Take The Next Step

In 2003, the city of Regina hosted the 91st Grey Cup. The Edmonton Eskimos with Ricky Ray at the helm defeated Anthony Cavillo and the Montreal Alouettes, 34 - 22 capturing the coveted Cup. The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost to the Eskimos 30-23 in the Western Final, leaving the Green and White’s number one fanatic … Chris Lees, mumbling and shaking his head in disgust. In 2013, Regina will host the 101st Grey Cup and it is quite ironic that ten years later Ricky Ray, Anthony Cavillo and Chris Lees are still involved with the game and all are on some sort of injury disabled list.

In 2003, Chris and Tina took the next step and established “Take the Next Step” production sale with a few guest breeders and they too, celebrate its tenth anniversary. Thus, 2013 is a special year as the winning Riders host the Grey Cup and Saskatchewan enjoys a bumper harvest and North American cattle breeders look forward to a great cattle market. Over these ten years we have heard a lot of predictions from the block; therefore, I cannot wait to hear what the “Saskatchewan Swami” has to say. Since traditional gifts for 10th anniversaries are aluminum/tin and modern gifts are diamond jewelry, you can be assured to find quite a few precious gems in this offering.

Although each operation has its own diversity, they all have one thing in common ... all the offering run on shortgrass pastures where production and fertility determine their tenure in the herd. Chris and Tina, Doug and Wanda offer a cross-section of their replacement bred heifers with stock to fit any program and every budget. In addition, each year they bring a top cut of fancy heifer calves suitable for juniors of any age.

For this 10th anniversary sale, the Nicholas family has a unique offering from McCoy ... every female out of the herd born in the year “W.” Opportunities such as this come seldom and those who take advantage will reap rewards in this rising cattle market. The cows are hard working, functional and just coming into the prime of their productive years. Great udders, great numbers ... just sound, money making cattle.

Plan to be with us late Saturday for the 10th anniversary of “Take the Next Step” at Right Cross Ranch, Kisbey, Sk., for a great group of Polled Hereford seed stock from Saskatchewan’s leading breeders. Sale time is 5:00 P.M. and it is a 30 minutes drive from Karl and Karen’s. Food, refreshments and festivities await you.

If we, at T Bar C, may be of assistance, prior to or sale day … feel free to give Chris, Shane or myself a call. Remember that accommodations in the area are at a premium.

It was our lucky day when Kevin offered us the use of Wyatt and we have not been disappointed, as we had an awesome set of heifer calves this spring. We are offering the choice

of two of these exceptional daughters. One sire – three varying cow families – we’re confident enough in them that it doesn’t matter to us which one we take home. One goes back to Vaquero, one to

Keynote, and one to P606. All are show worthy and all certainly will be super brood cows.

We are pleased to offer our entire group of 2009 born females in the C&T sale this year. We are very appreciative of Chris and Tina for incorporating the McCoy program into their sale and thought this might be a special offering that would

help celebrate their 10th anniversary. These females would not normally be available but due to multiple business and personal conflicts, we decided early in 2013 that we needed to sell a percentage of our cow herd to get in-line with labor

and land resources available to us. Take advantage of this opportunity. Chad

BW: 87 lbs. ADJ 205 DW: 622 lbs.EPDS BW 4.7 WW 50.8 YW 82.8 MM 15.6 TM 41.0Very young female from a first calf heifer. Consistent productive cow family. We may not sell many more from her mother, as I really like her. Buy with confidence. She is safe in calf to 44U who absolutely impressed us in his first calf crop here this year; so much so that we brought up another 100 straws of semen. AI bred on May 18, 2013 to NJW 98S Durango 44U. Exposed from June 20 to August 4, 2013 to PCL Zircon 719T 25Z. Preg checks to the May 18 service, due late February.

She is as big as her older sisters now and will likely grow into a big cow. Lots of longevity on both sides of her pedigree which means profit, especially to the commercial industry. Her grand dam 13N is still producing well and is one of our top cows. Exposed from June 20 to August 4, 2013 to PCL Zircon 719T 25Z. Preg checks to an approximate late March calving date.
