Mass for Four Voices
William Byrd
5 March 2017
11:15 AM
William Byrd (c. 1540-1623)
composed this Mass setting in
the 1590s during the height of the English Refor-
mation. The publication date is difficult to pin
point as it is believed Byrd did not publish all
parts together in order to make it easier to dis-
tribute for the celebration of Masses held in se-
cret in homes. Join us at the 11:15am Mass on
Sunday, 5 March to experience this inspiring
Mass setting!

St. Benedict’s Recruitment
Two years ago we established the St. Benedict
Choir for girls in grades 3-7. The Choristers pro-
vided musical leadership for the 9:00am Sunday
Mass, which has traditionally been a family ori-
entated Liturgy. The Cathedral Girl Choristers
will rehearse each Tuesday afternoon from
4:30pm-5:30pm and will be singing at least
twice a month. The choristers will learn about
vocal production, music theory and history,
sight-singing, and there will also be fun musical
activities!!

istry, please contact Daniel Sansone at

Bishop England High School is now in the mid-
dle of the capital campaign to build a tennis
complex. Many alumni, parents, and friends
have given their time, talent, and treasures for
this endeavor but none more than Michael L.
Runey III, class of ‘64. Michael was recently di-
agnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and
thus his friends and family knowing how im-
portant this project is to him have committed
themselves to raising funds to complete this pro-
ject. Because of Michael’s generosity towards
this project, BE has officially decided to honor
him by naming the center after him. If you
would like to contribute to the Michael L. Runey
III Tennis Center— Home of Msgr. John L. Man-
ning Tennis Courts, please visit www.behs.com
or send checks directly to the school at 363 Seven

Why schedule a Mass Intention?
Masses may be offered in reparation for the out-
rages, offenses and blasphemies against Christ in
the Holy Eucharist, and insults to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary. Masses may be offered in thanks-
giving for our blessings, family, health and an-
swer to prayers is very pleasing to the Most
Blessed Trinity. Masses for our departed loved
ones and all the Holy Souls in Purgatory is a great
act of charity, efficacious and meritorious.
If you would like to schedule a Mass Intention for
yourself of someone, please contact the Parish Of-
fice.
In your kindness, you are asked to pray for the
happy repose of the soul of parishioner Dr. Thom-
as T. Johnston. May God grant him eternal rest and
may the Lord's consolation be with his family.
