MCP SUPPLEMENTAL PHASE IIINVESTIGATION/RCRA FACILITY INVESTIGATION OF HOUSATONIC RIVER AND SILVER LAKE

HOUSATONIC RIVER WATER COLUMN PCB AND TSS DATA RECEIVED DURING November 1996 (Concentrations are presented in parts per million, ppm)

Notes; 1. Samples were collected by Blasland, Bouck & Lee, Inc. on October 25-26, 1996 and submitted to Northeast Analytical Environmental Services for analysis of

unfiltered PCBs and Total Suspended Solids (TSS). 2. Routine sampling methods involved the collection of samples using either the composite grab method or the OH-76 depth integrated sampler, depending upon water depth

and velocity. The composite grab method was used on all locations except for Holmes Road, New Lenox Road, Woods Pond Headwaters, former Housatonic Street Bridge Abutments, and Division Street. This method involved the collection of a 5-liter composite sample consisting of 1-liter discrete samples collected at 1-minute intervals for five minutes. The duplicate grab sample was collected at each location immediately following sample collection using routine protocols, and consisted of a 1-liter grab sample collected directly into the laboratory-supplied container.

    3. Housatonic River flow, measured at the Coltsville Gaging Station, was approximately 128 cubic feet per second (cfs) during this sampling event. 4. ND - Compound was analyzed for, but not detected. The detection limit is presented in parentheses. 5. Blind duplicate results are presented in brackets.

HOUSATONIC RIVER WATER COLUMN PCB AND TSS DATA RECEIVED DURING FEBRUARY 1997 (Concentrations are presented in parts per million, ppm)

Notes: 1. Samples were collected by Blasland, Bouck & Lee, Inc., on January 30-31,1997, and submitted to Northeast Analytical, Inc., for analysis of unfiltered PCBs

and Total Suspended Solids (TSS). 2. Routine sampling methods involved the collection of samples using either the composite grab method or the DH-76 depth integrated sampler, depending upon

water depth and velocity. The composite grab method was used on all locations except for New Lenox Road, Former Housatonic Street Bridge Abutments, and Division Street. This method involved the collection of a 5-liter composite sample consisting of 1-liter discrete

samples collected at 1-minute intervals for five minutes. The duplicate grab samples were collected at each location immediately following sample collection using routine protocols, and consisted of 1-liter grab samples collected using a telescoping pole and a laboratory supplied sample container.

    3. ND - Compound was analyzed for, but was not detected. The detection limit is presented in parentheses. 4. NA - River flow was not measured at this location. 5. Blind duplicate results are presented in brackets.
