Thursday, March 13, 2014 - Via Vision Entertainment (VVE) is pleased to announce the Australian

release of Takedown: The DNA of GSP, a feature-length documentary on Georges St-Pierre, UFC

World Welterweight Champion. A theatrical screening through selected Hoyts cinemas commences

April 3 before the Blu-ray and DVD release April 16.

The phenomenon that is the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) coheres to the rapid ascent of

one of its greatest champions Québécois Georges St-Pierre. From humble origins in St. Isidore, to

fully fledged mixed martial arts superstar, Takedown: The DNA of GSP accesses St. Pierre over a

tumultuous and unprecedented seven year period of success, and the punishing obstacle of

overcoming a crippling ACL tear in his knee at the height of his powers.

Despite the brutal demands, unrelenting training and his vicious opponents, St-Pierre is foremost a

gentleman inside and outside of the ring, one of the reasons for his enduring international

popularity. A bullied kid at school to his meteoric ascension as welterweight champion, from his

crusade to validate MMA as pro-athletes to his disastrous first title defence, his struggles with

obsessive compulsive disorder and rivalry with the outspoken Nick Diaz, and the subsequent

headline grabbing war of words, Takedown covers the lot.

With over 11 million social media followers, St-Pierre holds black belts in both Kyokushin karate and

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has beaten a who’s-who of the best fighters of the past decade. Featuring St-

Pierre’s iconic title bouts, rare footage of his home life, tight-knit family, training techniques and the

influential men in his corner such as Australian Jiu Jitsu guru John Danaher and French-Canadian

MMA pioneer Kristoff Midoux, Takedown is an intimate portrait of a living legend whose discipline

and remarkable comeback remains an inspiration to many while his battle with Diaz is now the stuff

of modern legend.
