Projet Accueil et

intégration

des nouveaux préposés

aux bénéficiaires

Notre équipe de soins compte 70% du

personnel composé de préposés aux bénéficiaires. On dénombre plus de 80

préposés au centre d’hébergement Denis-Benjamin Viger. Très près des

résidents, ceux-ci sont principalement responsables de communiquer leurs

observations, de donner les soins d’assistance et d’adapter leur approche, aux

besoins de la clientèle selon le plan thérapeutique infirmier. Ils sont au cœur

des activités de la vie quotidienne des résidents et de leurs activités sociales.

Ils font partie de leur milieu de vie et s’impliquent activement dans la vie de

l’unité. La formation et le soutien clinique s’avèrent essentiels pour

développer et consolider leurs compétences. Ils représentent un élément

incontournable à la qualité des services à notre clientèle. L’approche

relationnelle avec les résidents ainsi que la satisfaction du travail bien

accompli nous tiennent à cœur. Nous travaillons activement à développer un

programme d’accueil et d’intégration, projet d’organisation du travail piloté

avec le syndicat qui s’intitule : PAB – Mieux intégrer pour mieux entourer.

Nous visons à optimiser la rétention des PAB, à développer les outils pour

bâtir leur sentiment de sécurité et d’appartenance, à améliorer l’approche et

les soins d’hygiène pour la clientèle, à intégrer les PAB aux rencontres

interdisciplinaires et favoriser le travail d’équipe. Ainsi, tous les nouveaux

PAB seront intégrés selon un programme d’accueil complet qui offre les outils

appropriées et avec des personnes-ressources (guide et éclaireur) pour faciliter

leurs apprentissages et optimiser la familiarisation avec le milieu. Le projet

paritaire va bon train et malgré un peu de retard, il sera finalisé en septembre

2014.

A Welcome and

Integration Project

for new Personal

Support Workers

(préposés aux

beneficiaries)

A total of 70% of our nursing staff is composed of « Personal Support

Workers » or more commonly known in Québec as “préposés aux

bénéficiaires.” There are more than 80 personal support workers here at the

centre d’hébergement Denis-Benjamin Viger. These staff members work very

very close to our residents, and their primary responsibilities consist of

communicating their observations, providing assistance and adapting their

approach to the needs of the clientele according to the therapeutic plan given

by the nurse. They are the centre of all the residents’ daily activities and social

interactions. They are part of their living environment and implicate

themselves actively within the routine on the unit. Clinical support and

information sessions are essential in order develop and reinforce their

knowledge. They are an essential element in regards to the quality of services

we provide to our clientele. The relational approach with the residents and the

satisfaction of having a « job well done » is our main priority. We are actively

developing a welcome and integration program. This organisational project

led with the help of the union is called: “PAB – Mieux intégrer pour mieux

entourer.” We want to optimise keeping our PSW « personal support

workers » by developping tools to build their sense of security and belonging

in addition to improving their approach during hygiene care as well as

integrating them during interdisciplinary meeting to improve team work. This

way, all new PSW’s will be fully integrated within a welcome program that

will offer all the appropriate tools and a resource person that will help guide

and facilitate their learning in addition to familiarising them with their new

work environment. This project has already begun, and should be completed

in September 2014.
