"Narrated 'Ali: Whenever I tell you a narration from Allah's Apostle,by Allah, I would rather fall down from the sky than ascribe a falsestatement to him, but if I tell you something between me and you(not a Hadith) then it was indeed a trick (i.e., I may say things justto cheat my enemy). No doubt I heard Allah's Apostle saying,

""During the last days there will appear some young foolish peoplewho will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond theirthroats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave)their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, where-ever youfind them, kill them, for who-ever kills them shall have reward onthe Day of Resurrection."" (Book #84, Hadith #64)- Sahih Bukhari""Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Yasar: That they visited Abu Sa'idAl-Khudri and asked him about Al-Harauriyya, a special unorthodoxreligious sect, ""Did you hear the Prophet saying anything aboutthem?"" Abu Sa'id said, ""I do not know what Al-Harauriyya is, but I

heard the Prophet saying, ""There will appear in this nation---- hedid not say: From this nation ---- a group of people so piousapparently that you will consider your prayers inferior to theirprayers, but they will recite the Quran, the teachings of which willnot go beyond their throats and will go out of their religion as anarrow darts through the game, whereupon the archer may look athis arrow, its Nasl at its Risaf and its Fuqa to see whether it isblood-stained or not (i.e. they will have not even a trace of Islam inthem)."" (Book #84, Hadith #65)- Sahih Bukhari

    "

Narrated Yusair bin 'Amr: I asked Sahl bin Hunaif, "Did you hear theProphet saying anything about Al-Khawarij?" He said, "I heard himsaying while pointing his hand towards Iraq. "There will appear in it(i.e, Iraq) some people who will recite the Quran but it will not gobeyond their throats, and they will go out from (leave) Islam as anarrow darts through the game's body.' " (Book #84, Hadith #68)-Sahih Bukhari

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: When 'Ali was in Yemen, he sent somegold in its ore to the Prophet. The Prophet distributed it among Al-

Aqra' bin Habis Al-Hanzali who belonged to Bani Mujashi, 'Uyainabin Badr Al-Fazari, 'Alqama bin 'Ulatha Al-'Amiri, who belonged tothe Bani Kilab tribe and Zaid AI-Khail At-Ta'i who belonged to BaniNabhan. So the Quraish and the Ansar became angry and said, "Hegives to the chiefs of Najd and leaves us!" The Prophet said, "I justwanted to attract and unite their hearts (make them firm in Islam)."Then there came a man with sunken eyes, bulging forehead, thickbeard, fat raised cheeks, and clean-shaven head, and said, "O

Muhammad! Be afraid of Allah! " The Prophet said, "Who would obeyAllah if I disobeyed Him? (Allah). He trusts me over the people ofthe earth, but you do not trust me?" A man from the people (presentthen), who, I think, was Khalid bin Al-Walid, asked for permission tokill him, but the Prophet prevented him. When the man went away,

the Prophet said, "Out of the offspring of this man, there will bepeople who will recite the Quran but it will not go beyond theirthroats, and they will go out of Islam as an arrow goes out throughthe game, and they will kill the Muslims and leave the idolators.Should I live till they appear, I would kill them as the Killing of thenation of 'Ad." (Book #93, Hadith #527)- Sahih BukhariNarrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said, "I have been made victoriouswith As-Saba (i.e. an easterly wind) and the people of 'Ad weredestroyed by Ad-Dabur (i.e. a westerly wind)." Narrated Abu Said:Ali sent a piece of gold to the Prophet who distributed it among fourpersons: Al-Aqra' bin Habis Al-Hanzali from the tribe of Mujashi,

'Uyaina bin Badr Al-Fazari, Zaid At-Ta'i who belonged to (the tribeof) Bani Nahban, and 'Alqama bin Ulatha Al-'Amir who belonged to(the tribe of) Bani Kilab. So the Quraish and the Ansar becameangry and said, "He (i.e. the Prophet, ) gives the chief of Najd anddoes not give us." The Prophet said, "I give them) so as to attracttheir hearts (to Islam)." Then a man with sunken eyes, prominentchecks, a raised forehead, a thick beard and a shaven head, came(in front of the Prophet ) and said, "Be afraid of Allah, OMuhammad!" The Prophet ' said "Who would obey Allah if Idisobeyed Him? (Is it fair that) Allah has trusted all the people ofthe earth to me while, you do not trust me?" Somebody who, I think

was Khalid bin Al-Walid, requested the Prophet to let him chop thatman's head off, but he prevented him. When the man left, theProphet said, "Among the off-spring of this man will be some whowill recite the Qur'an but the Qur'an will not reach beyond theirthroats (i.e. they will recite like parrots and will not understand itnor act on it), and they will renegade from the religion as an arrowgoes through the game's body. They will kill the Muslims but will notdisturb the idolaters. If I should live up to their time' I will kill themas the people of 'Ad were killed (i.e. I will kill all of them)." (Book#55, Hadith #558)- Sahih Bukhari

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: The Prophet said, "There will emergefrom the East some people who will recite the Qur'an but it will notexceed their throats and who will go out of (renounce) the religion(Islam) as an arrow passes through the game, and they will nevercome back to it unless the arrow, comes back to the middle of thebow (by itself) (i.e., impossible). The people asked, "What will theirsigns be?" He said, "Their sign will be the habit of shaving (of their

    beards). (Fateh Al-Bari, Page 322, Vol. 17th) (Book #93, Hadith#651)- Sahih Bukhari

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: 'Ali bin Abi Talib sent a piece of goldnot yet taken out of its ore, in a tanned leather container to Allah's

Apostle . Allah's Apostle distributed that amongst four Persons:'Uyaina bin Badr, Aqra bin Habis, Zaid Al-Khail and the fourth waseither Alqama or Amir bin At Tufail. On that, one of his companionssaid, "We are more deserving of this (gold) than these (persons)."When that news reached the Prophet , he said, "Don't you trust methough I am the truth worthy man of the One in the Heavens, and Ireceive the news of Heaven (i.e. Divine Inspiration) both in themorning and in the evening?" There got up a man with sunken eyes, raised cheek bones, raised forehead, a thick beard, a shaven headand a waist sheet that was tucked up and he said, "O Allah'sApostle! Be afraid of Allah." The Prophet said, "Woe to you! Am I not

of all the people of the earth the most entitled to fear Allah?" Thenthat man went away. Khalid bin Al-Wahd said, "O Allah's Apostle!Shall I chop his neck off?" The Prophet said, "No, for he may offerprayers." Khalid said, "Numerous are those who offer prayers andsay by their tongues (i.e. mouths) what is not in their hearts."Allah's Apostle said, "I have not been ordered (by Allah) to searchthe hearts of the people or cut open their bellies." Then the Prophetlooked at him (i.e. that man) while the latter was going away andsaid, "From the offspring of this (man there will come out (people)who will recite the Qur'an continuously and elegantly but it will notexceed their throats. (They will neither understand it nor act upon

it). They would go out of the religion (i.e. Islam) as an arrow goesthrough a game's body." I think he also said, "If I should be presentat their time I would kill them as the nations a Thamud were killed."(Book #59, Hadith #638)- Sahih Bukhari

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: While we were with Allah's Apostlewho was distributing (i.e. some property), there came Dhu-l-Khuwaisira, a man from the tribe of Bani Tamim and said, "O Allah'sApostle! Do Justice." The Prophet said, "Woe to you! Who could dojustice if I did not? I would be a desperate loser if I did not do

justice." 'Umar said, "O Allah's Apostle! Allow me to chop his headoff." The Prophet said, "Leave him, for he has companions who prayand fast in such a way that you will consider your fasting negligiblein comparison to theirs. They recite Qur'an but it does not gobeyond their throats (i.e. they do not act on it) and they will desertIslam as an arrow goes through a victim's body, so that the hunter,on looking at the arrow's blade, would see nothing on it; he wouldlook at its Risaf and see nothing: he would look at its Na,di and see

nothing, and he would look at its Qudhadh ( 1 ) and see nothing(neither meat nor blood), for the arrow has been too fast even forthe blood and excretions to smear. The sign by which they will berecognized is that among them there will be a black man, one ofwhose arms will resemble a woman's breast or a lump of meat

moving loosely. Those people will appear when there will bedifferences amongst the people." I testify that I heard this narrationfrom Allah's Apostle and I testify that 'Ali bin Abi Talib fought withsuch people, and I was in his company. He ordered that the man(described by the Prophet ) should be looked for. The man wasbrought and I looked at him and noticed that he looked exactly asthe Prophet had described him. (Book #56, Hadith #807)- SahihBukhari

Narrated 'Ali: I relate the traditions of Allah's Apostle to you for I

would rather fall from the sky than attribute something to himfalsely. But when I tell you a thing which is between you and me,then no doubt, war is guile. I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "In thelast days of this world there will appear some young foolish peoplewho will use (in their claim) the best speech of all people (i.e. theQur'an) and they will abandon Islam as an arrow going through thegame. Their belief will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they willhave practically no belief), so wherever you meet them, kill them, for he who kills them shall get a reward on the Day of Resurrection."(Book #56, Hadith #808)- Sahih Bukhari

Hazrat Ali (RU) then narrated as follows. 'I heard Prophet (SAWS) assaying that as the Day of Qiyamah approaches there will appear agroup of youths with a low mental capacity and understanding, apparently they will talk good but their Imaan will not go beyondtheir throat and they will leave the true Deen like an arrow leavesthe bow. Wherever you find them, you should make Jihaad withthem. (Bukhari, p. 1024)

    SAHIH MUSLIM

    (1) Jabir b. Abdullah reported that a person came to the Messengerof Allah (may peace be upon him) at Jirana on his way back fromHunain, and there was in the clothes of Bilal some silver. TheMessenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) took a handful out ofthat and bestowed it upon the people. He (the person who had metthe Prophet at Ji'rana) said to him: Muhammad, do justice. He (theHoly Prophet) said: Woe be upon thee, who would do justice if I do

not do justice, and you would be very unfortunate and a loser if I donot do justice. Upon this Umar b. Khattab (Allah be pleased withhim) said: Permit me to kill this hypocrite. Upon this he (the HolyProphet) said: May there be protection of Allah! People would saythat I kill my companions. This man and his companions would recite

the Qur'an but it would not go beyond their throat, and they swervefrom it just as the arrow goes through the prey. (Book #005, Hadith#2316)- Sahih Muslim

    (2) Abu Said Khudri reported that 'Ali (Allah be pleased with him)sent some gold alloyed with dust to the Messenger of Allah (maypeace be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (may peace beupon him) distributed that among four men, al-Aqra b. Habis Hanzaliand Uyaina b. Badr al-Fazari and 'Alqama b. 'Ulatha al-'Amiri, thento one person of the tribe of Kilab and to Zaid al-Khair al-Ta'l, and

then to one person of the tribe of Nabhan. Upon this the people ofQuraish felt angry and said: He (the Holy Prophet) gave to the chiefsof Najd and ignored us. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (maypeace be upon him) said: I have done it with a view to con- cillatingthem. Then there came a person with thick beard, prominentcheeks, deep sunken eyes and protruding forehead and shavenhead. He said: Muhammad, fear Allah. Upon this the Messenger ofAllah (may peace be upon him) said: If I disobey Allah, who wouldthen obey Him? Have I not been (sent as the) most trustworthyamong the people of the-world? -but you do not repose trust in me.That person then went back. A person among the people then

sought permission (from the Holy Prophet) for his murder.According to some, it was Khalid b. Walid who sought thepermission. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (may peace be uponhim), said: From this very person's posterity there would arisepeople who would recite the Qur'an, but it would not go beyondtheir throat; they would kill the followers of Islam and would sparethe idol-worshippers. They would glance through the teachings ofIslam so hurriedly just as the arrow passes through the pray. If Iwere to ever find them I would kill them like 'Ad. (Book #005, Hadith#2318)- Sahih Muslim

    (3) Abu Said al-Khudri reported: 'Ali b. Abu Talib sent to theMessenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) from Yemen some goldalloyed with clay in a leather bag dyed in the leaves of Mimosaflava. He distributed it among four men. 'Uyaina b. Hisna, Aqra' b.Habis and Zaid al-Khail, and the fourth one was either Alqama b.'Ulatha or 'Amir b. Tufail. A person from among his (Prophet's)Companions said: We had a better claim to this (wealth) than these(persons). This (remark) reached the Apostle of Allah (may peace be

upon him) upon which he said: Will you not trust me, whereas I am atrustee of Him Who is in the heaven? The news come to me from theheaven morning and evening. Then there stood up a person withdeep snnken eyes, prominent cheek bones, and elevated forehead, thick beard, shaven head, tucked up loin cloth, and he said:

Messenger of Allah, fear Allah. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Woe tothee. do I not deserve most to fear Allah amongst the people of theearth? That man then returned. Khalid b. Walid then said:Messenger of Allah, should I not strike his neck? Upon this he (theHoly Prophet) said: Perhaps he may be observing the prayer. Khalidsaid: How many observers of prayer are there who profess withtheir tongue what is not in their heart? Upon this the Messenger ofAllah (may peace be upon him) said: I have not been commanded topierce through the hearts of people, nor to split their bellies(insides). He again looked at him and he was going back. Upon thishe (the Holy Prophet) said: There would arise a people from the

progeny of this (man) who would recite the Qur'an glibly, but itwould not go beyond their throats; they would (hurriedly) passthrough (the teachings of their) religion just as the arrow passesthrough the prey. I conceive that he (the Holy Prophet) also saidthis: If I find them I would certainly kill them as were killed the(people of) Thamud. (Book #005, Hadith #2319)- Sahih Muslim

    (4) Abu Salama and 'Ata' b. Yasar came to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri andasked him about Haruriya, saying: Did you hear the Messenger ofAllah (may peace be upon him) making a mention of them? He (AbuSai'd al-Khudri) said: I don't know who the Haruriya are, but I heard

the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: Therewould arise in this nation (and he did not say" out of them" ) apeople and you would hold insignificant your prayers as comparedwith their prayers. And they would recite the Qur'an which wouldnot go beyond their throats and would swerve through the religion(as blank) just as a (swift) arrow passes through the prey. Thearcher looks at his arrow, at its iron head and glances at its end(which he held) in the tip of his fingers to see whether it had anystain of blood. (Book #005, Hadith #2322)- Sahih Muslim

    (5) 'Ali said: Whenever I narrate to you anything from the

Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) believe it to beabsolutely true as falling from the sky is dearer to me than that ofattributing anything to him (the Holy Prophet) which he never said. When I talk to you of anything which is between me and you (theremight creep some error in it) for battle is an outwitting. I heard theMessenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: There wouldarise at the end of the age a people who would be young in age andimmature in thought, but they would talk (in such a manner) as if

their words are the best among the creatures. They would recite theQur'an, but it would not go beyond their throats, and they wouldpass through the religion as an arrow goes through the prey. Sowhen you meet them, kill them, for in their killing you would get areward with Allah on the Day of judgmelat. (Book #005, Hadith

    #2328)- Sahih Muslim

    (6) Abu Dharr reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him)as saying: Verily there would arise from my Ummah after me or soonafter me a group (of people) who would recite the Qar'an, but itwould not go beyond their throats, and they would pass cleanthrough their religion just as the arrow passes through the prey, and they would never come back to it. They would be the worstamong the creation and the creatures. Ibn Samit (one of thenarrators) said: I met Rafi' b. 'Amr Ghifari, the brother of Al-HakamGhifari and I said: What is this hadith that I heard from Abu Dharr, i.

    e. so and so? -and then I narrated that hadith to him and said: Iheard it from the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him).(Book #005, Hadith #2335)- Sahih Muslim

Allama Dahlan quotes in his book 'Addarus Sunnia' an authenticHadith of Prophet Mohammad (SAWS) which states as follows."There will be a Group of people emerging from the East (Najd) whowill recite Holy Quran but it will not go down their throats. They will

leave the fold of Islam like an arrow leaves the bow never to return.A feature to recognize this Group is that their heads would beshaven clean or they will sit in circles). (Addarus Sunnia, P. 49).

Hazrat Hassan Basri (RU) narrated that The Prophet (SAWS) saidthat there will come a time when people will speak of worldly affairsin mosque and when this period arrives, keep away from suchpeople as Allah (SWT) has no relation with them." (Mishkaat).

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (RU) and Hazrat Anas (RU) reportthat theProphet (SAWS) stated: My Ummah is destined to differ and bedivided. So a group will rise whose talks will sound very good buttheir character will be misleading. They will read the Quran but itwill not descend below their throats (meaning they will notunderstand its meanings). They will leave Deen just as an arrowpierces and goes right through the prey. They will not return toIslam. They are the worst of creation because of their nature and

constitution. They will call the people towards the Quran and Deenwhilst in reality they will have nothing to do with Islam. Whoeverwill confront them, he will be the most beloved servant of Allah. TheSahaba inquired: "Ya Rasoolullah, (SAWS) what is their sign?" Hereplied: "Sitting in Halqa (circle).(Mishkat, p. 308).

It is in Tirmizi. Hazrat Imraan, the son of Hazrat Haseen (RU) reportsthat the Prophet (SAWS) disliked three tribes life long, (i) BanuSaqeef, (ii) Banu Hanifa, and (iii) Banu Umayya.

Allama al-Sayyid Ahmad Ibn Zayni al-Dahlan (died 1304 H / 1886AD), Mufti of Makka and Shaikh al-Islam in Hijaz, narrates anauthentic Hadith in his book 'Addarus Sunniah',which he has quotedfrom Sihaah. Prophet Mohammad (SAWS) is reported to have said:

There will rise a group of people in the East who will recite the HolyQuran, but alas, the Quran will not go beyond their throat. Thisgroup will keep rising till the Day of Judgment and they willeventually rise with Dajjal. Their main symbol will be (they will) sitin groups (Halqa). (Addarus Sunniah, P. 50)
