Each click gives you an additional 15 minutes.Outside of VMware events, you can extend your lab time up to 9 hours and 30
minutes. Each click gives you an additional hour.
Activation Prompt or Watermark
When you first start your lab, you may notice a watermark on the desktop indicatingthat Windows is not activated.
HOL-2054-01-ISM
Page 4HOL-2054-01-ISM
One of the major benefits of virtualization is that virtual machines can be moved andrun on any platform. The Hands-on Labs utilizes this benefit and we are able to run thelabs out of multiple datacenters. However, these datacenters may not have identicalprocessors, which triggers a Microsoft activation check through the Internet.
Rest assured, VMware and the Hands-on Labs are in full compliance with Microsoftlicensing requirements. The lab that you are using is a self-contained pod and does nothave full access to the Internet, which is required for Windows to verify the activation.Without full access to the Internet, this automated process fails and you see this
watermark.
This cosmetic issue has no effect on your lab.
Look at the lower right portion of the screen
Please check to see that your lab has finished with all the startup routines and is readyfor you to start. If you see anything other than "Ready", please wait a few minutes. Ifafter 5 minutes your lab has not changed to "Ready", please ask for assistance.

User Environment Manager OverviewVMware User Environment Manager offers personalization and dynamic policyconfiguration across any virtual, physical and cloud-based Windows desktopenvironment. User Environment Manager simplifies end-user profile management byproviding organizations with a single, light-weight and scalable solution that leveragesexisting infrastructure. It accelerates time-to-desktop and time-to-application byreplacing bloated roaming profiles and unmaintainable, complex logon scripts. It mapsenvironmental settings (such as networks and printers), and dynamically applies end-user security policies and personalization.
When used with Horizon Cloud, this focused, powerful and scalable solution isengineered to deliver workplace productivity while driving down the cost of day-to-daydesktop support and operations.

Using and Configuring UserEnvironment ManagerWith Horizon Cloud on Azure, the User Environment Manager Agent is automaticallyinstalled when deploying an Image from the Azure Marketplace. Configuring UserEnvironment Manager with Horizon Cloud on Azure is identical to using UEM withtraditional virtual dekstops and applications. The primary difference is where the data isstored. In order to maintain an optimal end user experience, User Environment Managershould be deployed in the same Microsoft Azure Regions as your Horizon Cloud Node.Infrastructure requirements are minimal, comprised primarily of Server Message Block(SMB) file shares. User Environment Manager uses one share for configuration data andanother for profile archive data. You can deploy one or more Windows Server VirtualMachines (VMs) on Microsoft Azure and configure file sharing.
There are many server models available in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace that wouldwork with User Environment Manager. Consider using Dv2, Dv3 or Ev3 series VMs tocreate file servers for the requisite SMB file shares. Add additional disks toaccommodate increased performance demand (input/output operations per second, orIOPS) as needed.
For more information on User Environment manager, visit one of the User EnvironmentManager Hands-on-Lab.
