Dr. David Clark received his dental degree in 1986 from the University of Washington School of Dentistry, home to some of the legends of cast gold such as the late Dr. Richard Tucker. David’s goal with composite dentistry has always been to elevate its longevity and health to the “Gold Standard” of his predecessors. To accomplish that, he embarked on a quest to develop modern cavity preparations, matrices, wedges, separators, and filling and polishing methods to bring composite dentistry out of the dark ages.
He intends to create the same pride and confidence in composite that has always been part of the legacy of traditional cast gold. 25 years of clinical microscope dentistry in a hometown practice, lab research and hundreds of lectures and hands on courses has produced matrix systems and methods that are reinventing not just the way we do restorative dentistry, but more importantly the way that we think about restorative dentistry. The Diastema Closure matrices are for creating a new and exaggerated emergence profile, closing diastema larger than 1mm and for large black triangles. The Diastema Closure matrices have more curvature than the anterior matrices and are included in both the Anterior and Complete Kits. Combining papilla regeneration with space closure is the key to optimal diastema closure.

The Bioclear 360° Veneer comes as a 6 tooth kit with 12 matrices that are specially designed to create a 2 part form around the tooth. This means there are both mesial and distal abutting matrices. These forms create a mold around the tooth, sealing the gingival margins and enabling heated composite resin to completely ensconce the tooth with an impressively durable, solid, pearlescent shell of composite. Contact optimization is an essential part of the Bioclear method. Natural contacts are generally too tight and too rough to allow insertion of a mylar matrix.Bioclear TruContact Saws and Sanders are designed to work in sequence to lighten the contact which then improves the ease of placement for the mylar matrices.As an additional advantage, the TruContacts also remove biofilm from the contact.

The Twin Ring, Bioclear’s newest technological advancement, is designed for use in sectional Class II matrix adaptation and can be used with any matrix. The unique design allows the Twin Ring to adapt and cling to a variety of tooth types and shapes. The geometry of the ring causes it to apply a strong, even tension that assists in the separation of the teeth; creates a strong seal with the matrix; and doesn’t allow the composite to flow past the gingival margin which eliminates line angle overhangs.

The original Bioclear matrices for posterior restorations come in three lengths and three curvatures. Choosing the right matrix is important because mylar matrices cannot be burnished, unlike metal matrices. The Bioclear Diamond Wedge is designed to solve many of the difficulties in using traditional wedges. The Diamond Wedge requires less effort to place than traditional wedges due to the diamond shaped cut-out in the tip, which collapses during insertion. The wedge then springs open once through the embrasure, creating a tight seal and preventing
the wedge from backing out. While still maintaining strong tooth separation, the flexibility of the Diamond Wedge creates an excellent marginal adaptation. The anatomical design and flexible material creates a complete marginal seal which eliminates the uncontrolled flow of excess composite and minimizes clean up after the composite has been cured.

Anatomic, translucent silicone “hugs” pliable Bioclear matrices while lightly separating teeth for strong and broad contacts combined with round, smooth embrasures.As opposed to other wedges, the interproximator is placed by grasping both ends, stretching them apart until

The Bioclear Learning Center has three locations. Our Tacoma, WA, USA location is in the vibrant and beautiful Pacific Northwest. Our Denver, CO, USA location is on the eastern side of the magnificent Rocky Mountains. Our Solihull, UK location is near historically rich Birmingham.
