Velocity Limitations In selecting a valve for either a liquid or gas/vapourapplication one of the major considerations is the effect offluid velocity. High velocity could lead to operationalproblems including erosion, excessive vibration andinstability. The following tables indicate the maximumrecommended velocity values for liquid and gas/vapourservices.
Inherent Rangeability The inherent rangeability of a control valve is the ratiobetween maximum and minimum flow within the workingcharacteristic at constant pressure drop.
Table 8. Rangeability Values

Sizing/Noise PredictionThe procedures for performing valve sizing, velocitycalculations and the predicted sound pressure levelgenerated by the Introl range of control valves are detailedin the Introl Sizing and Selection manual.
Modular Design:
The Introl range has been designed around a modularmanufacturing concept. Using this philosophy, a centrebody module selected to most suit the specified flowconditions and operating data, is combined with an endconnection size/rating, selected to support that module. This design feature allows not only the selection of full sizeends, but gives the facility, where conditions permit, to offeroversize end connections to suit a particular requirement.

Guide to Bonnet Selection
Selection of the bonnet design is undertaken on the basis of both theoperating temperature range and fluid media being handled. Figures2 to 4 illustrate the bonnet design options available for use with theSeries 20 range.
Table 1 below provides a general guide to the temperature limitationsof various bonnet designs and packing materials available. Wherefluid working temperatures below 0°C (32°F) and above 250°C(482°F) are specified, normalising bonnets are recommended toprotect the valve packing against extremes of temperature.
The Bellows Seal Bonnet option ensures absolute sealing of theprocess fluid within their rated pressure and temperature ranges. Anauxiliary packing box in the upper bonnet serves as an emergencyseal in the unlikely event of bellows failure.
Fabricated extension bonnets in stainless steel are available as aspecial option when a longer extension is required on cryogenicservice.

Introl Series 30 - FeaturesGeneral
The Series 30 valve is a three-way design of valve for use onblending two separate flows, by having two inlets and acommon outlet port, or dividing a flow into two proportionalparts by having one common inlet and two outlet ports. Thisrange of valves has been designed in three formsdesignated 30, 31 and 32, the first incorporating an insideseating trim (Fig. 1 ) to provide an economic solution for allmixing and selected diverting services. Series 31incorporates an outside seating trim (Fig. 2) which isspecifically designed for high duty diverting serviceapplications, while the Series 32 uses a balanced plug fordiverting service. Size for size the Design Cv of the trims isthe same regardless of the selected seating arrangement. An additional Series 32 valve is also available with balancedtrim for high differential pressure shut-off.
Performance:
• High flow capacity.
• Leakage capability - better than ANSI Class IV andconsistent with normal single seat valve specifications.
• High rangeability - well in excess of usual controlsystem requirements.
Design Flexibility:
• The availability of either an inner or an outer seateddesign to minimise any flow instabilities.
• Standard or normalising bonnets options to suittemperature conditions.
• Bellows seal available for positive leak proof stem seal.
• Wide range of interchangeable trim sizes.
• Full range of body and trim materials available.
High Duty Parts:
• Heavy duty top guide with additional skirt guiding onthe plug - effective in both seats.
• Seats are generously proportioned and are screwed intobody to ensure a leakproof seal.
• Case globe type body one piece construction withbottom connection bolted to main body. The bottomconnection is in the same material and has the samepressure rating as the main valve body.
• Deep all purpose packing box accommodating a varietyof proprietary packings.

• Bonnets
Where fluid working temperatures of above 250°C orbelow 0°C are specified, normalising bonnets arerecommended to protect the packing against extremesof temperature. In both cases the standard form ofconnection is the bolted bonnet arrangement.
• W Bellows Seal Bonnet
Bellows seal valves ensure absolute sealing within theirrated pressure and temperature ranges. An auxiliarypacking box in the upper bonnet serves as anemergency seal in the unlikely event of bellows failure.
• Diverting Duties
The Introl Series 30 valve fitted with the Introl Actuatormay be used for selected diverting duty as shown inTable 7.
• Packing
A full range of packing materials are available.
