Hello friends and neighbors. Welcome to Let’s Talk Sports. Right here in the Trader and on line. Pat, owner of Coverups Custom Quilting does all kind of custom sewing. While I am on that sub-ject, the entire area pulling for Vanderbilt. The NBA had their draft. New Orleans took Zion of Duke as the number one pick, an Ohio Valley Conferee player from Murry State as number two pick. Three University of Kentucky and three from the Vols are drafted. Vandy freshman who had played only five games for the Black and Gold goes as a top pick. Many more will have invitations to try out. Major League Baseball next. Coach Rusty Melvin also had his home de-stroyed by one of the many storms that have hit us. Just missed Rusty and little pals. Two died in Allen county. More expected this week that continue to push tourney games around. Even the super athletic Eddie Sherlin had golf matches changed. The Cheese, voice of Trousdale County, watched the weather. Robert Dorris and wife Brenda went to cheer on Vandy. Robert works Vandy home games. The Tennessee Vols now with coaches in place in all sports now seventy three days until it is football time in Tennessee. BTW, the orange basketball staff had three drafted in round ball, but now signed three. Kentucky did well in the draft and loaded for next season. Do not want to leave out that Lipscomb had a great player drafted. Pro scouts are all around looking at local talent from amateurs. Portland has Corey Brewer still listed as a Boston Celtic. Proud of all the soccer honors passed out to our young high school ladies. Sports fans lost Jackie Wright recently...big supporter of the Green Wave and he loved to golf. Grandson asked me about adult slow pitch softball. The Senior ladies from our area have won multi-national titles in the past, and several men’s teams played on a high level. Wilson County sponsor, Leacock, was huge. Rochelle and Fanns, two of Sumner Counties’ great teams. The Conway Twitty tourney in Hendersonville one of the nations best in high level amateur bas-ketball. Johnny Cash was a fine team. Franklin, Kentucky Wildcat fan and local business man, Bob Prichett high on Hot Rods pro team of Bowling Green and says the weekend teams much like the old Kitty League, for years almost every community had a weekend team.
