Introduction The word “devotional,” comes from the root word devote. Devote means something or someone consecrated or dedicated to a deity, cause or a thing. Paul exhorts us in Romans 12:1 to be entirely devoted to God, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. In order to be an effective Christian, you must cultivate a lifestyle of devotion to God. This is where this devotional can help. The purpose of this devotional book "Be Bold" is to help strengthen your faith and take Bold faith action so that you may overcome fear in order to fulfill the Father’s will for your life. It is broken down into 15 daily devotions to accompany your time of consecration that you can read, study, pray and apply to promote your spiritual maturation. Using this Devotional Using this devotional is very simplistic, all the tools you will need is a willing heart, your Bible, the devotional and something to write with. You should start by saying a simple prayer asking God to guide you in your time of devotion with Him. Read the Scripture, the short commentary and follow the directives in the action steps. It's that easy! To take it to the next level, partner with a friend or relative to share what you have discovered in your private time with God. This will be helpful in gaining more insights into the Word of God and reinforce your commitment to apply what you have learned. It is our prayer that this devotional will be of great value to you and make an eternal impact in your life. May God truly bless you and cause you to become more and more like Christ. Be Bold and Courageous; for the Lord your God shall be with you in wherever you go and do!

Boldness Requires Action Day 1

Key Verse: Joshua 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it [to] the right hand or [to] the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. Read & Study Joshua 1 The word "Boldness‖ means willingness to take risks; act innovatively; to be free; have fearless confidence, cheerful courage, assurance. It’s impossible to live an effective Christian life without boldness. Acting boldly by faith in what God commands us to do requires stepping out against external and internal resistance and contradictions. It’s one thing to say to a Believer, ―Be strong! Be very courageous!‖ And quite something else to enable him to do it. Like Joshua, every Believer’s strength and courage come from meditating on the Word of God, believing its promises, and obeying its precepts. It is the steadfast character of God and His infallible Word that gives believers confidence to go boldly where they haven’t ventured before. Action Steps: · What does Boldness mean to you as it relates to your kingdom assignment? · What external and internal resistance and contradictions do you need to overcome? · Write down areas in your life that you need to act more boldly in. Ask God for His help to act more boldly. Consider finding a mature brother or sister to help you stay accountable to this new commitment to living boldly. Prayer: Father give me the boldness to take action on what You told me to do. I put my complete confidence in You and Your Word.

Boldness in God’s Divine Presence Day 2

Key Verse: Joshua 1:5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Read & Study Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us? Before Joshua began his conquest of Jericho, the Lord appeared to him and assured him of His presence (Josh. 5:13–15). That was all Joshua needed to be guaranteed of victory. The Lord encouraged Joshua that as He was with Moses so will He be with Him. Like Joshua, God has given us the promise of His presence to fulfill His purpose. The gospel of Matthew opens with ―Emmanuel ... God with us‖ (1:23) and closes with Jesus saying, ―Lo, I am with you always‖ (28:20). The writer of Hebrews 13:5 quotes Joshua 1:5 and applies it to Christians today: ―I will never leave you nor forsake you.‖ This means that you can move forward in boldness being assured of God’s presence and power to help you to fulfill your assignment in the face of adverse situations. ―If God be for us, who can be against us?‖ (Rom. 8:31). Action Steps: · What does it mean to you to know that God in with you? · How has assured you in the past of His presence with you? Prayer: Father I thank a You for being a very present help for me in a time of need. I thank You for being Jehovah-Shammah (The Lord is There). I can boldly say that You, Lord are my Helper, I will not be afraid! I love You for giving Your ever comforting presence.

Be Bold Because God Delights in You Day 3

Key Verse: Numbers 14:8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. 9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they [are] bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD [is] with us: fear them not. Read & Study Numbers 13 & 14 Caleb and Joshua spoke to the people and assured them that the Israelite army could easily take the land because God was with them. Joshua and Caleb saw the Canaanites as ―bread‖ for the Jewish army to ―eat up‖ (14:9). The key to operating in Boldness is knowing that God delights in you. The word ―Delight‖ means to take pleasure in; to be pleased with. Psalm 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. You have to embrace the truth that through the finished work of Christ on the cross, you were brought into a place of favor with God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. No enemy is ever a match for those whom God takes pleasure in. Be bold in the truth that God will empower you to eat up your enemies up like bread. Action Steps: · What are some ways that we can delight ourselves in the Lord? · How does it make you feel to know that God delights in you? · Read and meditate on these promises of victory that God has given us. Psalm 41:11 Psalm 47:2; 1 Corinthians 15:57; 2 Corinthians 2:14; 1 John 5:4 Prayer: Father, I thank You that no weapon; spiritual; biological; financial; mental; emotional or physical that is formed against me will ever prosper. You are my strength like no other. I worship a You!!!

Be Bold with What God has equipped you with Day 4

Key Verse: 1 Samuel 17:50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but [there was] no sword in the hand of David. Read & Study 1 Samuel 17 The very weapon that David used—a sling—was a shepherd’s weapon, almost the toy of a child, and yet: God used it to defeat the giant and rout the Philistine army. When Goliath saw a lad coming with a sling in one hand and a staff in the other, he laughed at him. ―Am I a dog that you come at me with a stick?‖ You must learn to be confident in what God has given you to rout the enemy and to receive your victory. Goliath laughed because he underestimated the power of God that was behind David’s bold faith action. There are times when God will expect you to do big things with what seem like little resources. You must have faith in the fact that little becomes much in the Master’s hand. Be bold with what God has equipped you with. Remember ―It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog!‖ Action Steps: · What has God equipped you with? Takes some time to do some inventory · How does the story of David encourage you to utilize what God has given you? · Spend some time asking God to show you how to better utilize what He has equipped you with. Prayer: Father, I thank You for the weapons of warfare You give me to fight with; which are not carnal, but mighty through You, to the pulling down of every stronghold. Thank You for teaching my hands to war and my fingers to fight. Thank You for victory and validation in every situation.

Be Bold in Your Sacrificing Day 5

Key Verse: 1 Kings 17:13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go [and] do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring [it] unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. 14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day [that] the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. 15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat [many] days. Read & Study 1 Kings 17 God does supernatural things for those who are willing to sacrifice based on His prompting to do so. Sacrifice is the willingness to go above and beyond your initial expectation. The woman’s assets were few: a little oil in a flask, a handful of barley in a large grain jar (―barrel‖ kjv), and a few sticks to provide fuel for a fire. But Elijah’s assets were great, for God Almighty had promised to take care of him, his hostess, and her son. Elijah gave her God’s promise that neither the jar of grain nor the flask of oil would be used up before the end of the drought and famine. Being bold requires that you be willing to sacrifice what God ask you to give up for greater purpose. This is not always easy, this can only be done by faith in God. You must have an revelation and expectation that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. (Ephesians 3:20). Sacrifice is the portal into the supernatural supply of God. Action Steps: · What in life have God told you to sacrifice? · Why is it so difficult for you? · How would you benefit most if you were to give it up ? Prayer: Father, I thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son for me. It’s because of His willingness to sacrifice, that I have eternal life and supernatural provisions.

Be Bold and Step Out! Day 6

Key Verse: Judges 6:11 And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which [was] in Ophrah, that [pertained] unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide [it] from the Midianites. 12 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD [is] with thee, thou mighty man of valour. 13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where [be] all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. 14 And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? Read & Study Judges 6 About the time of the eighth Midianite invasion, God called a farmer in Manasseh named Gideon to become the deliverer of His people. Gideon started his career as somewhat of a coward (Judg. 6), then became a conqueror (7:1–8:21). In order for Gideon to transform from coward to conqueror; he had to boldly take God at His Word; step out of fear and hiding to move into his destiny. Fear and excuse are common enemies to boldness and destiny. The anointing was already upon Gideon to do what God destined for him to do, but he had to be willing to step out of hiding. You must be willing to come out of the background and into the forefront if are going to allow God bless you and others. If you step up and step out, God will show out for you. Action Steps: · What fears or excuses is keeping you from stepping into your destiny? · What are some things in your past do you need to address to overcome the grip of fear in your life? · What practical application can you take to step out and fulfill your destiny? Prayer: Father, Help me to step out by faith! In Jesus Name!

Boldness requires the right Crowd Day 7

Key Verse: Judges 7:2 (NLT) The LORD said to Gideon, "You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength. 3 (NLT) Therefore, tell the people, 'Whoever is timid or afraid may leave this mountain and go home.'" So 22,000 of them went home, leaving only 10,000 who were willing to fight. 4 (NLT) But the LORD told Gideon, "There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will test them to determine who will go with you and who will not." 5 (NLT) When Gideon took his warriors down to the water, the LORD told him, "Divide the men into two groups. In one group put all those who cup water in their hands and lap it up with their tongues like dogs. In the other group put all those who kneel down and drink with their mouths in the stream." 6 (NLT) Only 300 of the men drank from their hands. All the others got down on their knees and drank with their mouths in the stream. 7 (NLT) The LORD told Gideon, "With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home." Read & Study Judges 7 God tested Gideon’s faith by sifting his army of 32,000 volunteers until only 300 men were left. When it comes to the fulfillment of God’s will; you must allow God to pick your crowd. Everyone is not authorized to go along with you. If Gideon’s faith had been in the size of his army, then his faith would have been very weak by the time God was through with them! Less than 1 percent of the original 32,000 ended up following Gideon to the battlefield. God told Gideon why He was decreasing the size of the army: He didn’t want the soldiers to boast that they had won the victory over the Midianites. Victories won because of faith bring glory to God because nobody can explain how they happened. ―If you can explain what’s going on in your ministry,‖ ―then God didn’t do it.‖ -Dr. Bob Cook Action Steps: · What means do you use to determine those whom God has called to help you? · Ask God to help you to show you who He has called to be your destiny helper and to help you to separate from destiny hinderers. Prayer: Father, help me to go with only those You chosen for me.

Boldness to Overcome Insecurity Day 8

Key Verse: Jeremiah 1:4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. 6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I [am] a child. 7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I [am] a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. 8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I [am] with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. 9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. Read & Study Jeremiah 1 Jeremiah hesitated as he looked at the work before him and the wickedness around him, and when he looked at the weakness within himself, Jeremiah was certain that he wasn’t the man for the job. When it comes to serving the Lord, there’s a sense in which nobody is adequate. ―And who is sufficient for these things?‖ (2 Cor. 2:16) asked the great apostle Paul as he pondered the responsibilities of ministry. Paul then answered his own question: ―Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God‖ (3:5). When God calls us, however, He isn’t making a mistake, and for us to hesitate or refuse to obey is to act on the basis of unbelief and not faith. It’s one thing for us to know our own weaknesses, but it’s quite something else for us to say that our weaknesses prevent God from getting anything done. God gave Jeremiah and us three assurances that we can be bold and fulfill our destiny, His preference in choosing us; everything you are and everything you are not; God wanted. His strength is made perfect in your weakness. God also gives us the assurance of His presence that He will never leave us nor forsake us and His power to help us. Action Steps: · How does Insecurity keep you back from boldly obeying God? · What causes you to feel inadequate? · Ask God to help you to overcome every insecurity. Prayer: Father, thank You for choosing me. Father I love You!

Boldness Comes By Spending Time With Jesus Day 9

Key Verse: Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. Read & Study Acts 4 Men with their lack of education and training were not expected to speak with either courage or confidence before the supreme powers of the land. The only explanation for the ability of Peter and John to do so is that they had received a tremendous revelation and understanding about Scripture from the Savior! They were bold because they had the Holy Spirit, and they personally knew the One who had all authority in heaven and on earth (Matt 28:18). They ―had been with Jesus‖!‖ Spending time with Jesus is the difference maker when it comes to functioning in boldness or weakness. It’s in His presence that our lives are completely transformed. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NET) And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Action Steps: · Why is spending uninterrupted time with Jesus vital? · How can you make your time spent with Jesus more effective? · What steps are you taking to guard your time spent with Jesus? Prayer: Jesus, thank You for giving me the privilege of being able to fellowship personally with a You. In Your presence there in fullness of joy and at Your right hand there are pleasures forever more. I love Your presence, it’s life for me. Please help me to treasure Your presence.

Come Boldly to His Throne Day 10

Key Verse: “Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].” HEBREWS 4:16 AMP Read & Study: Hebrews 4 What a great privilege and pleasure we have been afforded by the work of Christ to come to the throne with confidence and without fear. Every believer in Christ is invited, and is even encouraged, to ―come boldly unto the throne of grace‖! What a great throne it is because our Great High Priest is ministering there. We can come boldly into the presence of God and get the help we need (Heb. 4:16). No trial is too great, no temptation is too strong, but that Jesus Christ can give us the mercy and grace that we need, when we need it. You will obtain amazing grace and blessings when you exercise your right to come into the presence of God through a Christ. Oh what peace we often forfeit; oh what needless grief we bear, all because we do not carry everything to the Lord in prayer. Go there now, the Father is waiting on you. Action Steps: How does it make you feel to know that you have a standing invitation to come before God’s throne? What stops you from accessing the presence of God through prayer? Take some time now and thank God for 24/7 access into His presence. Prayer: Father; I thank You for Mercy and grace being made available in my time of need. Thank You for 24/7 access to You.

More Boldness Day 11

Key Verse: “Acts 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, 30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. Read & Study: Acts 11 In our text, the Apostles had received a threat to not preach Jesus. Despite the strict warning they received, they came together to seek help from God. They did not ask for protection; they asked for power. They did not ask for fire from heaven to destroy the enemy (see Luke 9:51–56) but for power from heaven to preach the Word and heal the sick (see Matt. 5:10–12, 43–48). Their great desire was for boldness in the face of opposition (see Acts 4:17). It takes Spirit inspired boldness to remain faithful to Kingdom assignments. They did not permit their faith in divine sovereignty to destroy human responsibility, for they were faithful to witness and pray. Augustine exclaimed, “Pray as though everything depends on God, and work as though every thing depended on you.” Faith in a sovereign Lord is a tremendous encouragement for God’s people to keep serving the Lord when the going is difficult. What task are you finding to be most difficult to perform? Ask God for more boldness. Action Steps: · Why did the Apostles ask for more boldness? · What is the difference between Spirit induced boldness and human induced boldness? · According to Acts 4:29-37 what were the outcomes for the Apostles when they received more boldness? Prayer: Father; give me more boldness to speak for You. Please extend Your hand and release Your power for signs, miracles and wonders.

Ask Boldly Day 12

Key Verse: 2 Kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. 10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: [nevertheless], if thou see me [when I am] taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be [so]. 11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, [there appeared] a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. 12 And Elisha saw [it], and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. 13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; 14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where [is] the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over. Read & Study: 2 Kings 2 Elijah asked Elisha his successor simply to name the one gift he wanted more than anything else. Elisha had a ready answer: he wanted a double portion of the spirit of his master. Like a firstborn son serving a father, Elisha had walked with Elijah and attended to his needs (3:11; 1 Kings 19:21), but the only inheritance he desired was a double measure of his master’s inner spirit of courage, faithfulness, faith in God, and obedience to God’s will. The request was based on Deuteronomy 21:17, the law of inheritance for the firstborn. Though there were many ―sons of the prophets,‖ Elisha saw himself as Elijah’s ―firstborn son‖ who deserved the double inheritance that Moses commanded. This was a bold ask of Elijah, which would ultimately be fulfilled by God. When it comes to prayer, we should not be afraid to ask big things of our big God, as long as it is according to His will. How can we establish that? By His Word. Action Steps: · What bold prayer do you feel lead of the Holy Spirit to ask? . Read Jeremiah 33:3, How does this text inspire you to pray? Prayer: Father, You are God, there is nothing too hard for You!

Bold Faith Day 13

Key Verse: Matthew 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth [his] hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Read & Study: Matthew 13 Before we criticize Peter for sinking, let’s honor him for his magnificent demonstration of faith. He dared to be different. Anybody can sit in the boat and watch. But it takes a person of real faith to leave the boat and walk on the water. If we are going to do great things with God, we are going to have to be willing to boldly step out of our comfort zone and into the faith zone What caused Peter to sink? His faith began to waver because he took his eyes off the Lord and began to look at the circumstances around him. ―Why did you doubt?‖ Jesus asked him (Matt. 14:31). This word translated doubt carries the meaning of ―standing uncertainly at two ways.‖ If Jesus says, ―Come,‖ then that word is going to accomplish its intended pur pose. Since He is the ―author and finisher of our faith‖ (Heb. 12:2). Bold faith only sees one way, that way is Jesus! Action Steps: · What comfort zone do you need to conquer? · How can you exercise bold faith in Christ to do so? Prayer: Father, help me to get out of my comfort zone. Give me grace to trust You even when things seems to be the most challenging. Even if I fail help me to fail forward.

Bold faith in Weakness Day 14

Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 12:8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. Read & Study: 2 Corinthians 12 The thorn in the flesh was Satan’s message to Paul, but God had another message for him, a message of grace. It was a message of strengthening grace. God permits us to become weak so that we might receive His strength. This is a continuous process: ―My power is [being] made perfect in [your] weakness‖ (2 Cor. 12:9 niv). When Paul prayed three times for the removal of his pain, he was asking God for a substitution: ―Give me health instead of sickness, deliverance instead of pain and weakness.‖ Sometimes God does meet the need by substitution; but other times He meets the need by transformation. He does not remove the affliction, but He gives us His grace so that the affliction works for us and not against us. God’s power changed Paul’s perspective. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Paul no longer saw his challenges as obstacles but opportunities to a receive God’s all-sufficiency. Read & Study: John 16 Every Believer must understand that as long as we are in the world we will have trouble. Man [that is] born of a woman [is] of few days, and full of trouble (Job 14:1). This is the position we need to claim: we are in Christ, and therefore we can overcome the world and all of its hatred.
