HELP WITH CHILDCAREIf you’re under 20 and have a child you may be eligible for help with Ofsted-registered childcare and some other college-related costs through the Care to Learn scheme. Further details can be found at www.direct.gov.uk/caretolearn or from the National Careers Service.

If you’re 20 or over and have a household income of less than £32,000 childcare support may be available from the college’s Support to Study Fund. ADDITIONAL FUNDINGIf your household income is under £20,000, the college’s Support to Study Bursary may be able to help with the costs of travel, books, equipment or any other cost which may make it difficult for you to attend college. All fee remission is subject to availability of Government funding at the start date of a course. All fees quoted are correct at the time of print and maybe subject to change. Learners aged 16-18 on 31/8/18 and who are eligible to enrol on a course should contact Admissions to ask about fees.

There’s lots of help available...

Fees AND FUNDING

The Advanced Learner Loan is available to students aged 19 and over to fund courses from Level 3 to 6 like Access to Higher Education courses and Diplomas.

The loan will cover your fees so you won’t have to pay anything up front. You also won’t start paying it back until after the course is completed and you are earning £25,000+ a year. Plus, if you then go on to complete a full degree, your loan for the Access course will be written off.

“I left the military police to train as a Veterinary Nurse. Once qualified I plan to re-join the army working with military animals.

After the Access course, I went on to study an FdSc in Veterinary Nursing Science. Knowing I could stay on at Sparsholt and be taught by subject matter experts with state-of-the-art equipment greatly appealed to me.

I really enjoyed getting back into learning after a long time out of education. The support was excellent! I also enjoyed getting hands-on with the animals. I learned how to study effectively and felt a lot more prepared for my Foundation Degree.

I made some great friends and as a mature student it’s nice that there’s a good mix of ages on the Veterinary Nursing course too.”

Many of our part-time courses lead to qualifications recognised by industry bodies such as City & Guilds. Employers may need you to have these certificates to recognise your competence to do the job.

LEVEL 2Equivalent to GCSE level study/completion of an Apprenticeship programme.

LEVEL 3*Equivalent to A Level study/an Advanced Apprenticeship. Provides entry to university. Access to Higher Education (land-based studies) is a Level 3 course.

LEVEL 4*First level of a degree and the level for many professionally accredited programmes.

LEVEL 5 – FdSc (FOUNDATION DEGREE)A stand-alone qualification delivered in two years full-time or three years part-time which can be topped up to a full BSc (Hons) degree with an additional year of study. All courses include work experience. These programmes are eligible for Advanced Learner Loans, so you don’t have to pay anything upfront.

LEVEL 6 – BSc (Hons) DEGREEDesigned to develop higher-level skills to be successful in a professional career such as management, research and academia.

LEVEL 6 – BSc (Hons) DEGREE (ONE YEAR TOP-UP)One-year programmes which allow you to top up your FdSc or HND to a full degree. Most can be studied full-time, with some also offered as a part-time or distance learning option.

LEVEL 7 – MASTER’S DEGREEPostgraduate Level 7 qualifications which follow on from a full degree. Programmes last one year full-time or two years part-time and include taught and research components (thesis).
