What is a learning community?A learning community is two or more classes blended together with the same students in each class.

Why should I take a learning community? If you join a learning community, you will see how knowledge is an interconnected web of understanding rather than just a collection of separate categories. You will also get to know your classmates and instructors better than in most regular classes, making learning more social.

How do I register for a learning community?Select the learning community that is right for you. Then register for both (or all three) courses of the learning community in the regular way (be sure to set up your entire schedule first, and then register). You cannot withdraw from just one of the classes—they come as in inseparable set.

I felt as if this [learning community] was more than a place for learning. When I came to school I would look forward to coming, primarily because I felt so comfortable. Projects were a breeze because of the interest and support from fellow group members and the instructors. If I had a choice I would join more of these learning communities. It is a better way of learning, and makes understanding the material more interesting. Interesting material is a lot easier to remember and a lot easier to place in everyday life.

PS: Classmates from these learning communities still remain close friends.
