and Implementation. Built to support experts and leaders in children’s services, including youth,
young adults, and families from communities across the nation, Ideas@theInstitute includes 40,000
online users and over 1,000 hours of online learning content.

https://theinstitute.myabsorb.com/#/dashboard. It looks like the image below. If you already have
an account in Ideas@theInstitute, use the purple LOGIN button in the upper right corner of landing
page to enter your account.

Creating a New Profile In order to access the trainings in Ideas@TheInstitute, you will need to create a new profile. Click on
the orange SIGN-UP button in the second row of images on the page (A).
The login screen will appear. Use the purple SIGN UP button at the bottom (B).

The SIGN-UP form will pop-up. Please provide all required information noted with an asterisk (*).
Once you’ve completed the Sign-Up form, then click the purple Sign Up button (C) at the bottom of
the form. You will then be directed into the Ideas@TheInstitute LMS dashboard.

Navigating to Training
Once you create an account and log in, you will see a landing page that looks similar to the public
landing page for Ideas@theInstitute. there are a variety of ways to navigate to the trainings you may
be interested in. Use the scroll bar (A) to scroll down the landing page.
There are many ways to access content that interests you. Click on the Catalog button (B) to browse
our offerings. Click on the My Courses tile (C) to continue or start courses that you have enrolled in.

Or click on the featured content that most interests you: TA Network Learning Communities (D), PIEC
Online Training (Parent, Infant, Early Childhood) (D), or NTI (National Adoption Competency Training
accessible by invitation only) (D). Please note that NTI content requires access special access. The
Child Welfare Academy trainings will be added soon.

From the landing page, locate and click on the white and orange TA Network Learning Communities
button (A).

This will take you into a list of the TA Network Learning Communities curricula. Click on the Learning
Community you are interested in exploring to enter (B).
You will then be on the landing page of that learning community. Below is an example. Scroll down to
view all of the course offerings in this learning community.

To begin a class, click on the purple ENROLL button. The word ENROLL will then change to the word
START. Click on the start button to enter that individual course (C).
A course may have one part or more than one part. You can click the purple start button to begin
each part of a course (D). Use the back button in the upper left corner to return to the previous
screen (E).

Once a class begins, you can stop it at any time and return to the course page by hitting the X in the
upper right corner (F).
Parents, Infants, and Early Childhood (PIEC) Courses
To go to the PIEC courses, click the white Maryland Sefel Pyramid Model button (A).

This will take you into a list of the PIEC courses listed alphabetically which looks like the image
below.
To enter a course, click the $0.00 button (B) for that course and walk through the free payment
process.

After you have enrolled, you will then click the Start button (C).
This will take you the course page where the course activities are housed, including an overall
description (D). Use the Scroll bar (E) to see all of the activities required or that are included as part
of that course.

Click the Enroll button (F) on the module you’d like to take.
Then click the Start button (G).

Some of our courses have pre-requisites that may include requiring users to watch an introductory
video, submit a needs assessment, or add demographic information (H). Pre-requisites need to be
completed prior to accessing the content.
Additionally, most of our courses require completion of a Pre-Test (I) before the content becomes
available.

Most of our courses require the successful completion of a Post-Test (J) and course evaluation in
order to receive a certificate of completion. The Post-Test will only be available for you to take after
you have completed all modules in a course. The course evaluation will be available once you’ve
successfully completed the Post-Test.
Access Certificates of Completion
If an online training offers a certificate of completion, you can access it from your landing page.
Click the Transcript tile (A) under the My Ideas@TheInstitute Dashboard section

Any certificates of completion you have earned are in the Certificates section (B). You will click the
Download button (C) to download to your computer.
Resetting Your Password
If you have forgotten your password and need to reset it, click on the Forgot Password link (A) on the
Ideas@TheInstitute LMS log in page.

You will then see a pop-up prompting you to enter your username or email. Please note that your
username and email are the same in the LMS. Enter your email in either area (B) and click the Reset
Password button (C).
You will then see a pop-up (D) notifying you that an email has been sent with a link to reset your
password.
NOTE: The email is auto-generated by the LMS. Sometimes auto-generated emails may end up in
your spam or junk folders. So if you don’t see the email in your inbox, then please check your spam
or junk folder.

Accessing Help Desk Support
Help Desk support is available Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm ET by phone, email, and live chat.

Live Chat: You can access the live chat for our Help Desk support from the bottom of all web pages
in the LMS. Click on Online Chat (A) to begin a live chat with our Help Desk.
A new tab (B) will open and you will be prompted to enter your Name and Email (C). Once you’ve
entered your Name and Email, click the Start Chat button (D) to begin a live chat with our Help Desk.
