The Laundry

The laundry facility at Taj Krishna is considered to be one of the best in the industry. The

property at Banjara Road, not only manages the laundry at Taj Krishrna itself but also of three

other Taj properties, namely, Taj Banjara, Taj Deccan and Taj Vivanta.

The facility is vast and the operations are diversified.

There are 50 employees at Taj Krishna, dedicatedly working in the laundry department on shift

basis. The laundry operates twenty four hours and there are seven to eight shifts per day

depending on the requirement. The shifts are overlapping implying that not all employees

working in a shift leave at the same time. For instance, if the first shift works from 0800 to 1600

hrs, the second shift works from 1100 to 1900 hrs ensuring smooth functionality in the

department and easy transition between shifts.

On an average, per day twenty to thirty thousand pieces of clothing are received. The load is

generally more in the morning and usually goes on reducing as the day comes to an end.

Accordingly, forty percent staff is employed in the morning shifts, coming down to ten to twenty

percent working in the afternoon shift and even less in the night shifts.



Vehicles are appointed which collect the soiled laundry from the other three Taj properties and

bring them to Taj Krishna where there is a separate passage for dropping the clothes. Different

bags are used to differentiate the laundry from different hotels. For instance, there is a pink

coloured bag for Vivanta, purple for Deccan and blue for Banjara and so on. The hangers too

have a colour code for example, red for Taj Banjara and blue for Taj Deccan.

For Taj Krishna, the clothes are tagged individually with the room number to be delivered

efficiently to the respective rooms. The billing is done simultaneously.

Different tags are used for employees and customers.

The laundry services include collection of linen, laundering, sealing, packing and dispatching of

clean linen. It also involves store keeping, daily issuing and maintaining an inventory .The staff

Uniform Laundering and Handling service involves purchase, stitching, distribution, launderingand maintenance of winter and summer staff uniforms. The uniforms are collected as per the

laundry issued to the staff. They are then washed, starched and ironed. Clean uniforms are

received and put on hangers to be issued. A laundry book is maintained for inventory of the staff

uniforms. The laundry also provides caps, sleeves and mouthpieces.

The laundry at Taj Krishna boasts of state of the art equipment. An advanced Biometric Solution

is used for keeping the record of working hours.



The main laundry equipment includes

5 washers with 55kg capacity [PS55] each and 3 with 7 kg capacity [P7] each

4 dryers with 35kg capacity [IP50-320] each.

8 washer extractors,

4 tumble dryers and flatwork irons.

The finishing equipments include :

1NOVA S utility table and 1 ironing tables

2 M781 form finishers for outer wear garments such as suits, etc

1 CT750U air operated press

1 temporary marking machine- Y151SEAL thermo-patch

3 steam press and roll on press both fully automatic and semi automatic

2 Robo press made in Germany and China

Taj Krishna recently Rs.8 lakhs for installing automatic chemical input into the washer and

retractor directly.

A rose is sent along with each laundry which is returned to the respective rooms.
