: Pull Her Up, which was a call to action for everyone at Digitas to lift up the women, and men, around them who are not as privileged, who don’t have a platform to speak up and automatically be heard, and to celebrate each other and work together to make an impact.

One of the highlights of Women’s Month was our intersectionality Brave Space, where women and men at Digitas Chicago came together to talk about the definition of intersectionality, its impact on their lives, their identities, etc. After the Brave Space ended, the conversation continued for about two hours, and the group decided that this wasn’t a conversation that should stop, but one that should be ongoing and evergreen—independent of Women’s Month. This seemed especially relevant knowing that we had low male attendance, even though intersectionality is not just about feminism and is not just a women’s issue.

With the Brave Space coming to an end, IntersectionaliTEA was born. IntersectionliTEA is a new platform within Digitas Chicago that we hope will expand to other offices. It is a safe space that allows us to come together to continue the conversation, to share our experiences with our coworkers, to explore relevant topics, and to increase our awareness and understanding of intersectionality together. Our first IntersectionliTEA included tea and snacks, of course, and the conversation was prompted by questions like: “What are your biggest challenges being your true self at work?” and “What are you not hearing in the conversation around the intersectionality movement that you think needs to be included?”

In the future, our goal is to cohost IntersectionaliTEA with all of our other employee resource groups, like Chez Nous, our LGBTQ+ group, as well as Onyx- our black employee resource group. Now that we have kicked things off, we hope to continue to see more and more coworkers joining our event, and we look forward to our upcoming tea times and other exciting Women@Digitas events happening later this year.

Women Leaders Rock at Publicis Health

At Publicis Health, our long-standing mantra has been “Women Leaders Rock.” In recognition of Women’s History Month in March, WMNLDRSRCK became both a celebratory rallying cry and a branded campaign amplified across our solution hub and beyond. Created by Digitas Health, WMNLDRSRCK took shape as digital stickers and banners as well as print ads that appeared in industry publications. Publicis Health employees nominated their favorite women leaders to be featured in our WMNLDRSRCK social campaign which gave well-earned shout-outs to stellar femmes from across our global network. As one of our most well-received internal campaigns, which included a WMNLDRSRCK takeover of our Facebook page, the momentum of celebrating women leaders continues with WMNLDRSRCK-branded ads, swag, and other collateral materials.

Our commitment to fostering a culture of gender parity and inclusion starts from the top of our organization. Nick Colucci, Chairman of Publicis Health and Chief Operating Officer of Publicis North America, was recognized by the Healthcare Businesswoman’s Association (HBA) on May 3, 2018, for his achievements and dedication to the advancement of women leaders. Named 2018 Honorable Mentor, Nick received HBA’s highest recognition for a male ally who champions gender parity in the healthcare industry. Nick’s award marked the first time that a non-pharma executive has received this prestigious honor from the HBA. In addition, Kathy Delaney, Global Chief Creative Officer of Publicis Health, was named an HBA Luminary, and Marilyn Marsh, National Sales Director at Publicis Health Solutions, was recognized as an HBA Rising Star.

On June 7, 2018, five women leaders from Publicis Health agencies were honored for their achievements at the MM&M Hall of Femme. Kathy Delaney, Global Chief Creative Officer of Publicis Health and Nadine Leonard, Co-Managing Director of Heartbeat, were inducted into the 2018 class of MM&M’s Hall of Femme, which recognized 15 senior women leaders in the healthcare industry. Additionally, three rising stars from Publicis Health agencies were named among MM&M’s 2018 Women to Watch, including Celby Richoux, Director of Social Strategy and Planning at Digitas Health; Keri Hettel, SVP, Analytics at Razorfish Health; and Allegra Mira, Group Director, Analytics and Data Strategy at Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness.

We’re proud to say WMNLDRSRCK and we’re pleased that we have so many exemplary women leaders at Publicis Health.

Focusing on Balance, Inclusivity, and Community at Publicis.Sapient

Our Women’s Leadership Network (WLN) organized a handful of high-profile events across North America this quarter. April 26th was Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, a day that carries special weight for us, as it enables us to show our support for the mothers, fathers, and caregivers who give their whole selves to all they do both in and out of the office. Thanks to the grassroots efforts of WLN, we were able to organize activities across a handful of offices to give 200+ children a taste of our technological capabilities, our collaborative culture, and the way we fuse both to help our clients thrive in the modern world. More importantly, we made sure the children had a fantastic time meeting our people and learning why we love coming to work here.

WLN also partnered with VivaWomen! to cohost our first collaborative in-person event in NYC: a compelling discussion with author Fran Hauser about her new book, The Myth of the Nice Girl. The book touches on familiar themes like helping women find balance, authenticity, and success in their careers. Fran looks at these from a refreshing new angle: achieving all of this by being nice. During an invigorating Q&A session, Fran discussed how she supercharged her career by reclaiming her kindness, and how all women can do the same by redefining what it means to be a strong leader.

We had approximately 130 attendees, including some of our most senior leaders, all of whom were eager to hear from Fran how she balances career success with being a genuinely kind person. One of the biggest takeaways from the night was that you don’t have to sacrifice your values or hide your true personality in the name of achieving success. Nice can actually be a professional superpower.

Each year, we look forward to celebrating our LGBTQ+ coworkers, friends, and allies all June long. This year, we partnered with our Brand Experience Studio and PRIDE group to create a toolkit of posters, PowerPoint templates, and email banners to create a cohesive look and feel to tie together the activities happening across our offices. As usual, our PRIDE Ambassadors coordinated highly impactful activities in their local offices. Arlington hosted a workshop with representatives from the Transgender Education Association of Greater Washington around building a welcoming and ally-centered community in and outside of the office. Toronto and Detroit sponsored Pride-themed Fun Bus takeovers, rainbow shirt photo ops, and donations to the Affirmation Center Youth Leadership Program. Our Detroit Ambassadors also represented P.S in the Motor City Pride Parade, which they do every year.

POW (Power of Women) and Zenith Give Back

On June 8, 2018, Zenith’s COTY and POW (Power of Women) teams held their second product sale on behalf of the organization: WIN (Women in Need). Together, Zenith’s Power of Women organization and the Coty COVERGIRL team worked to find a charity that would represent and empower women in New York City. As cosmetic priorities are ever changing, the Zenith COTY team had a plethora of products that they wanted to give back to the female community instead of being put to waste. Products were sold for $1 each, and we are proud to say that we have raised $5,864.94 on behalf of WIN.

For over 33 years, WIN has given a second opportunity to women who are in perilous and critical situations. In just one year, WIN has provided services to over 10,000 homeless people, including 6,000 children. Besides housing, WIN provides child care and education, access to medical and mental health care, as well as employment training, and more.Sarah Kim

Publicis Groupe Attends the Mom 2.0 ConferenceFor the first time, we sent a small delegation to the Mom 2.0 Summit in Pasadena, California. Mom 2.0 is the premier professional conference and gathering of influencers who create content online in parenting, entertainment, business, marketing, technology, social change, design, and many other fields. This is a powerful gathering for women leaders in media and business to talk about what’s next for women online and in the marketplace.

The conference agenda is packed with educational programs, networking gatherings, inspiring keynote speakers, and breakout leaders, as well as strategic communication and influencer discussion.

Here are some takeaways from this year’s attendees:

“It was an overall great experience, full of support and much more diverse than I originally expected. Would love to help promote and support the 2019 summit!”

Égalité New York Raises $15,000 for Charity at its annual Drag Pageant eventÉgalité New York hosted its third annual employee charity drag pageant on June 20. The event included six employees who sashayed and slayed the night away. The event raised the most money since its inception, doubling the amounts raised from the first two pageants combined. With the support of generous sponsors, this sold out show involving 400 attendees allowed Égalité New York to make a $15,000 donation to CenterLink in memoriam of Kyle Virgilio, an Égalitarian who tragically passed away in May and participated in the first pageant back in 2016. Alicia Case, Global Égalité Co-Chair took the crown as the drag king, The King of Clubs. It was a fierce fight to the throne as Miguel Meija (Harbor Pictures) battled The KOC as Octivia Lee Spencer in a lip sync for your life for the ages. Other contestants included Max Leader (Publicis Health Media) as Miss Shan Dee Lier; Christian Ewing (Saatchi & Saatchi) as Annika De Voyage; Phillip Lewis, (Digitas) as Felicia Lamar; and Kyle Schmitt (Zenith) as Kyle on Gin.

Publicis Groupe Sends Delegation to Hispanicize Career Fair In MiamiNow in its ninth year, Hispanicize is the largest annual event for Latino trendsetters and newsmakers in digital content creation, journalism, marketing, entertainment, and tech. This April, colleagues from across Publicis Groupe joined over 3,000 of the nation’s most influential Latino professionals.

This was our third year sending a Publicis Groupe delegation, marking our deepest engagement to-date. Eleven representatives from eight agencies attended conference workshops, which included the CMO Summit for Marketing professionals. We were honored to participate in one of the panels titled, “The Moral Imperative: How Brands Are Forcing Agencies to Take Diversity Seriously” alongside client partner Amber Seikaly (VP, Corporate Communications) from USAA.

Regarding the workshops, one of our colleagues summed up the experience by saying: “Participating in the Hispanicize sessions has helped me keep relevant and up to date with all the trends in the Hispanic Market. Everything I learned could be implemented to future strategic and creative projects for the benefit of my clients.”

And finally, we had recruiters on hand to participate in the first-ever Hispanicize Career Fair.

We will continue to explore opportunities to reach the Latino community. Do you know of venues we should consider for engagement with underrepresented groups? Let us know!

A Conversation about Equity

In early May, I attended Standing Together, A Conversation about Equity, an event hosted by the Heartland Alliance. The panel featured five women leaders, including Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx; Andrea Zopp, President & CEO of World Business Chicago; and Mrlinalini Chakraborty, Head of Field Operations and Strategy for the National Women’s March. Each panelist spoke about their own career path and journey to activism. All of their personal narratives emphasized the difference between equity and equality, focusing on the fact that not everyone comes from equivalent circumstances or needs the same kind of help to achieve their full potential. Aiming for equity—giving each individual the resources and support they specifically require to succeed—ultimately promotes greater fairness by leveling the playing field for all. Kim Foxx addressed this point by explaining her experience growing up in Cabrini Green in a single-parent household. According to Foxx, she “would have needed seven boxes to see over the fence,” building off of the imagery shown in the picture below. She also commented that she frequently

receives reactions of awe and disbelief from others in regard to her education and career accomplishments. This reveals a common perception: that it is almost inconceivable for someone born into poverty to reach a high level of success due to systemic barriers and adversity. Unfortunately, there is some truth to this belief. However, the prevalence of this kind of reaction also demonstrates the overall collective acceptance of the fact that not everyone has a fair chance to succeed. It is unacceptable to accept inequality as a norm in our society. We need to strive for equity by giving more “boxes” to those who need it, while also lowering the “fence.”

Andrea Zopp, President & CEO of World Business Chicago, discussed the rise of the #MeToo movement and how it signifies the huge amount of progress made in her lifetime. She reminded everyone in the room about how far we have come: there are still people among us who lived through the years when people of color were considered unequal by law. While the #MeToo movement has caused discomfort for some, Zopp believes this is also a marker of progress. She made observations about the current discussions and questions about workplace environments, such as “What are appropriate ways to interact with a woman in the workplace?” Most of the time, these answers seem obvious, but Zopp acknowledged something I hadn’t yet considered: “Many don’t know the answers to these questions, because having someone different from them in their work environment is completely new to them. We have to understand that when we have these conversations.”

I am grateful I had the opportunity to hear the perspectives of these five incredible women and to learn from their experiences, wisdom, and insights. The fact that topics related to creating equity are regularly debated in mainstream media and that organizations (both nonprofit and for-profit) are openly acknowledging the same issues and working to address them is a huge sign of progress, though we still have a very long way to go. I left the event feeling inspired and motivated, with practical ways to think about the challenges women and minorities face both inside and outside of the workplace.

Unconscious Bias — Boston, September 12We are exposed to as many as 11 million pieces of information at any one time, but our brains can functionally deal with only about 40. Unconscious bias helps us all filter what gets our attention. Delivered by Cook Ross, the Unconscious Bias seminar provides a clearer understanding of unconscious behavior and its influence on individuals and organizational culture. This program supports participants in helping to recognize patterns, or “norms” of behavior that can exert enormous influence over organizational and business decisions, choices, and behaviors related to recruiting, hiring decisions, job assignments, performance reviews, and advancement choices.REGISTER HERE: https://ub_9-12_bos.eventbrite.com

Pride month has always marked a time that our BRG and its people shine. But this past June, the rainbow flag was taken to new heights and the roar of our colorful lion could be heard even louder and in more places.

Can we get a “yeehaw” for launching a chapter in Dallas? Sarah Smith and Dillon Stroope have successfully set up our newest U.S. chapter out of Saatchi & Saatchi and Team One’s offices. Thank you for your dedication and spirit to ensure another Publicis Groupe market gets the benefits of Égalité and workplace equality programming.

And let’s say olá to our friends in São Paolo who have launched Égalité Brasil bringing us to our four-continent reach! The chapter is headed up by Marcelo Azevedo, Paula Ganem, and Fernanda Reis who launched this group in celebratory form at the São Paolo Pride Parade. We can already sense the energy and promise bursting from this chapter and can’t wait to watch it flourish. Obrigado!

Honoring champions of workplace equality is vital in ensuring that the work doesn’t go unnoticed. For Pride, we started a series called “People Who Roar with Pride,” as a way for employees to nominate their peers who are creating workplaces that are diverse, inclusive, and equitable for everyone. They help people whose voices may not otherwise be heard open up, make room at the table for new and fresh perspectives, and curate experiences that make everyone feel a sense of belonging. Seeing our Facebook page fill up with faces of people doing extraordinary work for the LGBTQ community solidified that Égalité is building a community of which we should all be proud.

A few other notable programs we can’t forget to mention:

• Égalité NY hosted its third annual employee charity drag pageant on June 20. The event included six employees that sashayed and slayed the night away. The event raised the most since its inception, giving $15,000 to CenterLink.

• Égalité Yardley organized a crew of volunteers for the GLAAD media awards in NYC this past May.

• Égalité Seattle hosted its annual pride event supporting the Lifelong, a community health organization dedicated to helping people living with or who are at risk of HIV and/or other chronic conditions.

• Égalité London marched in the London PRIDE Parade for the first time.• Égalité LA members got the chance to march in the Pride Parade with our

Citi client• Égalité Chicago hosted the now annual Pride flag raisings at 35 West

Wacker and Merchandise Mart to kick off Pride Month. Rainbow swag and cake were passed out, and donations were collected raising more than $1,000 for Rainbow Railroad.

• Égalité Philly partnered with local LGBTQ health center, the Mazzone Center on the History of Philly Pride.

• Égalité DC participated in the Be the Match Bone Marrow Drive. It was an important effort because blood donation isn’t freely an option within the LGBTQ community and bone marrow donation is a great way to engage the community.

It’s been a busy quarter for GENNEXT. We have officially launched in Philadelphia! In early Q2, we hosted a meet & greet in each Philadelphia office to introduce the Business Resource Group and its offerings. We met with dozens of young professionals who expressed interest in not only joining the group as members, but also as board leaders. We are excited to announce that Amanda Patti (Publicis Health Media) and Sarah Robinson (Publicis Health Media) will be our Metro Leaders for the Philadelphia region! We can’t wait to see what amazing work they do this year along with their board. Philly folks, stay tuned for an official kickoff happy hour this summer. In addition to the launch, we also hosted our NYC kickoff of the NEXT UP Speaker Series, “Anxiety, Advancement & Avocado Toast,” with over sixty young professionals in attendance. The event focused on ways to balance both mental & physical health with the demands of a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment. Speakers included Jessica Feldman, a NAMI affiliated mental health professional; Duncan Ransom, the CEO & founder of The Endless Collective; and Lottie, a food & fitness blogger. Stay tuned for the second installment of our second NEXT UP Speaker Series this fall! We are excited to see the traction GENNEXT has been gaining in both New York and Philadelphia, and it is inspiring to see so many passionate and enthusiastic young professionals join the group as either board members or participants. As we continue to work together in planning 2018’s programming events, we’d like to thank the network for its continued support and encouragement! If you’d like to join the group, please sign up via the new BRG portal.

MOCA ATL is continuing its push for engagement throughout the market by continuing to spearhead fun, inclusive events, while supporting other BRGs as allies. On July 13, in conjunction with ONYX from Digitas and VivaWomen of Color, we will host a cultural potluck in our Northyards campus to celebrate the many cultures that make up our campus and its agencies. This will be a great opportunity for employees to meet and greet each other and to explore intriguing global cuisine. We will continue our work to program events geared toward diversity, education, and inclusion, to the benefit of all of our colleagues. Stay tuned!

MOCA Los Angeles is proud to report that our partnership with VivaWomen of Color went very well with great attendance and a great night of conversation featuring Damien Hooper-Campbell, Chief Diversity Officer at eBay We are looking forward to more programming and bolstering MOCA through informational events during the next few months.

On Wed., May 16, MOCA NY hosted a panel of medical experts for a conversation about the state of bias in healthcare. Inspired by recent events, “Save Yourself: Managing Bias in Healthcare” tackled the history of bias in the medical industry and provided

a framework for having clear conversations with medical providers. We also partnered with Be The Match, the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world, to better understand how people of color are underrepresented on the bone marrow donor list.

On Wed., June 6, MOCA NY teamed up with Spotify to host “Good Beats, Good People,” a networking happy hour.

The newly formed MOCA Yardley chapter is taking its first steps as it begins to leave its paw prints in the Publicis history books. Our team has been together for almost a month and has formulated our mission statement and will begin executing our vision in a few weeks. Although we are still in our planning stages, we anticipate that we will begin our journey with an introduction of our team and our purpose at the July Town Hall Meeting in Yardley and then unleash our ROAR with our first event projected for August! We anticipate

that we will generate much interest and success with some exciting career-building and community-based initiatives as we unveil our monthly meeting schedule for the remainder of the year!

Publicis Connects has had a very strong first half of the year, and we’ve already surpassed the total number of mobility placements that were made across Publicis Groupe in 2017. We have been gaining more and more traction with Publicis Groupe employees who are hearing more about and asking questions about the mobility process. We are in the process of working with our sister BRGs to develop a workshop to educate even more of the general population about how Publicis Connects can lend support. We are hopeful that participation and mobility will increase with the recent agency moves across the Groupe. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in learning more.

Curtis WagnerStarcom, ChicagoPubVets Founder and National Lead

I was introduced to Project Relo in December of 2017 and had no idea the impact this organization would have on me both personally and professionally. Project Relo is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating business executives on the benefits of hiring military veterans. This education takes place through immersive leadership courses and experiences during which veterans and corporate executives conduct simulated military exercises on U.S. Army bases. PubVets participated in the May 2018 mission, and I can confidently say it was a one-of-a-kind experience.

The drive into Camp Grayling was unpredictable, not unlike the rest of the mission. I found myself heading down roads that turned into dirt, then got narrow, and then got deeper in dirt. I’d come too far and wasn’t able to turn back, while at the same time wondering if that was somehow on purpose.

I arrived at the first rally point and was greeted by other participants, military members, and Project Relo staff. We packed our things and set off for the U.S Army National Guard base that night, which would be the last time we all slept inside for the next three days.

We woke up the next morning to six all-terrain vehicles outside the barracks waiting to take us through the day’s activities. We started out with a simulated firing exercise to demonstrate the importance of communication within any organization and to demonstrate the effectiveness in the way veterans have been trained to communicate. Through proper communication, we were able to reduce our cost of rounds discharged during the exercise from sixty thousand dollars to just six thousand after being given some simple instructions.

Day three of the mission seemed to “flip the script” a little bit, in that now it was the executives doing some of the coaching. Transitioning military members with us on the trip were given the opportunity to deliver an “elevator pitch” about why a company should hire them. Executives in attendance were able to give feedback on these elevator pitches, and being a veteran myself, I found that invaluable.

Overall, it was a mission on leadership, veteran recruiting practices, and teamwork. I would certainly recommend attending a mission with Project Relo if you are a team leader, recruiter, or simply interested in learning more about the benefits of hiring veterans.

This Mother’s Day, local VivaMama chapters honored the amazing group of mamas and mamas-to-be among us. In New York, several offices hosted mimosa breakfasts and hosted a fireside chat. One office had their event co-sponsored by a client who is a mama! And everybody got a flower to take home. At Conill, among mimosas and pastries, mamas got to watch clips of their children telling us their mama’s superpower and why she is amazing.

Saatchi LA hosted a Mother’s Day lunch with champagne, slideshow, and printed/mounted photos as a gift to each mama. A few little cubs showed up and even a new mama still on maternity leave came in to reconnect.

At TeamOne in LA, they took the opportunity to kick-start VivaMama with a breakfast and lunch, connecting mamas in the office and strategizing their local goals.

We are expanding the conversation! SSLA hosted a parents panel around Father’s Day to create transparent conversation about the challenges of parenthood in the (advertising) workplace with both mamas and papas. We have mothers and fathers on the panel with the goal to help our teams and managers understand the reality of their colleagues who are parents.

Also in the works: • On- and off-ramping for mamas on maternity leave as they transition out and come back to work. • Back-to-school drive for local children and parents who may need additional resources to help their

children get the school year started successfully.

The health event featured Dr. Michelle Reed, Board Certified Family Medicine Physician and author of Mentally Fit-Physically Strong: The Fit Doc’s Guide to Real Life; Dr. Derek Robinson, VP Enterprise Quality and Accreditation at Health Care Service Corporation; Sherilyn Francis, Health Communications Researcher, Nucleus Health Communication; and Dr. Adrienne Phillips, Hematology and Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine.

VivaTech is growing! We’re so excited to announce that in addition to chapters in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, we now have a chapter in Atlanta! Amy Kuznicki (VP, Product Management—Publicis Media) and Crystal Wallace (VP, MeasOps—Zenith) have volunteered to be the new chapter’s Metro Leads. We’ve invited Amy and Crystal to talk about their kickoff meeting, which took place on May 17. We’re looking forward to seeing the expansion of the VivaTech and hearing more about the great programming coming out of Atlanta. Take it away, Amy and Crystal!

VivaTech Atlanta is here! Together with our Executive Sponsor Tracy Young-Lincoln, we kicked off the Atlanta chapter of VivaTech at the Moxie offices in Atlanta on May 17. And what better way to introduce a group dedicated to advancing women in technology than to include tools like QR codes and online surveys as part of the agenda? Attendees were handed QR codes as they entered the meeting, leading them to the online sign up to join the VivaTech Atlanta distribution list. Attendees enjoyed good company and conversation before the meeting kicked off with an introduction to VivaTech and its mission. Speaker Tracy Young-Lincoln, EVP of Data, Technology and Intelligence at Moxie, inspired us all with her perspectives on women in technology and how she sees herself and all women in the space.

Then it was time for a group brainstorming activity—this time using the second provided QR code, which assigned each attendee to one of three groups. Groups were assigned to consider a particular aspect of the mission of VivaTech Atlanta in 2018 and beyond. Using whiteboards as well as the QR-driven online destination, groups began documenting their ideas. Group 1 took on the topic of outreach, brainstorming ways that the BRG can reach out to the community, including defining organizations and partners we could work with. Ideas ranged from working with community groups, like Girls Who Code and local colleges, to partnering with other BRGs. Group 2 took on the topic of empowerment, brainstorming ways VivaTech can develop women in technology. This team focused on ideas to educate and grow knowledge with a favorite being the “I Need + I’m an Expert” knowledge transfer idea where women can share their strengths and in turn build new ones. Finally, Group 3 took on the topic of education, generating ideas for events to increase members’ technical understanding and application of technology. Ideas included panels, speakers, and even research projects. All in all, across all three groups, 20+ ideas for VivaTech Atlanta were captured.

The meeting ended with presentations of all the great ideas, and some closing socializing and networking. The meeting was a great success and VivaTech Atlanta is excited to be part of the larger VivaTech and VivaWomen! groups. Look for us over the coming months as we bring our ideas to life!
