Overview: You are a paleontologist. Your goal is to make history and be the first to uncover the

Tyrannosaurus Rex. In order to uncover the Tyrannosaurus Rex you must first build smaller

dinosaurs, which will reward you with the parts/bones of the T-Rex. The first paleontologist to

assemble all the parts of the T-Rex onto the T-Rex map wins the game.

Set-up:

● Shuffle the Bone card deck, and give every player three cards. Players should not show

anyone else their cards.

● Place all remaining Bone cards face down in a pile.

● Shuffle the Dinosaur card deck, and place in a pile face down. Remove the top three cards

on this deck, and place them in a line face up.

● Divide the T-Rex Bone Deck into three approximately equal numbered face up piles.

● Distribute 1 T-Rex map and 2 card discovery maps to each player.

Taking a Turn:

The objective of a turn is to use bone cards to build dinosaurs. Each dinosaur card will have a list of

body parts (bone cards) needed to build that dinosaur. To build a dinosaur, a player places the

required bone cards from their hand onto the table in front of them.

1. During a paleontologist’s turn, you can take as many moves as possible using the three bone

cards in your hand.

2. You must choose one of these three actions for the entirety of one turn and you may repeat

this action for as many bone cards in your hand as you like.

a. Build - Build bones of the face up dinosaurs (on dino cards) by placing them on the

labelled bone map in front of you (See example of built Dinosaur (Iguanodon)

below. You may build on top of bones already on your bone map. You can work on

up to two dinosaurs at a time. If you complete a dinosaur on your turn, collect the

number of T-Rex bones written at the bottom of the Dinosaur Card (See

Completing a Dinosaur section for more information)

b. Bury - Place a bone card from your hand on top of a previously built bone on

someone else’s dinosaur model to inconvenience them. This changes the bone until

another bone card is placed on top of that one, and changes the dinosaur model, and

making the original bone unusable. By changing someone else’s dinosaur model, you

can sabotage their excavation attempts!

c. Excavate - remove cards that are burying your own cards

3. Finish your turn by drawing bone cards from the bone pile so you have 3 cards in your hand

Completing a Dinosaur:

Completing dinosaur models will provide the paleontologist with a reward, written on the bottom of

each dinosaur card. When a dinosaur is completed, your dinosaur map will have all of the bones

written on the Dinosaur card placed and not covered. Each dinosaur card allows a player to excavate

a certain number of T-Rex bone cards, based on the completed dinosaur card. These T-Rex cards

are drawn from the three face up T-Rex bone piles, and are used to build a T-Rex, which all require

the same 6 body parts: tail, pelvis, legs, arms, torso, and head (as seen on the T-Rex maps).

Image 1: This shows what a player would do if they

were excavating an Iguanodon, placing the Bone cards

listed on the Iguanodon Dinosaur Card in front of them:

Building a T-Rex:

When drawing from the T-Rex piles, you can draw

one at a time from any pile you choose. You can draw

from the same pile multiple times, or switch piles.

Below is an example of a paleontologists T-Rex board,

where they have completed the excavation of a pelvis.

When all the body parts are covered like this, the

paleontologist will have won!
