Tip wiping sponges serve two main functions: to removesurface oxides which form on the tip, and to wipe theexcess solder from the tip, exposing the tip point definitionand offering the operator a well defined tip with which tosolder.

Plato premium sponges are manufactured with all naturalmaterials to exacting specifications. Pure cellulose (a woodderivative) is used. Cellulose is selected for its ability to holdmany times its weight in water and for its resistance toabrasion and tearing forces which occur during the tip wipingprocess.

Plato premium sponges are designed to expand to athickness of 1" (26mm) which will hold water for longperiods of time and meet ANSI (J-STD-001B) for lowsulphur content and fine porosity.

CAUTION: Many economy sponges are manufactured with man-made fibers and materials typically found in non-industrial (household)type sponges. These sponges contain colorings, sizings, plasticizers,stiffeners, and other contaminants which will promote detinning and shorttip life. SYNTHETIC SPONGES ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USEAS TIP CLEANING SPONGES.

Use only Plato pure cellulose sponges to aid in keeping yoursolder tips well tinned and to extend tip life.
