• eSciDoc is a joint project of the Max-Planck-Society (MPS) and FIZ Karlsruhe

• 6 million € five-year grant (2004–2009) from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research

Easy to Install?• Straightforward, but still no installer

• Takes a computernerd at least half a day

• Installing on different platforms: no problem. We ran it on:– Windows– Mac OS– Fedora Linux

Trustworthy?

• MPDL is a heavy user of eSciDoc with PubMan, ViRR and Faces

• Focus is currently on bugfixing for version 1, not on adding new features

• 2.500 unit tests

– Though funding runs out mid 2009 MPDL and Fiz Karlsruhe have committed to support until 2011
