Why should a student take the AP Exam? Most of the nation’s colleges and universities, plus colleges and universities in 24 other countries, grant students admission, credit, and/or placement for qualifying AP Exam grades.

At the college level, students can use qualifying AP Exam grades to:

Graduate in three or three-and-a-half years

Enter upper-level courses

Fulfill a foreign language requirement

Each exam will receive a score of 1 – 5.

Typically, colleges and universities will award credit or placement for scores of 3, 4, or 5.

While the common perception is that a score of 3, 4, or 5 constitutes passing in AP, a score of 2 equates to passing at the collegiate level.
