COMMITTEE ON BUDGETARY CONTROLDRAFT BALANCE SHEET OF ACTIVITIES DURING THE 8th TERM

2nd year from May 2015 to April 2016

During the second year of the 8th Legislative Term, the Budgetary Control Committee conducted afull cycle of the 2014 discharge for the various EU institutions and bodies. Additionally, theCommittee still worked on improving its performance and focused on how the political objectivesare achieved through better control over the European Union's finances as well as throughincreased transparency.

The Committee consisted of 30 members including the chair and four vice-chairs. Throughout thesecond year of the 8th Legislative Term the Committee held 26 ordinary meetings and 11coordinators' meetings as well as a number of other meetings including extraordinarymeetings, hearings, workshops, missions and joint committee meetings.

During the second year of the 8th Legislative Term the Committee adopted 67 reports, 10opinions and 26 working documents.

In addition, the Committee held 4 public hearings, had 1 annual meeting with the Court ofAuditors, and conducted 2 missions within the EU during this period.

The Committee held 26 exchanges of views with Members and Director Generals of the EuropeanCommission, mainly in the context of the 2014 discharge procedure.

Furthermore, 43 exchanges of views were held with the Members and Representatives of theCourt of Auditors in the framework of the consideration of the Court of Auditors' Special Reports.

2 exchanges of views were held with the Secretary General of the European Parliament and 1exchange of view with the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

In addition to the abovementioned, the following exchanges of views were held: 1 with theDirector-General of OLAF, 1 with the OLAF Supervisory Committee, 16 exchanges of views with 30Representatives of Agencies, Joint Undertakings and other Institutions, and 10 exchanges of viewswith 30 special guests and bodies.

Within the context of nominations for Membership of the Court of Auditors, the Committee held 7hearings with the nominated candidates.

As regards the activities of the policy department for the Committee in the course of the first yearof the 8th Legislative Term, 3 workshops and 4 external studies were requested.
