In a world where the media constantly bombards us with bad news, we have the privilege and opportunity to bring to our people good news. And it is good news of great joy! to all the people. We serve to people who, for the most part, are unhappy. We are continually told by the world around that happiness is found in having the right things, in relationships with right people, or in looking good and staying young. But we have good news that does more than make people happy; it brings people great joy -- deep-down, genuine, heartfelt joy! And this good news is for all people -- for all who will receive it by faith. May we never tire of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, especially this year when we are all as human race are challenged by pandemic and facing great loss of human lives and lot of unanswered questions and change of life styles which have become the new normal. It is during these uncertain times we are called to bring Joy, Peace Hope and love and share it with others by building healthy relationships with all the people reminding ourselves that we are all made in the Image of God called to love and serve one anoth- er in unity and oneness working toward the common goal of building the kingdom of God. “Do not be afraid, for see I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord”. Luke 2:10-11

Joyful Christmas greetings to you in the name of Christ the Lord. Though Christmas is a special time that many of us look forward to each year, the avalanche of headlines about Covid-19 and the number of deaths around the globe are so much a part of our consciousness these days which can make us wonder if the Christmas message of "peace on earth, good will toward all" has any meaning beyond the heartwarming sen-timents expressed on the Christmas cards we send to friends, family, and co-workers.

In general, we like to keep things light-hearted at Christmas time, but we can’t ignore that many of us have had a difficult year with illness, loss, uncertain employment, and

isolation due to COVID-19.

The Christmas story really is a very strange story when you think about it. It is the cel-ebration of the Prince of Peace in midst of a very uncertain world, both then and now. The phrase “Do not be afraid” is mentioned 365 times in the Bible which reminds us every day that God is with us as Emmanuel to take care of all our fears and anxieties during these uncertain times that is the good news to all of God’s Children in the world.

One of the great questions that should occur during Advent and find its culmination in the celebration of Christmas is what you expect from God? In some ways, the power of Advent is robbed by low expectations from believers. We approach Christmas like a mystery whose final pages we have already read. When we finally arrive on Christ-mas Day, we celebrate the birth of Jesus way back in history, we go home for the big meal, and we turn to the real mystery -- what will I get for Christmas?

What if you really believe that God has promised to intervene in the world's affairs in order to bring healing, Justice and reconciliation to a broken world and hurting people and that this may be the year? Maybe we are too polite to mention it to God and oth-ers, but perhaps that is the problem of our faith journey. Maybe we live with too low a set of expectations for God and his power to intervene in human history.

Dear friends may we never forget that the Christmas story is always good news!

Merry Christmas!

Wish you and yours a joyful Christ filled Christmas and a Blessed 2021!

Yours in Christ’s Mission Rev. Aaron Alfred.

We participated in Operation Christmas Child, under the leadership of Pat Kelm. The world's larest Christmas project of its kind, Operation Christmas Child, uses gift-filled shoe-boxes to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to children in need around the world.

Pat Kelm, Gail Brancel and Kathy Thiemke delivered 39 boxes from Briggsville and Moundville Churches Samaritans Purse Christmas boxes to Baraboo. The ones in charge there offered a prayer over our boxes.

John & Lori Kampen-Members of MUMC: At times events cause a complete change in one’s life. Instead of looking for retirement and relaxation, these grandparents have stepped for-ward to care for and nurture the growth of three grandchildren. This in itself is an amazing act but when one of the grandchildren was seriously injured in a bike/truck accident, the role became even more vital. The grandparents spent the first week at his bedside in a hospital with hope and prayers for his recovery. The next weeks began an increase in caregiving needs. Medical equip-ment was needed, medication monitoring, mul-tiple Doctor appointments and rehabilitation. They had to learn wound treatments. They also worked fastidiously to support his two sisters who were also affected by this tragedy. They now have assumed the role of teaching online schooling. They are moving forward with cour-age and strength and faith. They are doing a good job but could certainly use some encour-agement to continue, to persevere and to suc-ceed in their roles of grandparents, caregivers

and teachers and role models. Their love, support, trust, sacrifice, honesty, protection, acceptance, secu-rity, compromise, gratitude, respect and loyalty is what is keeping a family close and together. There is no way to be a perfect grandparent but a million ways to be a good one….and John and Lori Kampen are examples of very good ones.

Do you know why we are called United Methodists?

On April 23, 1968, Bishop Reuben H. Mueller, of The Evangelical United Brethren Church, and Bishop Lloyd C. Wicke, of The Methodist Church, joined hands at the General Conference in Dallas, Texas. They declared "Lord of the Church, we are united in Thee, in Thy Church and now in The United Methodist Church." A new denomination was born and a new logo was created to represent this coming together. A traditional symbol—the cross—was linked with a single flame with dual tongues of fire. This ties The United Methodist Church to God through Christ (cross) and the Holy Spirit (flame). Most church members know that the symbol is a sign that "this is a place where United Methodists gather”.
